Nice work and lovely clean work space. I went the other way with my 84 XE cross flow, taking the auto out and putting a 4 speed single rail in. It was definitely a smoother drive with auto and of course the single rail, although as tough as they get is a bit clunky to drive with. I have adapted to that and it is a very nice cruiser but definitely not a racer. Maybe a T5 would make it better but it would mean changing the whole rear end as well. XEs are XElent.

4500 grand converter ? Its not even gonna lock in when you're sitting on 100km on the freeway. And the Cleveland doesn't go much past 5500. Sounds great

@@MindieJ ah shit. they dont like being lowered at all. be careful with your tailshaft hitting the tunnel when shifting, i had issues with mine when it was lower, shifting while on boost the tailshaft would smash into the tunnel. not a good feeling.
Im thinkin of doin exactly the same with my falcon. I thought that a manual would be good fun, but with the camshaft thats in it, its a pig of thing. So the FMX will go back in, with a vacuume pump this time.
Oh shoot i completely forgot that there pretty much one complete unit. I was still thinking that the clutch pedal was seperate, like in the cef and laurel. Awesome keep up the good work .
@@MindieJ just slide clutch pedal off shaft replace with spacer replace circlip on end of shaft You can replace small brake pedal with longer auto pedal the same time

Flex plate was meant to have a spreader plate, without it you will have issues with loose bolts regardless of how much you lock them, when you hear it get the spreader and install it
Mate i drag raced ol xe 15 years ago,street car ,high nines at 137 mph,if i was you i would have put a scatter shield over that flex plate,i have seen with my own eyes a guy in a valiant on a burnout at willowbank raceway,lost his toes with broken flex plate,i saw what left of flex plate come out the drivers window,but a guy that lived near me said he saw a guy lose both legs,so if you Drag race,its just safety for you and your family
Can convert I did heaps of em way back when The auto strip down to the hole Fit the steel boot retainer over hole Attach rubber boots and all is covered

Yeh I found that out early on when I first got this car, it’s been “massaged” around the tailshaft/diff area

nah 6 cylinders you can add the cable clutch pedal onto the auto box but the V8 ones are one big unit
