    Some morons on here are jealous a bitter mainly Liverpool fans lying about beckham calling him overrated and saying he was never even top 10 midfielder in the world. Let me put you straight. He came second in world player on the year, he was UEFA footballer of the year once and UEFA midfielder of the year once he was in UEFA team of the year twice. He was pfa team of the year four time and also Real Madrid player of the year in a team of superstars. He was quite possibly the best long passer on the ball ever and one of the best complete passers the game has ever seen incredible vision and execution and accuracy he didn't need pace to dribble past players he cut out entire teams with those ridiculous long defence splitting passes he could drop the ball on a coin from 70 yards. His finishing was superb his effort his desire his energy and his crossing and passing and vision was unmatched when he played. Unlike the likes of gerrard and lampard he actually performed for England and always gave his best and always made England a competitive team against any side in the world not just rolled over and humiliated again and again like the likes of gerrard and lampard in a England shirt

      As Liverpool fan I agree with you, Bsckham was unique... Gerrard and Lampard were different players in a way so its not fully fair to compare but Beckham defo os 1 of the greatest players and the most Iconic English player of all time joint with Gerrard tbf, maybe not in and Englanf shirt but Gerrard was amazing and consitent every season

    Honestly guys I watch a lot of football, and sports for that matter. I dont mean to sound like a know it all, but David Beckham is the best right midfielder the world has ever seen.
    Im Australian and I dont enjoy our national team being successful, but I have always enjoyed watching Beckham.
    I live in london now, and I say these same views to english people and not one person will agree with me.
    I know Beckham divides opinion but honestly guys...credit when credit is due.
    Not one person in the history of football can ever kick a football as sweet as David Beckham did....honestly his free kicks are perfection.
    I've heard the nickname given to Mesut Ozil...the assist king. Fair enough he is a classy player.
    But no one......ever.....has had the vision, the skill and the will to win that david beckham possessed. It pisses me off hearing drongo's slagging him off because of his celebrity lifestyle.
    In Australia theres a real common thing called the Tall Poppy syndrome. It states that anyone who is an easy target will be taken down.
    I just hope that anyone who might read this will please remember the brilliance and magic that David Beckham possessed
    The undeniable truth that he had a love to be a true and passionate Englishman.
    (Well.......except for the last time England played Australia which everybody knows ended in a 3-1 victory for the mighty Aussies!! 13/0302003)

    He was a great player, no doubt. I think many forget that because of all the things he did off the field. One of the best in midfield around at his peak, but I still think others were a class above such as his teammate Scholes or people like Zidane, Xavi or Pirlo just had more to their game. No shame in that, Becks was spectacular at his best. I won't forget how he drove on United in the final 99 or for England against Greece.

    Beckham was not the best midfielder by any stretch of the imagination, but he was a huge icon. Most famous football ever. He was the original player who began to to make the transition of more than a footballer, Beckham became a brand with his own boots and merchandise and in my opinion changed football alot, for the better. As -ell as being an actually nice person and dealt with the media excellently.That's why I wouldn't call him the best technical footballer, but the most iconic, popular and likable footballer ever.

    I was one of those guys that hated him after the world cup 98. I mean i really hated him, didn't think he should play for England ever again etc etc. But it was his leadership, his grit and determination in his performances for England after that, a leader by example, sometimes you could almost literally see him drag the rest of the team with him and be the dynamic the would eventually get us playing. At times it was like he was the only one that really gave a shit.
    He turned that 98 stuff around in my mind, and went on to become a great captain for England, in my opinion. Best crosser of a ball ive ever seen also.

  • @TMC4LYF
    @TMC4LYF Před 11 lety

    Don't agree with best ever, but massively underrated. It's become popular to make out like he wasn't one of the true greats of his time. He was a runner up to the Ballon D'or twice on two separate occasions, once to Rivaldo, and once to Figo when Beckham deserved to win it. Both times he was voted ahead of players like Ronaldo, Zidane, Batistuta, Del Pierro, Rui Costa, Ronaldinho, Scholes, Giggs, Henry and all the rest. Beckham was a phenomenal player in his prime who'd be 3rd best player now.

    well just the sheer fact that he had such a long and illustrious career must mean something to his ability to play the game. I'll agree that he wasnt the best of all time, but he definitely was a damn good player. He had pinpoint passes, beautiful strikes (bend it like beckham lol) and he was just incredibly attractive. I hate how people say that he was an average player . No he was not average. At the time of his prime, he may have not been the best dribbler around nor did he have must speed or tenacity. But he had one of the best right foot in the history of the game. The passes he made and the quality and the consistency of his passes were so accurate. Plus his hard working mentality that created his trademark bending free kick. There were very very few players, people would put in front of him to to take a free kick. His marriage may have given him more fame which people confuse with being overrated. You can keep your skillfully, speedy, flamboyant midfielders, id have him in my team just so that he could pass the ball around and when it was time, change the game with one simple pass or a cross.

    I respectfully disagree that he's THE best midfielder of all time. I think other modern greats like Xavi have a better sense of controlling and dictating the flow of the game. He's definitely one of the greatest of the past few decades though. His ability to place a ball anywhere he wanted it when he wanted to was incredible and not many other players matched that his ability of his. Plus his free kicks were simply golden. Absolutely an all-time great, brilliant player.

    • @louong93
      @louong93 Před 9 lety +1

      ASnowmanOnFire he is better than Xavi . When xavi is in a place where Barcelona is going to loose ,he Xavi will have empty head to bring his team back to winning spirits.Simply shoot the ball wide not even on target. People like Beckham will not do that. He will make use of his quality to bring back his team in club level , Xavi is a hard worker but have no talent and skills when his mind is empty. Of course beckham is not the greatest midfielder but his pass and free kick 95% accurate. If xavi 95% will be wide. Barcelona without Xavi , iniesta and pedro is stronger because they often give away the ball, but with suarez, messi and neymar they are the greatest team. Beckham , Scholes, and pirlo is the greatest midfielder in europe, Xavi iniesta and Zidane is over rated . They are nothing without south american players passing the ball to them.

      +Lou Ong did you just call zidane overrated
      3 times best player in the world
      destroyed one of the best brazil teams ever in the world cup final
      led one terrible french team to a wc final single handedly
      scored tons of goals
      scored the goal thatwon the champions league for real madrid

      There are much better midfielders than him in his era, like Rivaldo, Seedorf and balack . Winning the world cup does not mean anything if a player only win it once. Players that playing consistantly and contribute to the club team is important. Because it is not easy to stay fit and remain focus the whole season . They all also win champions league. They also score beautiful goals. I think fifa must be more fairer where if a player have won the player of the year he should not be nominated again . Let others a chance to win.

    Giggs Scholes Becks Keane. Probably one of the most complete midfields we will ever see in their day.

    Even though he is one of my favorite players ever, the title is a bit of a stretch! Still an amazing player and ONE of the best!!

    Perhaps, perhaps, but to each his own and for what he is as a footballer and as a person, I think he's done a fantastic job. Selling shirts? Of course I totally agree with you, money is almost everything in the modern game, but I've also seen him play during that time and, bar the champions league, he's still won trophies. Kudos to that eh?
