Isnt it funny how different physically Sato looks after his change of heart. When he comes to help rebuild the village and he is talking to Daniel and smiles, he looks like a different person. Anger can change how you look. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.
"This say you brave, this say you lucky". Miyagi spitting facts. We need movies like this again.
We really do!
Mr. Myagi said it best about the MOH, there's a certain amount of guilt you carry being awarded MOH (never win the medal). You wear it for the heroes that never came home.
The HIGHEST form of praise in Japanese culture is when a STUDENT teaches the MASTER.... It is a clear sign that, that Sensie has done his job VERY WELL and should be HONORED.. And for Sato, also being a STUDENT of Miyagi-Do himself to extend that praise to Mr Miyagi, really shows how much Sato has changed...
much of this movie was filmed in Kane'ohe, on the island of O'ahu in Hawai'i! fun fact: the little girl on the bell tower that Daniel saved grew up to become a Miss Hawaii (1995).... and, Danny Kamekona (Sato) was a childhood friend of my father. Kamekona was actually a very nice man. RIP.
The first Karate Kid is, and always will be, an absolute classic film! That said, the second one is probably my personal favorite of the series! I thought it had the best villains, best of the love interests, and the culture of them being set in Okinawa made it so good to me. Stoked y'all did a reaction and it was amazing as always! Much love from Texas and wishing yall nothing but health, happiness, and continued success!
I absolutely loved that it was set in Okinawa. That and the music gave this film so much personality. We thoroughly enjoyed this second one. It was not a copy of the first one and it reutilized what worked in such a clever way. Sending all the love to Texas! Thank you for watching this with us ❤️
I'm so glad you said that about Kamiko and I could not agree with you more. She is the best woman Daniel has in the entire franchise...yes..including Cobra Kai.
@@bryce253 I've always had a bit of a preference for Japanese women, and I thought it might be my bias. But I see other people think the actress Tamlyn Tomita has the best chemistry with Ralph Maccio.
@@OfficialMediaKnights Funny thing is it was Hawaii was used for Okinawa. But in The show cobra kai when he goes over there it actually is okinawa.
@@OfficialMediaKnightsI highly recommend you start watching Bruce Lee
The actor you knew was BD Wong. He’s in Jurassic Park and the Jurassic World Franchise. And he’s also in Law & Order SVU.
And he was also in the tv-show "Oz".
I showed these to my nieces, and after this one, the 12-year-old asked me, “so…what was Mr. Miyagi going to tell Daniel’s mom if he lost?” 😳🤣
OMG! But true! 🤣
Mr. Miyagi is the father that every kid deserves. I grew up with Pat Morita (Mr. Miyagi) in the 70's on a show called Happy Days and other appearances on television so this was really great to see him in a movie that featured his talents as an actor.
Daniel learns even more from his experience in Okinawa. He learned about honor. That is the greatest lesson of all.
Yes, Yes.. you need to see Part 3 and then go into Cobra Kai series, so much of the 'original 3' movies come in to play in the series.
Definitely need to watch part 3 first, cobra kai is a long journey so it would definitely be a large project. Worth it though.
I agree a hundred percent
The black guy hitting the ice was the late Clarence Gilyard Jr., who played alongside Chuck Norris as Ranger Jimmy Trivette on the hit series "Walker, Texas Ranger".
Also Theo the Hacker in Die Hard.
@@DirtMaguirk that too.
He was also in Top Gun, the first one.
@@crimsonitaliandragon5453Sundown
In the first karate kid, Mr myagi and Daniel’s relationship was more of a master student relationship, in this one at the end it’s more of a father son relationship..
I love this second film, it builds the connection between Miyagi and Daniel, it displays hope, love and family as being the correct reasons for self-defense fights. This is Miyagi’s story, and I love that they took a risk and gave it to him. Hope you two are well, love from Brooklyn.
We agree! It was such a pleasant surprise to see the sequel go in a completely different direction. It was definitely not what we expected but that’s exactly why it works. The sequel felt fresh and it definitely stands on its own two feet. Seeing the evolution of Mr Miyagi and Daniel is probably one of our favorite things. Thank you so much for watching, much love all the way to Brooklyn ❤️
I remember having the Karate Kid game on Nintendo where you have to break the ice and use the drum technique! Yes I'm old!
That was a thing? Ahh man hopefully someone has some gameplay on YT 😃
Yes! I had the same game.
Part II is arguably the best movie of the trilogy but I have a lot of love for the over-the-top Part III.
With every reaction we're getting closer to you guys watching Cobra Kai. I can't wait! 😃
If you go into part 3 knowing it's going to be super ridiculous, but with some good moments, it's such a great watch. As absurd as the movie gets, Mr. Miyagi manages to still have some really good moments, and Terry Silver is the best 80s villain ever heh.
Over the top?! More like way below the top. Only good thing about Part III is that it made The Next Karate Kid more watchable.
The actor you recognized (boy on the street who invited Danny to the club) is BD Wong. He played the geneticist in the Jurassic Park movies (particularly the first).
Part 3 is a must watch, even though it isn't as good but it does mean you can fully get Kabra Kai and catch up with all (ALL) the characters from the original 3 movies.
17:55 The actor you noticed is the sensational BD Wong, who is literally in almost everything nowadays, portraying every type of role you can think off and great at it.
He sticks out like a sore thumb in this movie tho as his accent always seems completely wrong... It's not his fault. Most likely it's mine because I know he's American, and really has no accent in anything else. He's always good in the things I see him in.
fun fact the person who hands Sato the Saki Jar plays one of the Monks in the 4th movie The Next Karate Kid
Yall missed what I think is the turning point at the end. When Mr Miyagi broke the log off of Sato, he said "I got you old friend" when he helped him stand up. That one little moment was a foreshadow of them putting the past behind them. Such a powerful moment.
Ya'll are my favorite reactors. An awesome breakdown of the scenes. The sunset scene, with Miyagi and Daniel after Miyagi's Father passed, moves me to tears everytime.
Thank you so much! That means the world to both of us ❤️
Such a good sequel! What i love about this series is that the movie puts you in the shoes of a student and just teaches lessons applyable to life. Also, there's something about seeing a stoic man cry that just hits hard!!
Right!? There’s some scenes in this one that had us emotional. The combination of the score, the themes and performances were amazing!
This was actually the only Karate Kid movie I had access to for years. And I don't regret it. The first film is such a great counter part to this film. Miyagi gets to be there for Daniel in the first, and Daniel gets to do the same in part 2. We get to see Okinawa and some of Miyagi's backstory which is amazing. This is hands down one of the reasons I fell in love with the Japanese culture. The score in this is SOOOOOO good!! I love the traditional sound they gave it. The whole movie knows exactly how to pull on your heart strings and when. And the last fight is RIDONKULOUS!!! The reveal of the whole village having their drums and playing them to rally Daniel is chilling. I absolutely LOVE this movie!
KK3 is the least popular and revered out of the three - but you MUST watch ALL three if you're you're going to eventually watch Cobra Kai. After 5 seasons - it is an absolute roller coaster of emotions - by if you stick with it - eventually the payoffs are really great - and there are MANY shocks and surprises along the way. They do an amazing job of intertwining the movies in with the show - without overdoing it. It's absolutely worth the watch. Cheers from Canada! :)
the scuffle Miyagi has with Crease in the beginning of the film foreshadows the drum technique
Thanks to you guys, I finally watched the second and third movies to prepare for your reactions. I’m glad I did, it helped me understand Cobra Kai characters much more. I loved this one! I’ll be honest, I wasn’t a huge fan of the third movie BUT it’s still necessary to watch for Cobra Kai. And it did have some good moments! So I look forward to watching that with you guys. I’m happy you enjoyed this so much!!
The Yellow Fighting Gi in this movie was the inspiration years later to be used for the Top Famous Fighting Character in Mortal Kombat "Scorpion"
I loved these movies as a kid. I hope you guys go onto karate kid 3, the next karate kid, and cobra kai. There's even an animated series that came out in the 80's.
Ralph won Dancing with the Stars.
I also believe he was in his early 20s when he did the first movie
No way! Didn’t know that fun fact! 😃
@@OfficialMediaKnightspretty sure Ralph was 23 in the 1st film, so he'd be 25-ish in this one.
Guys, tell me, how does it feel to be amongst the best reactors online? 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Look, you need to watch the third movie in this franchise (KK3) and then jump on to Cobra Kai.
They would LOVE Cobra Kai, but yes, they need Karate Kid 3 to complete it.
Exactly!
I literally came here to say the same thing! 😅😊
Hey one of my favorites, this was the one I recommended listening to the credits for the song at the end.
Gaahhh the song at the end was ahhhhmazing!!!
This made my day, I love the Karate Kid movies! And much as I love the first one, I think they did an even better job with this. Also really love how you two have an appreciation for the slower-paced scenes. You see the value in it while a lot of people these days don’t have the attention span for it anymore, but it adds so much to the movie.
Very much looking forward to the third movie of you do it!
They brought back ALL the original actors u will love it
i lived on Kadena Air Force Base in Okinawa when i was a kid. This movie came out a few years after i got back to the States. When the Airman in the movie said "Kadena air field" I was like "I know where that is!" Pat Morita (Mr. Miyagi) was an awesome person IRL too. #TillValhalla Miyagi-san
This is my favourite - beautiful music, character development, back drop…….told ya how great it was! ;-) ❤
The black actor/ Navy guy. Was also in Top Gun as a pilot briefly with Tom Cruise. After Goose got killed. He also was on the Matlock tv series as a former Marine private investigator on that tv series with Andy Griffith.
Sundown
You guys do such a nice job of watching and feeling a movie. Unlike a lot of reactors who can't help themselves by joking, smirking, and generally viewing a movie from their wise pulpits, you two really do a nice job of appreciating positive thinga about the films you do. Really, really nice. I hope you will do the next one when you have time.
28:48 In college I had a class in raku pottery, we made everything needed for a tea ceremony. My teacher had come straight from Osaka. On the last day of class we had a tea ceremony using the teapots and bowls we made. There are very specific movements and steps you have to take.
Awesome reaction guys. Waiting for your reaction Karate kid Part 3 and Part 4. Keep it coming soon plsss.
Miyagi is one of my favorite characters ever! Miyagi forever!
Fantastic reaction as always guys!! The last of the trilogy is also great! Skip the 4th movie, which isn't part of the original story and is also bad. As many recommend, jump from the 3rd to "Cobra Kai". A hug from Argentina!! ❤️
I love. And I can’t say it with my emphasis. But I LOVE y’all’s reactions. That fist bump when you both said mr miyagi is amazing was the best. Y’all have the best chemistry. I’m 22. And I grew up with these movies. When I was 10 I met Ralph Maccio (Daniel) and I have a picture with him and group of my friends and have a Karate Kid 2 movie case signed from him. And I also have the classic karate kid bandana tattooed on my arm. Can’t wait for you guys to get to 3 even tho it’s the least loved. And hopefully y’all get to cobra Kai too ❤️❤️❤️
Aww man! Thank you so much for showing us some love! ❤️ it means the world 😄 that is awesome! You got to meet Ralph Maccio and get the case signed! Can’t wait to check out the third one. We really enjoyed these two
@@OfficialMediaKnights as I got older. I ended up loving the 3rd one more and more. So I hope you guys at least enjoy it!
I've never been this early 😮 love your channel!
Haha yayyy, thanks so much for the support, it truly means the world! Hope you enjoy!!
Great reaction you two....
This was a good follow up to the 1st film....The song 'The Glory Of Love' was such a huge hit on the pop charts back in 1986 because of this movie. 😎👍
Thanks so much, we're so glad you enjoyed our reaction!! That song is such a great one, and we can only imagine the kind of hit it must have been!!
Yes I wasn’t born till 85 but Glory of Love (Peter Cetera) is one of my all time favorites & this movie definitely plays apart
Yup - it was #1 on the charts
I was 12 the year Glory of Love became a hit. Radio stations played it incessantly, but I didn't care. I loved it as much as I loved the movie! ❤
The first one is the classic, but the second one has always been my favorite 🤩
Karate Kid 1 &2 are absolute classics.
What about 3 😂
@@hassansulaiman3848 He is the weakest of the 3, but I personally have a guilty pleasure watching it regardless. Terry Silver is the most intimidating of the Villains in Karate Kid/Cobra Kai sagas.
I Love the scene where Miyagi saves Sato.... Because Number one that 2x4 was much heavier than the block of wood 🪵 you saw earlier where sato was practicing on... And the fact that MIYAGI BROKE THAT..... Scared Sato straight...
Peter Cetera Who sang the movie/love Theme Glory Of Love had a number of hits songs from, I think from the mid to late 70’s throughout the 1980s. He first a lead vocalist for the group Chicago and then went on to have a very successful solo career. Don’t know if you were already familiar the singer behind the Glory Of love or not but definitely was mentioned in another comment a great musical hit. If you haven’t seen it the original music video for Glory Of Love is very good as is special Daniel And Kumiko tribute- Glory Of Love music video. The Karate Kid franchise sequels did a great job as follow ups to the original.
One of the best finale's ever.
The Karate Kid films are so awesome. I also always loved Miyagi's quotes growing up lol.
This opening scene was supposed to be the ending to the first movie. Luckly the director was smart enough to save it.
Definitely my favorite of the Karate Kid movies
i love Sato's redemption story, which i feel like its not something you typically see with villains that much even today but even back then it was practically unheard of
The music video of the film is the classic song Glory of Love performed by Peter Cetera. Thank you guys for reacting The Karate Kid Part II👍👍👍👍
just in case no one answered, the guy on the street inviting them to the dance was BD Wong. The recurring scientist in all of the Jurassic Park movies as well as numerous other roles.
This was one of the earliest movies I remember watching in the theater. I was 3 years old and my family lived in West Germany at the time.
Beautiful video, you both definitely need to watch the 3rd one !
First time I ever recognized the same dude that you did even though I've seen this movie several times!! He was the priest/father in OZ, the prison show. That's where I recognized him from at least.
The music was done by Bill Conti. His work includes a bunch of stuff like Dynasty, For Your Eyes Only and his work on the Rocky films
Such a Classic !!.. Amazing message and performances!!.. Pat Morita was nominated to the Oscars for Best Supporting Actor 🎭
Even though it says it's 6 months later, it's longer than that. Daniel is graduating from High school, which is why he can leave to go to Okinawa and Alli is starting a relationship with someone else in college.
@17:54 I don't remember his name, but he was the scientist from the Jurrasic Park franchise & the medical examiner from Law & Order: SVU.
the young man who invited them to the dance is played by BD Wong. he played the role of George Huang in the tv series Law and Order SVU and also played the role of Howard Weinstein in the Father Of The Bride film franchise
Definitely watch part 3 and The Next Karate Kid, and definitely check out the series Cobta Kai. In my opinion the series is just as good as the movies. Maybe even better.
So happy that you both appreciated this film. I have a strong attachment to the first 2 films and it's so refreshing to see a young couple like yourselves react to it and have the same kind of love for it. Cheers!
This sequel is seriously underrated.
I envy people like Daniel....he can just go across the world, to a culture he knows nothing about, trying his best to respect that culture, yet still being true to himself. I mean, he does not become overly cautious, or polite, or fake. He is still acting like himself. It's hard. People tend to try showing of the best side of themselves to others. People who are genuinely themselves in front of others is rare.
17:10. Yes, filmed on Oahu. I lived there at the time they filmed the movie and could see the movie set from afar. My only regret was not visiting the set and meeting Ralph Macchio and Pat Morita..
I love ya'lls' reactions. I'm sure you have plans for the next few videos, but I really really hope ya'll watch As Good As It Gets at some point.
This reaction was so great! Rhanks for doing it ❤
Thank you so much for your support and kind words, it truly means the world!! We have it on our list and will try to get to it asap!!
Thank you again!!
Thank you both for being phenomenal and your channel being unprecedented. This movie is absolute classic. 🥋👍🏽
Favorite KK movie! I mean, I love them all, but this one is special with its cinematography and music. I just discovered your channel tonight. I truly hope you guys are planning to go the distance with this series. The next movie is kinda silly, but I love it anyway. The TV show Cobra Kai is a MUST WATCH if you like these movies. Somehow they found a way to recapture the magic in it. I really hope to see it here on your channel.
The US actually has many military bases in Okinawa IRL to this day but it started back in WW2. There are several american restaurants and stuff there. Also, this movie is mostly shot in Hawaii. Just some trivia. Great reaction guys! /All the best from Sweden
Great reaction guys another one to watch which is also a trilogy is The Three Ninja’s
This one is my favorite. Great way to expand the charaters.
Would recommend the third instalment for sure eventhough the second is my personal favourite in the franchise. Okinawa is such an amazing backdrop for this movie and was great to explore Mr Miyagis back story
These movies and especially Mr. Miyagi, ended up providing guidance for an entire generation. We could use more movies like this today.
September is the middle typhoon (hurricane) season, Okinawa gets a lot of them. They filmed a lot on location here in Hawaii, it was a big deal having a Hollywood movie being filmed with local people working and acting. Sato, Danny Kamekona is not really Japanese/Okinawan. Hope you can visit Japan and Okinawa or Hawaii soon. Pat Morita is from the mainland (continent) but we consider him to be a local here in Hawaii. Thanks for reliving the memories from childhood.
On the list of the perfect sequel, you will always see movies like: The Empire Strikes Back, Aliens 2, The Terminator 2, and The Godfather 2.. Karate Kid 2 is definitely another film that belongs as it is at least as good...if not better than the original.
Watched this in the theatre years ago and the audience erupted when Mr. Miami tweeked the guy’s nose. Now you know why Generation Xers often quote the Karate Kid movies.
The actor coming up to them when they are looking at the TV's is BD Wong, who has done a ton of American shows and even a few on Broadway - Law and Order, Oz, Jurassic Park, etc.
This was his first movie role.
love seeing you enjoying these movies....they're classics...
This is such a classic. You need to react to all the Karate Kid movies and then go on to the Kobra Kai series, which continues Daniel’s life as an adult. This year will be the last season of the series which is excellent & full of surprises! Pat Morita aka Mr Myagi was on the 70s series Happy Days in The 70s. Sadly he passed in 2005. Thanks❤️
Hope you guys continue on with the over-the-top part 3 and the standalone part 4 to see the rest of the Miyagi run. They are all worth it for his performance alone and all a lot of fun.
I hope you two make it all the way to Cobra Kai. This was always my favorite Karate Kid movie since I was a kid.
31:13 Correction. Sato could break a log as shown in the airport. That wood that he and Miyagi found on the beach is something he just uses to train with. It has sentimental value. If you decide to watch Cobra Kai; you will get to more about Sato.
That fist pump between you both at 3.22....utterly beautiful.
I enjoyed watching this with you guys. I grew up on this one and the first and they’re both equally amazing to me. You guys reacting reminds me of the specific things that I love about it.
17:56 That’s BD Wong, he was in Jurassic Park, Mr. Robot, Oz, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and more.
18:53 That’s Clarence Gilyard, he was in Top Gun and Die Hard among other things, he passed away last year.
When someone saves your life, it becomes a pretty heavy marker to carry. And the same when Miyagi manages to free Sato and save him from the storm. Only then did Sato realize that Miyagi was a man of peace and didn't want to fight Sato. He suddenly changes his attitude after that, and decides to change himself for the better.
Mr miyagi breaking the log was a life and death situation,if you asked him how he would've answered with 'dont know first time ' the same way when he was asked after breaking the glass bottles...
Different with Sato , he was practicing he wasn't trying to break the wood
I freaking love y'all reaction so much...I suggest you guys to react to The Umbrella Academy series next... there are 3 season ... I'm sure you guys will love the series too...The storyline, the song used in the series is 10/10 for me..Please do a reaction to it.
Adore this franchise, even find fun for the remaining ones. Hope you continue & then get into Cobra Kai series
The first one was truly amazing, but this was my favorite by far! You MUST do Cobra Kai! Seeing things from Johnny's perspective is quite amazing and they did a great job writing it!
Hitting a nail with one strike IS possible. It took me a few years, but I did manage to master it. Helped a lot when I worked construction. I didn't do it often, and certainly not in front of others, but it felt great being able to do it.
Ya'll are incredible! I was just introduced to your channel, and I love it! One of the best reaction channels out there. Thanks so much for the great content! Keep up the good work! Please excuse all the exclamation marks, lol!
Thank you so much, this put the biggest smile on our faces!! We're super appreciative of your support! (We too love exclamation points here haha)
What surprised me was that this was supposed to be the last movie. Looking back at it, it would have made a great end to the story. Perhaps 3 should have been 2. In any case, this is my favorite one.
RIP Pat Morita. Miss that guy
6:29 Still believe in that, now and forever
Yes, absolutely watch the third film, and then watch Cobra Kai! 💗💗💗 (The films are HEAVILY referenced in Cobra Kai, so it's better if you know the entire context). I loved the Karate Kid movies ever since the early 80's when I saw the first one in theaters. But the way they have evolved the story in Cobra Kai is phenomenal! It's easily my favorite show! 💓
This fight is 100 times better than the tournament
It’s so brutal and the way you just have to keep keep on going as long as you can
Best of the first three, hands down
Amazing reaction!!guys watch part 3
and I assure you you guys will scream from the action!!
Thank you so much for watching! We’ll definitely do part 3!
@@OfficialMediaKnights it is a pleasure😊..
Could you imagine Mr. Miyagi having to tell Daniel's mom that some angsty Okinawan dude klled Daniel over his uncle's 30 year old grudge and some fake produce weights?😂
You both are the best of the best. .
