- In this simple beginner friendly tutorial, I will show you how I painted these watercolor cards that can be used for any occasion.

To paint it I used:

I used Canson Montval watercolor paper 300gsm or 140lb
I usually use:
Clairefontaine Fontaine cold-pressed watercolor paper 300gsm or 140lb
***Watercolors :
I used eco-friendly watercolors I made myself

Isn't that the truth! I have always been drawn to clean and simple cards, particularly watercolor. Somewhere along the way I got caught up with all the extra crafty supplies, but have for almost a year now been systematically getting rid of the excess. It is so liberating to just sit with paper and paint and as you put it "make something pretty".

I used to make my own cards. Elaborate computer generated art on card stock. Then I saw a person to whom I had given the card with cash inside discard it like used wrapping paper. The ink and time that went into that card, picking just the right words for the person I gave it to meant nothing. I don't send cards anymore. My family is no more (all passed on). My kids and grandkids only like the card for the money in it. So I use free ones we get in the mail. You probably have friends to whom a homemade card means more to them than the store bought gift.

How do you get the paper to straighten once it’s dry after putting the wash on? I have a hard time getting it to lay flat when I want to mount it on a card
Hey Diane, I am turning it around while drying with the hairdryer so it stays as flat as possible. But if it warps too much I iron it. I have a video on that: czcams.com/video/oaQtTWgdBbY/video.html

can we do it on simple A4 paper and canvas ?
Not sure what you mean exactly. A4 printing/writting paper? I would not advice using hat for watercolors. But any watercolor paper or canvas will do.😁
What are the pens you are using?
