    This is amazing, thank you so much for your research. I have BPD and was sitting here making notes.

    Saying "I see you're upset" is condescending, especially in a whiny voice. What about investigating BPD as a form of failure to thrive? What causes sensitivity? Doesn't the data show neglect, dismissiveness, mental, emotional & physical abuse is at the root of neural connections???

    Is this talk actually neglecting the fact that bpd is partly a consequence of childhood trauma? This makes it sound a bit like victim blaming. I had to be over alert to the angry face because I was anxious not to annoy my father and tried to escape the beatings. When I was beaten, I had suicidal thoughts because the people I should have gotten love and protection from were the most threatening to me, I had no way to escape but the suicidal thoughts. This presentation sounds so naive, looking out from the kind of family environment where I and many other bpd-s come from.

      Yes what you are saying is so true, I also think we are not only attuned to the angry face, but we are aware of the dysfunctional society in general...how do we not fall apart in a society that is quite dysfunctional?

      Yeah people with borderline personality disorder are just empaths with a troubled past I think.

      The (sad) fact a great deal of borderlines are dependent on their parents to encourage and/or pay for their treatment so blaming them openly is self-defeating. They say psychotherapy is the most key component, they don't talk about the weather on the couch.

      I didn't have a troubled past , had wonderful parents wonderful childhood ,not all of us match the text book
      Yes I was bullied at school cos I wore glasses were hopeless at games only had a handful of friends all through school.
      Us free dinner kids were humiliated by a teacher all through middle school she seemed to have taken a dislike to me had this teacher.
      I remembered her saying to me look at your messy meal tickets you're very lucky to get free meals these other kids parents have to pay out tickets were a different colour and we had to stand at front of queue.
      I was in hospital as a child in days when parents couldnt stay at night and weren't allowed into anasrthic room or recovery room with your kids and thing is it's these times that stickinyour mind@@Fightnight92
      So when I have a meltdown I go back in reactions to the ages I wore when trauma occured 3,4,5, right through to age 13 so my trauma may have been considered mild but it was stil lthere

    If bpd and ptsd are often co-occuring, what if the prefrontal cortex and the amygdalas missing connections are due to brain damage from the beatings the person received as a kid. My mom used to use me as a battering ram to open doors head first.

      Well, the problem with your hypothesis would be the outliers. This could be people that do not fit the co-occurring category, perhaps they fit on a spectrum of bpd or ptsd rather than the clinical definition of bpd or ptsd. There may be overlap due to the characteristics of each condition, but physical trauma is not necessarily a requirement of either diagnosis. I am sorry about your own experience. I wonder if you also had a history of emotional abuse and/or neglect, this can also alter brain structure. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3103978/

      See that is a beautiful thing to say - but also hideously reductionist. Depends on the audience.

      If things could only be so easy. Please be cautious with simplifying a disorder that makes you feel death would be so much better than living one more minute with it." Troubled past" sounds like the suffers can be to blame. I was 4-8, what could I have done so wrong to anyone?

    Why is bpd called a disease in this video.. Sounds harsh

    • @DianeMatlock
      @DianeMatlock Před 3 měsíci

      Google the word disease...do your own reseach...

    • @bunglejoy3645
      @bunglejoy3645 Před 28 dny

      Well I prefer word disease cos the level ofbeing affected in us with serious symptoms
      Calling it a disorder trivialises it for people like me it's far far from trivial
      Disorder sounds like a way of describing like these people with heavy hoarding issues.
      It's not it's very intense life events firebpd off like a volcano prior to symptoms reaching crisis prior to 2014 I cared for mumwush I could go back to those days in my brain and attitude
      BPD shows up as brain damage on FMRI scans andneuyins damaged do I believe some ecperts would say that bad BPD is grouped among the neuro divergent conditions, plus a few years back I was told I'm autistic
