Pilot holes are recommended. Always try one out (without the bezel) to see if the screws will work OK. Then you won't risk marring the bezel. Still a good video of how not to do it. It's ok as long as you learn from your mistakes. Trying and failing = learning. That's a good thing. That's how I learned.

@@teeanahera8949 so you must be an engineer and boat builder , please examine why manufacturers use foam in boats then if it doesn't help with anything? I've used this process and copied brands like tracker and rangers boats . It dramatically improved the performance and handling in my boat and I added 70 plus pounds to the boat in materials and the boat is 2-3 miles an hour faster and is more stable in rough conditions. I understand the foam isn't directly contacting water and it's not water tight , it simply fills all the voids in the structures needed and stiffens the hull.

Rigid interior shelves. czcams.com/users/postUgkxBrJOMRANMI82dPOK0qoDtHhP-JpbErUg Yeah the shelves sometimes get misaligned with their supports in the lid if you don't have the lid fully flat, or you twist the shelves as you're pulling them out, but pretty much a non issue; just reseat and you're fine. Some spools of thread are a little too big and cause the shelves to not close all the way, however with the clasp you can still get the lid locked if the shelves aren't completely collapsed without breaking things ... so far.
