- A video made in 1973 by Pat Blessing of Judee Sill, playing at a day concert at the USC campus in Los Angeles. She is singing her composition "The Lamb Ran Away with the Crown". The audience knows the song and helps her right along. She had many fans in those days.
This is the Judee I remember. Quite wonderful.

I just stumbled upon Judee Sill from SPotify last week and have not stopped listening to her music. Seems I will never get tired of it. So glad there's some footage of her out there of her live performances. She was gone way too soon. Thanks for posting.

Such a good songwiter, I love how she prompted the audience to join her in singing in the round at the end of the tune, so it sounded close to the record. Clever lady.

Wow, small world, I know both the videographer and the uploader, didn't expect to find them connected. I didn't know Pat had this footage although I knew she hung out with Judee Sill "back in the day". Good to see it got released.
Pat was my GF decades ago. Sadly she left this earth last January (2020).
Hope she's taking more heavenly footage now they are reunited in that next world. If not a reality(believe it to be so) it's still a nice thought to have swirling through your head.l dont want to think of her resting but making music somewhere else.
judee is remembered and if she's out there somewhere in the universe i hope she knows that we all love her so much! i relate to her lyrics and she inspires my own creativity as a writer.
imagining judee and the people sing in the square, kids frolicking, also some birds might singing. i felt like this is what love is. i hope if she were still here.

That show was my era ,so l saw and heard real music although l had seen many of the great live as well. You could not be unmoved by her authenticity and unique style.Looked like a nun but had a hard edge and had led a life that no non l ever heard of had experienced. She was complex but sang like a angel and had a talent for delivering her performance in a deceptively simple manner that modern singer cannot replicate.A true genius,a true one off performer,sadly missed but happily remembered.

What's interesting to me about her is that many of her songs are theological reflections. That she could write about the Christian experience through the pop-jazz-folk idiom (and of course a heavy does of gospel) of her time is pretty amazing.
But she lived the struggle that Christianity in its pure essence is about. This live video is a precious rarity.

Had no idea Judee ever existed at all until about the middle of 2022. She is mentioned in David McGowan's book Weird Scenes Inside The Canyon: Laurel Canyon Covert Ops & The Dark Heart of the Hippie Dream - I took from the book that McGowan was indeed a fan (he has also died and left us btw - his daughter runs his website - I'd check that out) - I think The Kiss is by far one of the best songs written in the 20th century. I mean there's simply no denying it. Read that book and then read Tom O'Neill's CHAOS: Charles Manson, the CIA & the Secret History of the Sixties and both of those books together will knock some things down for everyone just a hair. Long Live Judee Sill, someone totally unknown to pretty much everyone who "experienced the 60's" (and the cocaine 70's for that matter).
