It's suppose to be fun & not taken seriously, it's game changing cause she was the first "mainstream" artist to involve electronic underground music. It's bubblegum bass, so it has elements of bubblegum pop and hard hitting electronic music.
Charli xcx’s music was always under the bubblegum bass/pop umbrella. Vroom Vroom is definitely game changing because she did make hyperpop more known especially since she was always famous in the pop genre
Yeah and the way she died is bizarre. I was reading about her on Wikipedia and apparently she was trying to take picture of the moon and fell off her roof and died. Like wtf? I thought it was a joke when I read it.
Vroom Vroom is a game changer as to reinventing the pop genre and contributing to the evolution of hyperpop and futuristic pop. Yes, the EP is not as revered and polished as her following projects because over the years she established her own distinctive sound. Gone, Forever, Claws and Silver Cross are definitely pop songs for the books. R.I.P SOPHIE, she literally changed pop music forever and her legacy will live on through records of fellow pop artists. Her utterly unique sound prove her to be a visionary in her field, testing the limits of pop. If ure interested u should really check out songs like Ponyboy (f*cking jawdropping, innovative, mindblowing, mouthwatering pop song) or Immaterial!!!! Yes, Vroom Vroom is not everyone's cup of tea (I don't think it's Charlis best work either, as she evolved into a pop icon with releasing 'Charli' and 'how I'm feeling now' for me) but she sure is provoking modern pop music and with Sophie's production she is taking a step further in testing pop musics cavity
*SOPHIE is the credited producer of this song, she's a transwoman and a Charli's best friend. Sadly she passed away on January of 2021 because of an accident.*
It’s a gay anthem and a game changer! This song helped bring hyper pop to the mainstream. When this song came out the pop girls were not making this kind of music.
I mean also think about the pop landscape in 2016. How freakish this sounded. Coming from the "Boom Clap" girl nonetheless, it was so surreal. A (gay) classic 4EVER.
I still think this song changed the game when it dropped back in 2016. at least for charli it did because it switched up her sound so drastically later working with pc label artists. a lot of pc music is self-aware so the use of car sounds in the beat and charli’s lyrics like ‘beep beep’ is a bit of fun. very on the nose so I see why some people think it’s cringe or corny but idk I find it a bit cheeky 🙃
The "beep beep" and "let me ride, let me ride" are supposed to be tongue in cheek and campy. It's supposed to be a fun song man. She's not taking herself too seriously.
This is game changing. charli xcx is a big artist for spreading hyperpop, a.g cook and pc music are a big part of it. And pop music has since incorporated hyperpop elements. And till this days some experience music still have elements of hyperpop. If it changed parts of the music making and the industry, I would call it game changing.
you have to react to sophie, the producer of this songgg her production is SO GOOD. unfortunately she died in 2021 from falling off a balcony while trying to take a pic of the moon
The first time I heard this I didn't like it, it was my first time listening to Hyper Pop, then it drilled it's way in my head and I fell in to the hyper pop loop hope, 100 gecs, ayesha erotica, sophie and ofc charli xcx💖 Brady just needs time to get in tune with the campy and experimental pop
It's game changer cause Charli XCX definitely help Hyperpop to be introduced into mainstream music. This song and EP is the start of everything 😂
The fact people reacting to this today are unfazed by Vroom Vroom is a testament to how influential and game changing it was back then
