Here's a clip of Eric Darius performing with Darryl Williams, Kevin Flournoy & Albert Burnett @ the Edge in Temecula CA. Enjoy and "Stay Smooooth". smoothjazzfamily
He hits some lovely runs but asks noted by several of you overblos a bit and too repetitive which makes him sound limited and takes away from the song we're all gover fans and no one can do him but the overflowing is the killa there were sections when he settled down and just let it flow I really enjoyed tho I can hear that hes clearly not limited and wish him the best. He made me reach for my grover sheet music and got me ready to play but I had to put them all away. Sometimes I forget that my. Left arm doesn't function anymore. Plus It's late and my neighbors wouldn't appreciate that. I've said enough congrats young gun keep it flowing for mr. Magic hope to see you in person.
I think this young brother is really talented with some serious chops. Sometimes as a musician you get caught up in the moments and it seem he is overblowing in some instances but he is really showing all his blowing weapons: The growling for instance. Overall I really dug it thought
excelente digitação, muita velocidade, escalas e mais escalas. mas senti falta de algo mais profundo, um pouco de improvisação com alma. minha impressão é essa.
Go Eric, go Eric, go Eric!! I'm wondering if that sax has ever come out of his mouth and knocked him in the mouth. If that was me, I definitely would have a few busted lips. It amazes me. It's like watching those speeding motorcycles going down the expressway passing everybody, but you never see one wreck!
@@crystalbrown2621 Thanks for responding. I've been into it for a while myself. He's really great. Along with jazz, I love music that's dominated with/by the sax. Do you have a love for other genres?
IIsaacLITE sorry, I’ve loved jazz every since I was little. However, now I’m learning to appreciate it more as I’m taking lessons from a true jazzman who is helping me recognize theory and styles of artist like Cannonball, Coltrane. My approach has been a merge of self taught plus what I hear so he’s helping me harness and present a better sound
Could just be the way he's mic'd up. He's got a lot of power and plays with a mean metal mouthpiece. He normally plays with a black plated sax too. I saw him play a "jazz jam" with a few other big names and he's one of the few alto players that actually blew me away-- even after 15 years of going to jazz fests. He's really a beboper behind that smooth jazz facade. Excellent musician!
Eric .....el mejor saxofonista!!!! Dave Koz y Richard elliot son sus hijos!!!!! Mucho maestro Eric !!!!!!!!!...... Obviamente Dave y Richard son también buenos en el jazz pero vos mejor
Navy....before I read your comments. I heard Gerald Albright too. But a good motto is if you cant say anything good about someone, don't say anything at all. Granted, we can critique without tearing the artist down. Eric is a young cat and sounds awesome!
Some years ago when I heard that Grover Washington Jr had passed away, I just cried.
I'm loving to see some musicians who still appreciate him.
Absolutely Awesome!!
Where can I find more music like this?
Eric style is very powerful yet SMOOTH
Great playlist!!
Love it! ❤
He is doing his own style and that is not bad at all.
This video deserve more views 👏🏼

Eric surely enjoys playing;which is great. He seems to have Gerald as his favorite also, besides Grover. I like them both too.
amazing keyboard solo
+Griffin Wagasky I agree. That's the amazing Kevin Flournoy on keys. He tours with the Pointer sisters.

And the silences?
Eric has chops, but really over blows alot of the time, one dynamic thru out the whole song. much respect, just sayin
