This is great. Would love to hear you play the whole song.
CZcams would shut him down for copyright violation.
@@erikburman530 I watch other channels (like RJ8) that play full songs and aren't shut down.
Put a box with a talking head in the corner and it makes the video a commentary, not a copy
@@erikburman530 Jews
@@erikburman530 youtube should get rid of people like you - its a leagle rendition...
Saw them live once. And I could not believe how loud they were in concert. The kind of live show you can feel in your body. It's the second loudest show I think I ever saw.
Men without ears
What was the first?
@@TheBrianCloud Kenny G probably?
Was it so loud it knocked your hat off?
Nah, loud is being at a Motorhead concert and you can't hear right for two days, that's what I call loud.
At 0:48 always loved that instrumental part of the original song video. So glad someone recognized it because its not in the other versions of the song
It's in every version...
That's the baroque melody part ,love!!!
What are the notes for that bit?
I know what you mean, I like the video version too
Simply fantastic but why so short? I think that a lot of people appreciate this fantastic version...please complete it!
I’m happy with the demo. and yeah: copyright stuff yada yada. They’d take it down if the song was any longer probably. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It's so short because they didn't make the music, go buy the music!
@@TFT-bp8zk Yes and he should because he would be stealing from another artist. You kids just don't understand do you!
@@minirock000 yeah nobody ever did covers back then. the kids these days don't remember! oh wait.
@@minirock000 You realy shouldnt call other People "Kids" while you articulate yourself like a 12 Year old. Thats not a smart move
Nothing can beat the sounds of anologue synths 👌
A dx7 can

PAUL MARTIN: Actually...Korg's PolySix V2 softsynth, beats it's own original hardware version of the PolySix keyboard.
The software enables versatile sound creation with enhancements such as 32-voice polyphony (max), up to 16-voice unison (with detune/ spread function), flexible external modulation settings, MIDI clock synchronization for the modulation generator and arpeggiator, and a spread function that adjusts the spaciousness of the effects. The multi-effects that have been added to this softsynth, are among the very best I've ever heard.
I've been a keyboardist for 43 years & a life-ling Korg fan and I can vouch for Korg's accuracy & attention to every conceivable detail, in their recreation of the original PolySix keyboard(as it has all of the analog warmth & sonic characteristics.)
No, my laptop with stock synths can :)
Maaaan the oberheim gets the sound of that main synth. Such a great sound.
Wow, I didn't realize how layered it was! Have an upvote!
I sort of love how this video starts with the Push and then immediately throws it back to its great grandfathers
Loved "men without hats" from the 80's and safety dance, had a 12" long mix of the song. I could get up, washed and dressed for work as a 16 year old before the song had finished. Now 39 years later 😭😭😭 looking back with fond memories 😝👍
Me to brother 👍 I’m 56 ! 😞😁
@@andy.m265 I don't see any reason, at all (I hope), why you and Mike can't dance and have a good time while listening to this song still!
I say GO FOR IT! You've got every right to do so!
I think you mean twelve minutes long not inches.
Also, Mike Heap? As in Spaced Mike Heap? As in Upstart Crow Mike Heap? As in Friday Night Dinner Mike Heap? :)
@@minirock000 Probably referring to the record size. 12" singles were generally just the extended versions of songs.
@@andy.m265 *too*
I cant believe how complex and layered that song is !!!! Crazy! 🤯🤯🤯
Absolutely.... 💫💫💫
I keep coming back to this.
This combination of famous, vintage american and japanese synths sounds fantastic👍
There seriously needs to be more safety dancing in this world.
💯❤️
Wow man you are going to get a DMCA violation for perfectly recreating the OG. Great job
I've been on a decades long quest to find a recreation of The Safety Dance so I can sing the vocals and I've finally found it. Now what am I going to do with all my time.
Oh please!!!! This needs a longer version. I can't stand making longer versions of my own videos so I understand the reluctance but this one is just such an incredibly groovy cover that I would love to see it with more of those instruments!
DUDE! That's in the POCKET, sir: quite well done. Thanks for caring enough to do good work on this well-followed classic... nailed that shit.
As somebody who has always wondered what the heck one is supposed to do with like 10 keyboards worth of synths this was both educational and magical. 🤩
Oh my, this is really really good this one . . . Its not just you've got fantastic gear to play live with :) Its your knowledge of patch programming and sounds selection that defo sets you apart from other cover artists :) "Your defo one of CZcamss finests buddy"
Thanks David. I appreciate your support 🙏
You'd be surprised over how many hit songs used the default settings/patches e t c. They didn't fiddle around as much as you'd think.
@@azynkron most of these synths do not have defaults, though ..
@@azynkron only when your talking about the Yamaha DX7 / Roland D50, no one could get their head around that stuff! These old analogs had no presets which was the beauty of them.
That drum beat sounds so killer
Please play this at sets on the beach or slims something, I’ll be there for it, a full version would be amazing
I'll be in Perth for Ministry of Sound Classical playing a set of Recreations on Dec 11. And more Perth shows are on the way :)
LOL - "You can dance if you wannooh!"
What a classic 80's song, thanks for sharing!
I keep coming back for the combination of that MultiMoog and that Oberheim. Man, they sound fabulous.
That vintage sound...Wow!!!
how a meme song from the 80s becomes a lesson in brilliance.
Brilliant! this song was my whole life for a couple of years. They had a great medieval video too, the band were French Canadian
A couple of years? Were you in an American prison somewhere in Cuba?
And they were also without hats...
at least the men were.
One of my favorites another good one I liked by them was I got the message they were a great group the 80s were fun times
@@stevegarcia3174 When the xirs are not looking, put on some Sam Kinison and Eddie Murphy concerts.
I’ve seen that video. Jolly as it was, sinister memories of The Wicker Man kept creeping in.
Moog Multimoog 1978-81 for fat bass, Roland VP-330 1979-80 vocoda (and can do strings), Roland Jupiter 4 1978-81, Oberheim OB-8 1983-85, sequential Circuits Prophet 5 (1978-84). What a collection. They are sounding great too. I'll have to watch some more of your videos.
Analog synths are on a league of their own. It's almost as if you can feel the music brushing up against you.
Great job. 👍
It's all 1983 up in here... love it!
That Oberheim OB-8 made this remake sound so much better lol. Overall awesome remake!
One minute is just not enough! :-) CZcams audio handicap aside, that sounds Fing AWESOME!
TOO SHORT! Perfect rendition, captures the era so well.
I saw Men Without Hats in 1983. One of the most memorable concerts of my life.
Ah, the glory of the Hats. Makes me feel all Montreal-y :).
OMG!!!! My disturbing childhood just came back to me. I was in scouts and the only kid with a cassette deck (and batteries) had the 12" mix is as a cassingle and played it non- stop for 3 days and nights.
I never get tired of hearing that old school synth.
Brings me back to the Bio Dome
after hearing this and reading the comments it's unanimous ”MORE MORE " BRAVO 👏
That Micromoog always steals the show for me. I can't explain it, but the bass on these songs is always bang-on!
It’s actually a Multimoog which is basically an expanded Micromoog 😊
@@lukemillionmusic and now I want one!
Brought back memories!
I've still got the vinyl single!!
Dood that was so satisfying. Such a rich hearty synth sound
That sounded identical to the original! Superb 👍👍🎉
You have a nice collection of keyboards.. I was working on a collection of boards until the Corona virus hit.. I had 30+ years on the same job and the company laid off half of its work force and never called us back.. I ended up saling 8 keyboards and a kickass PA system... why am I telling ya'll this ?? oh well, it felt good to tell somebody. Lol. again, you have an awesome collection of keyboards..
@Randy Trader - capitalism is not your friend :(
@@zoned7609 not in this case.. but I do start retirement next month and stop using my savings for bills.. then I'm going shopping.. sad thing is I'll never be able to replace what I had.. I had my first synth an Arp Omni .. it paid for a couple of house payments..
@@zoned7609 it's no one's friend. From the workers the capital pays to make the exploitation of labor a little less inhumane to the capital exchangers/"owners" whose whole life revolves making the decision that's likely to make them the most profit: so anything from high turnover rates to keep labor expenditures low to changing focus within or outside of the company's main industry because researching medicine isn't as profitable as developing the auto-injector it comes in.
Why we've decided to shackle ourselves with an economic system that ends up pitting each other against one another during the best of practice when we could use better, more fair, more popular methods of producing stuff for one another where the only person exploiting labor is the one performing their own labor to better humanity I'll never understand.
Shame it's only one minute long. I was really getting into it.
This brought back memories. Thank you.
Alas, they were not happy memories - but for complete different reasons to your video.
Immediately subscribed. Holy shit. You're a god.
It’s a great One hit Wonder that just hit all the right notes like they all do! Sounds great!
You should listen to some of their other stuff. It's pretty good.
Spot on! I’d pay much 💰💰💰 to see you perform the 80’s live!
That is some serious sidechaining on the bass, sounds awesome!
this is the exact type of content i was looking for, keep it up my fellow musician
That was sooooo good. 👌😎
Shit, that was a trebuchet launch into nostalgia. A++ job
Fantastisch!👏👍🤗thx luke🎹🎶💃🏻
Oh my gosh that opraheim I can listen to you play that part of the song with that instrument for hours
Great band from Montreal Quebec Canada Men Without Hats . Good Job !!
Thats bloody brilliant. Takes me back to those happy days
That absolutely rocked my shit. Well done.
Wow, love the sound of that Oberheim.
Love it man!! THank you for doing this!!
Ffucking nailed it! And I know, because I was THERE!
There is a killer metal version of this. It is VERY good!

The combo of the Jupiter-4 and the oberheim made my hairs stand up.
Damn that Sequential Circuits sounds incredible
Yes the 80‘s sound I LOVE IT!!! Thanks for the inspiration!
That was amazing. Love the vintage hardware.
Brings back a lot of memories.
Ohhhh, Really nice job !!! I love the muti-layered setup to acheive this. Thanks for sharing :)
That was epic
I really wish this was longer
When you pulled out that kazoo at 0:27, I was sure it was the absolute worst thing to do, but I gotta admit, you made it work. KUDOS TO YOU!!!
I always need to hear your awesome “snippets” 50 tines!
Awesome. I had a smile on my face the whole time. Wish it was longer. Love it
Oh my!
There is more to this pop tune than I gave credit. I have that 80’s love/hate with the music.
You sir, alongside XangeliX, are a "Lord of the Synth"!
No idea why this showed up on my feed, but I'm glad it did.
I absolutely love the analogue synths!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Such a warm & fuzzy retro sound that can't be replicated by digital equipment..This sound made the 80's...🤘😎🤘
I knew this would be good…you didn’t disappoint.
Goin' "Old School" sounds so sweet on his vintage gear! Hell Yeah!
00:39 What is that monster! She sounds like a beast!
Wonderful. Full version please!!
Perfect. I loved this song as a kid one of the first songs I ever remembered, also love synth so perfect marriage
Man this was really, really neat. Thank you for sharing.
Boy I love these HOT vintage sounds!!!🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
That was soooo bad ass! Would loved to seen you play the whole thing, and some other great songs too.
Men Without Hats fucking rule.
back to the 80s club !!!!!
Awesome Safety Dance Remake... Jupiter 4 sounds at 0:29 amazing👍
it is said that this sound is made by the Prophet 5 too
Love the Prophet and the Oberheim sound. Fat, and analog for days.
you must be your keyboard tech's favorite client.
Nice job BTW
I used to LOVE this song! Still do it seems!!!!
This song makes me smile every time I hear it!! Brings back some seriously awesome childhood memories! I sure do miss the 80's. Except for the hair, whoever told me that a mullet with a rat tail was cool should have been slapped!!
Just stumbled across this video. Haven't played it yet but my suspicion is that this is the moment that the internet has been building towards
I always can't help but chuckle when I hear the riff at 0:20. Such cheesy goodness. I mean this as a compliment!
love the organ its my favorite
I love it! My first thought when hearing the lead at 0:20 was Pointer Sisters' "Jump For My Love" ❤️ absolutely nothing beats analog. It's like a living tone vs dead. Thanks for keeping it alive! 😁
nailed it!
I love it. Incredible effort you made here. The analog synth sound cannot be beat.
Oooh that arpeggio at the end!!
Super juicy sounds all round superb stuff 🙌🏼🎹😎
