I like how you do the snare roll type of things with one finger..skilllzz 👏
Working on an advanced techniques course in which I'll try and tackle all those things and explain how to practice them effectively!
yeaah that is awesome
Amazing!
I’m here from Koji Seto.
Love from Japan!
Great song, excellent cover!
You are an awesome teacher
Instant subbed, you deserve a million subscribers, I bought a quneo for finger drumming and your tutorials help me a lot, thanks. Saludos desde Argentina
Thank you so much! I feel very motivated to keep on going so if there are a million subs out there I will get them eventually!
Gostei da versão dessa música. Parabéns
amazing man
Legit performance! Legit content! Keep it up!
Will do! Thank you.
Muy bueno!!!
Awesome!! How i never met this channel before !!
Thnx! This channel is pretty new. I started less than a year ago so I think that's why a lot of people don't know it yet :-) I'm gonna release much more awesome content so glad to have you on board and stay tuned! :-)
Awesome cover and Whoa!! 2k subs already? Nice
Yeah I had 1500 people join from Japan after a famous youtuber recommended my channel :-)
The Quest for Groove That’s awesome
Man you are amazing. I thought this is not possible in finger drumming. How did you do a little drum rolls?
It's some sort of a finger 'shake'. Takes time to master but it's possible for sure. If you're interested you can also check out my complete courses on questforgroove.com the beginner course and the beginning of the 'intermediate' course is 100% free so everybody can learn the basics quickly!
subscribed! :D
Oh man, I love your channel so much. Been diving in for months in your techniques. Please teach how to do the snare roll with one finger? Is it a Maschine only thing or can it be done in my old Launchkey mini pads? Thanks :)
It can be done with any device, but the pads need to be sensitive. It’s hard to totally explain this in written text but one of the most important things is to not try and “hit” twice. So dont hit, lift and then hit again. Instead just get your finger close to the pad and then execute a little spasm or shake. Once you can do it it’s not that hard actually, but you have to move away from the bigger, firmer motions and get into the super subtle, soft, relaxed shake vibes…
I also explain this in my “advanced techniques” course by the way.
@@TheQuestforGroove Oh, makes total sense! I was trying to do the double motion as you said. Guess is practice then. I'll be there in your advanced course most certainly. Much Love, thanks for sharing.
Do you go full velocity for these kinds of covers? I'm just getting into this. I have the Akai MPD26. It's hard to get the velocity right with the thumb and the index finger on the right hand. One hits a lot harder than the other always :) I use the mapping from you beginners video.
I always use the full velocity range of the sounds if that's what you mean. So never a fixed velocity. I do adjust the curves of the sounds, for example the hi hat is set so that it plays the soft hits a little louder. For the kick you can do something similar, making it harder to trigger or easier. But the way to do that is different and depends on the drum software you're using. I used Addictive Drums 2 for this one. Very tweakable.
Excellent performance as always! I signed up to your web page and completed beginner course btw, great stuff! However i have one Production-related question, how do you mix your drums after you record them into your DAW? I have Maschine Mikro Mk3 and it simply does not allow me to seperate each drum kit as tracks in Logic Pro. That's a big issue for mixing the drums i recorded because whole drum kit is crammed into single track. I'm not able to mix kick or snare seperately. I use SSD5 Free version as plugin.
Hey I actually never used SSD 5 free edition in my productions, but with addictive drums I actually mix the drums inside the plugin. So my drums are ususally also 1 track in my DAW and then I use the addictive drums mixer and effects to turn it into something I like. My guess is you should be able to do that inside SSD5? Or are there no controls at all?
@@TheQuestforGroove Thanks for the answer! Yes SSD5 has it but as far as i see i’m not able to use external plugins like compressor etc while mixing. So it’s kinda limiting in that case.
@@purplewound I know with addictive drums that it is possible to get every sound on a separate track and then mix the way you're used to in your DAW. I personally never use that feature, but it is possible. Maybe with the free version of SSD it has some limitations which would be understandable, but my guess is the full version of SSD will have some similar option like Addictive Drums. Basically every serious drum plugin has this option.
What kit are you using for this cover? Great job!
This is Fairfax 1 from Addicitve Drums! It might be a hybrid with some kit pieces from other kits though, because that's this thing you can do with addictive drums. Interchange everything :-) But this is mostly Fairfax 1.
@@TheQuestforGroove Thanks! I've got Fairfax 1 locked and loaded. Playing around with it. Quarantine is a great opportunity to get some good practice in.
Good stuff again, but I do worry that these tutorials will be taken down for music infringement at some point? :(
Don't worry, they are cleared to be used but advertisement income goes to the record label!
If youtube's contract with Universal or Warner expires (they just struck a multi year deal so it won't happen any time soon) yes, they might disappear. But if they're up for a couple of years I'm happy!
Great! Next time a Tool song?
That would be badass!
foda d+
Sorry, don't know what foda d+ means. Google translate says it's an insult, but I'm not sure, so I guess I'll just say thank you and assume it's something good :-)
The Quest for Groove "foda d+" = " very nice" i am Brazilian
nice vídeo bro
Haha, thank you so much man!! Appreciate it.
I just wanted to say that your video was very good, but I used a Brazilian band that translates into a very ugly word. Greetings from Brazil ♥️
