YACHT, "Hey Hey" - Skyline Sessions

The Los Angeles-based band YACHT (acronym: Young Americans Challenging High Technology) made a splash in 2009 with the album See Mystery Lights, inspired by West Texas and the unexplained phenomenon of the Marfa lights. The critically acclaimed electro-pop album explored mysterious themes like cults, religion and secret societies, and the band has continued to investigate strong subject matter (as well as record every album in Marfa). The band’s most recent album Chain Tripping was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Immersive Audio Album, and it was made using Artificial Intelligence technology to craft melodies and lyrics. The result is a fascinating set of songs that mines early electronic music and disco rhythms, yet feels refreshingly new and experimental. YACHT visited Skyline Sessions to record “Sad Money” and “Hey Hey,” both from Chain Tripping.

I've been a fan since 2015, "I thought the future would be cooler" has been my album of the year, I still listen to it regularily. Prophetic! Don't know why they didn't hit the ground running. In this case I think the correct anwer is "the aucience doesn't fit the standards".

Loved Psychic City on the GTA5 soundtrack, just recently had Miles & Miles on my Spotify discover weekly list, after listening to it a few times was surprised to see it was by Yacht (though her voice is a giveaway). Miles & Miles is such a banging tune, deserved a music video!
