In my mind, one of the greatest pieces of music ever, certainly one of the greatest pieces of the Twentieth Century. The many motifs and orchestral colors are luscious!
It is one of the greatest and most influential pieces ever- totally unprecedented in many ways, like the equally great and unprecedented The Rite of Spring of Stravinsky, from 1913. The Prelude was composed in 1894. It sounds very 20th century, so Debussy was a little more ahead of his time than you thought!
The sound of the flute in the beginning is so soft I always ends up checking my volume🤣😭 BUT this piece is so amazing tho, I keep going back to this💕💕💕💕
Is that Slatkin?. The winds are superb. The tone of the Flautist is stunning. The Oboist... His languid, tangy sound reminds me of the great Fred Genovese, (Boston Symphony).. excellent job. English Hornist is amazing. Detroit Symphony is way too often overlooked. Nice to hear this masterpiece played at a proper tempo.
Great performance of a great piece... my only complaint is that the cameraman seemed to struggle with who was soloing when (completely missed the English horn)
Who is here from TwoSet?

Man, thanks to Eddy I discovered this masterpiece... This is so beautiful, I'm crying
.

Just wonderful. Flute and English horn are superb. And the crotales!
*shed a tear* I love Debussy too, Eddy. Like it's until that point that I would fangirl to him 😂
9 seconds in...cough, cough
But really a beautiful piece
Just close your eyes and it almost imagines the scenery for you.
Amazing music...Left me mesmerized towards the end.. I thank the orchestra for performing in such a magnificent manner

I did the same thing.

Wonderful rendition - this has to be the gold standard - thank you for posting
It’s amazing when you hear it. But when you see the musicians actually playing the sounds it brings a whole new life to the music.😭
Great taste Eddy!
Ling linggggg
oonga boonga
Great performance, except for the person's watch alarm that goes off strategically right at the quiet intro with just the flute solo. Oops!
Sharon Sparrow is the principal flute/ the fawn
you are such a legend, that was part of my homework
Sublime
Awesome composition by Debussy.
I know this is a popular flute excerpt, but as an oboist I can’t help but find the oboe lines top notch as well as the flute
WORDS FAIL ME...
7:20 I'd like to see the solo violin playing though......
Great performance of a great piece... my only complaint is that the cameraman seemed to struggle with who was soloing when (completely missed the English horn)
you're wrong the only soloist is the listening and how they interpret this work of art
Beautiful. As great as Bernstein's with the Santa Cecilia Orchestra...even slightly broader than Bernstein's tempo.
Cool.
Goichi Suda ans Fire, Sun and Rain sent me here lmao
Wonderful. I'm trying to find a good recording of this on Spotify... Any suggestions?
I really like Vengerov's playing on a version on Spotify.
@@koh8614 that's my favorite version of all time but it's unavailable rn for some reason :( I can't find any other place to listen to it

How in the fuck do you give this a thumbs down? Haters gonna hate.
wasnt this in a movie, possible once upon a time in america?
What part?
I think in the american movie" portrait of Jennie" (1948), especially the flute solo at the beginning....😊
