just 2 men bantering in their native tongue
i heard some of takanaka's stuff a while ago and was like "Hey, this guy would sound great playing with santana". Never in my life have I been so right.
@@davidgazdziak2922 i think u might have ;)
I thought exactly the same thing.
Does it work?
Oh hell yes
Same here lmao
how serendipitous
Or tight
Carlos Santana mouthing "Woah!" at Takanakas playing is a sight to see.
When was that
@@slugoo6474about 5:10-5:15
it makes me smile so big every time I see that interaction, haha.
Am I sitting in a dimly lit home office, or am I blasting through the Caribbean in a lava-hot go fast boat? Hard to tell.
Imagine an alternate timeline where takanaka played at Woodstock '69
I am actually seeing Santana live this summer for my 23rd birthday! So excited! Unfortunately, I'll most likely never get to see Takanaka live
That would have been sick tbh. There is barely any documentation or interviews in English with Takanaka
hopefully he'll still be doing live shows in his 80s
how is the crowd not losing their minds, rending their cloth, pulling out their hair?!
holy fucking shit
welcome to japan its worth livin in there.
Gave me a small but meaningful reason to keep going tonight. Thank you Mr. Takanaka/Santana for keeping some brightness in my life
hope youre doing alright :)
Thats some takanaka magic for ya
So amazing they have the keyboard player from Takanakas solo tours here. Her energy and abilities are amazing!! What a treat of a video on all levels
her name is Izumi Kobayashi and she's got a successful solo career
@@beenthroughnam3747 this is what I came here to say. Everyone Takanaka plays with is prolific. If you like the playing of someone in any of Takanaka's songs, I bet you my life they have a solo album that never left Japan
yeah she was absolute fire on that solo and her ending descending tonal flourish was a mic drop. Nuckin Futs
It seems Carlos and Takanaka where having some discrepancies when they were going back and forth, but they played it off so well. A true gem in live music.
I think they are just swapping between call and response and harmony. Anyway, that's the nature of improvisation.
they were like clashing trying synch with each other...awesome
Santana's sudden interruption surprised Takanaka that Takanaka got confused how to pull a quick response. But truly it ended up awesome
one is merican mexican form his time, the other is chinese japanese from his time... then THIS happens ;:)
At 7:18 it looks like Takanaka gets super thrown off by Carlos jumping in but he plays it off well and they end up doing a great call and response. I love Takanaka man, he's so versatile.
the josuke pfp epic
Just look at how much fun everyone is having playing their instruments. I wish I was born earlier to have experienced this.
You still can! I'm 16, and I formed my own band, we play Carlos tunes!
Sucks I’ve only recently found about this but this is right up there with the Santana/Clapton sets that bring tears to the eyes that understand. Takanaka is a top 10 guitarist and no one can tell me otherwise. Rolling stone and other rankings can gtfo
Bro it's got me crying rn I'm glad someone else gets it lol
Got me teary eyes too
Crying is only allowed at funerals, at the grand canyon, and when listening to masters like these
Amen brothers and sisters! Such a real passion you can feel by just seeing how happy he is playing unlike most others faking it or flexing... This just touches you!
Takanaka still gives lives at his age you can go see him in Japan and it's very affordable I'm planning to do so next summer 2023
This is one of the gnarliest live videos I have ever seen, thank you for posting.
What does gnarliest mean in this context?
@@chogussy721 Soulful, beautiful and emotionally moving.
Same
@@chogussy721 grabs you by the short hairs and drags you into musical realms you only dreamt of.
The last 4 minutes of this video are insane and some of the best minutes of recorded music you'll ever listen too
Cheers! From the states with love ❤
5:15 I adore this moment!
long time santana fan here after accidently finding this i shall listen to more takanaka
two legends bringing the east and west together to jam
5:33 The piano man Kiyosumi Ishikawa is onfire 🔥🔥 doing amazing "hammond" stuff here. You guys always looking Izumi Kobayashi, she's great too but Kiyosumi Ishikawa is the underrated guy. He's not get enough recognition for his awesome work
This is my favorite video to come back too again & again, I've probably listened to this at least 100+times but within a time of 1year, and man.. I just be happy & vibin everytime, it's so good; my dad loved Santana and I showed him this song and he was like "Damn" which that's a lot from my dad 😄😄 we both loved it :)
Thank you for your support
Personally I believe this is the superior version of ready to fly because this is incredible
complete and utter musical excellence. i dont think i have ever been more enthralled by a live performance
Takanaka just rips so hard all the time. I love it.
Two masters together
This is one of the greatest shit i’ve ever watch. I am really happy to watch this masterpiece. Long live, music.
To me this is the greatest piece of music ever recorded.
I agree, it's up there bud. Hard to believe this was 43 years ago
Takanaka literally played all the perfect notes
Carlos got our man Takanaka straight YAKKKKKED 😂😂😂
Masayoshi totally put on a clinic, as he should have on his own tune. I think Carlos was almost at a loss for notes and in awe. Great Vid. Cheers.
Thanks bud love me Masayoshi love me Santana, simple as.
His music always lightens my mood.
I am so happy for knowing Takanaka, changed my life :)
Thank you, cheers!
this is legendary
Peak Humanity
The musicianship of these people is amazing!
Damn right awesome!
They all did such an amazing job. It looked oppressively hot that day. You can see it giving everyone a nice beatdown, but they fought strong and hard through it like rock stars do.
9:51 amazing
This should have millions of views
This just has to be one of the best live performances of any song ever.
This blew my mind
Those first five minutes are ascended.
Definitely a great place to stop by if you feel like your guitar or music inspiration is beginning to dwindle.
I always go back to japanese rock because its 1 of 5 reasons that I started playing, so yeah, you're right. Definitely stokes the flames
My gawd, this was amazing to listen and see. I got so into the music that I felt like as if I was really there, seeing these 2 great artists play together is amazing. Wish they could have collaborated on a bigger scale, like some form of studio album.
Solo hay lágrimas en mis ojos.
😭🥲
🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Check out Takanaka's album brazilian skies!
Salve pacero 🤝
10:00 Precussion - "This shit aint over till I say so"
EXCEPTIONNEL VOUS M'ENTENDEZ
Such a beautiful ending
I always wondered how they would play together, and this confirms my theory of it sounding amazing. Gonna manifest that there is a crossover between early Michael Jackson and Tatsuro Yamashita...
THANK YOU
wow masayoshi gold !
Holy shit, where have I been all these years...
Beautiful mix of sounds!!
Man he looks so young here!
This makes me so genuinely happy.
Chills down my spine, incredible
My favorite part is when they start having a conversation and it starts out a little rough but ends up evolving into something beautiful and transcendental
Muchas gracias por el máster
Much as gracias siuuuuuuuu
Thanks, it's appreciated :)
Universal language
It was like a drum solo at perfectly decreasing tempo.
He makes it look so easy... fantastic video, thank you for posting. What a legend.

This is totally badass!
No matter how hard you try, that one Asian kid in class would always nails it.
Takanaka San you are a legend.
god dam, this is good.
just around the 8:00 mark is absolute gold
Nice
Chapeau!
Insane
THX bruh
Woah
My dad is a biggest fan of Santana though!!! This music sounds really like a 80s & 90s Toei Anime!!!!
Michael Shrieve and the rhythm section are on fireeeeeee here
Not Michael Shrieve it is Graham Lear...
@@russellsummers5950both legendary drummer in their own right, but yes graham Lear absolutely tears it up in this performance
OMG.....!!!!!
reds seal of approval
This is so cool. Is there a live album or video recording of this entire show?
