Schwarzmönch 2649m via Silberhornhütte/Most Beautiful Alpine Hike in the Jungfrau Region/Stechelberg

- Schwarzmönch 2649m is a mountain located in the Bernese Alps, very impressive summit high above the Lauterbrunnen Valley, not well known mountain but surely belongs to one of the most beautiful ALPINE hikes in this region!. Mostly seen from village Muerren or Gimmelwald or mountain top of Schilthorn but it's hidding in the shadow of Jungfrau mountain.
In village of Gimmelwald is a brewery, that is the home of dark beer named after Schwarzmönch mountain. This beer have also won few awards.
We took the "normal route" to Silberhorn hut from Stechelberg which is also the hiking path to the Rottal hut, until we reach "Beim Chalten Brunnen" at appox. 2000m, where we're turning left direcition Silberhorn hut. Until here the path is good marked, T3 difficulty. From "Chalten Brunnen" crossroad, it is T5, good shoes, orientation sense and experienced is needed. By WET weather is this hike not to recommend!!
From Silberhorn hut to Schwarzmönch summit via Rottbrathoren-Ufem Schwarzen Grat is the route partially difficult, max. T6 II.UIAA. hardest part secured with rope and chain. Loose rocks all the way!!
Summit part is well secured with chains, good grips to climb on, fun to do. On the summit there are also loose rocks, so be careful!

CONDITIONS: very good, dry, start of September
DANGER: loose rocks
WATER SOURCE: last one at approx. 2500m (Strahlbratti) and at Silberhorn hut you can buy Cola, Rivela etc.

Der schwierigste Abschnitt zur Silberhornhütte ist der Aufschwung / die Stelle NACH der Querung mit Kette und Seil. Der Kamin hingegen ist Genuss pur und sehr angenehm.

hallo! vielen dank, ja der weg auf Schrazmonch von tal ist sehr lang and teilweise auch schwierig aber dafur wunderschon, man trifft im ganzen tag hier niemand und wir sind hier im haufig besuchtem Jungfrau Region, absolut eine der Top tour fur uns.. :) muss ich jetzt ehrlich sagen, dass Respect gehort Ihnen.. super channel haben Sie auch.. wir hoffen nur und mochten naturlich auch, wenn wir alter werden, auch so viele Tour machen wie Sie.. die Liebe zur Natur ist hier erkennbar.. :) schonen Tag

Thanks for the info, that is very very helpful to us. we hike up to the Rottalhütte and Silberhornhütte next month, but having seen your video, maybe we should go to the Rottalhütte first, stay the night and go to the Silberhornhütte the next day. In any case we intend to take 3 days for it. Just hope we get good weather.

Sehr schönes Video mit vielen Informationen um diese Tour auch selbst einmal zu machen. Ich sehe viele Sicherungsketten, aber nicht am gefährlichsten Teil, den Stralblätti, ist das richtig?
danke schon.. es ist eine sehr schone Tour, wenig bekannt trotz sehr gute lage, wir waren dort ganz alleine, in die fast 10Stunden haben wir niemanden getroffen, dann wieder in Stechelberg. gefährlichste Teil finde ich nicht am Stralblätti, da diese Platte ist sehr gut zu begehen.. oberhalb ist ja der Leiter mit paar Ketten, im Schatten, sehr feuchte Teil, da im Fruhsommer sicher noch viel Schnee liegt!! auf die ganze Route sind paar heilklere passagen, meinstens ist es wegen bruchige und lose Steinen. Es gehort zu den T6 touren, so man sollte immer vorsichtig sein!! hoffentlich habe ich geholfen!! tschuss

Die Tour bis zur Hütte ist ja nur T5. Ich kenne ein ganzes Repertoire an Alpinwanderwegen und ich war auch auf der Silberhornhütte. Mir war am unwohlsten direkt nach der Ketten/Seil-gesicherten Querung am Anfang. Da geht es nämlich ungesichert auf losem Untergrund und mit nicht gut ersichtlicher Wegspur (unübersichtlich) ein Stück relativ steil aufwärts (
Früher gab es offenbar auch einen anderen Weg namens „Chatzewägli“ von Stechelberg zur Hütte (mit BG bewertet in alten SAC Führern). Gibt es den heute immer noch und habt Ihr ihn auch ausprobiert? Sehr schönes Video!
vielen dank.. und ja ich habe von die andere Route auch gehort.. aber nicht gemacht, die route beginnt irgendwo in Lengwald bei Stechelberg, richtig? da sind sicherlich noch paar Spuren, aber auch die normalroute ist ja nicht viel mehr beschildert.. aber es ist auch gut so :)
