So many people will do anything they can to avoid engaging guard work, including plenty of backpedaling and stalling. So refreshing to see Tye aggressively engaging and passing.
If More BJJ guys shot takedowns 8/10 times the legs will clear for you especially With doubles. Most matches are 18 mins of trying to past and it gets pretty boring. 🙄
@@Clark3218 That's not true. It isn't that easy to complete a takedown straight into a dominant position. Especially vs elite guards like Nicky's, they will 99% of the time scramble into some kind of guard during the takedown
How about the guard pullers actually be MADE to take their opponent down and submit them..? Hmmmm, now THERE'S an idea.
@@thebeast9606 i love a good takedown as much as the next guy, but I'm also ok with watching jiu-jitsu when I choose to tune into a jiu-jitsu match.
Good match. Nice to see a good passing game in no-gi, really rare these days.
Agreed
Not rare, people don't train lol
@@keeganpoteet not how that works. It's possible for humans to provide analysis independent of their own involvement in a given subject.
Really great movement from both guys. Great guard work by Nicky... Tye’s passing game is a real treat to watch. Crazy pace Tye kept the whole match
Using leg pin passing to neutralize leg lock attacks, brilliant!
was just thinking the same thing. Love how he stands on the ankle and walks around the leg
bherm100 interesting topic that I heard someone call limb substitution or limb transferability. Roy Dean talks about the topic on his channel sometimes, but essentially just the idea that if you can transfer and use your other limbs to free up another you become a greater threat i.e such as Tye using his leg to pin Nickys leg to the floor rather than using both of his hands and arms to control Nickys legs.
Been an interesting thing to pay attention to while I roll in my gym, always trying find a substitution to pinning something to the ground instead of my hands.
I use it most frequently when passing someone’s guard. Instead of using both hands to pin their arms to the ground Ill try to catch one of their hands or arms and pass it off down below to my knees. So instead of holding them down the whole time with my hands I now have it pinned with the knee and now have both hands free to work with
Love to see how NR develops against this type of passing, as I'm sure this is going to be the playbook against leg lockers.
timestamp?
Driving your knee into someones inside leg also helps.
29 year old white belt here watching two kids pass and recover guard like absolute demons
That was a passing clinic by Tye, amazing stuff.
Ramiro Spinelli Yeah you’re right. Awesome 👏🏻
That was clever AF
@anonymous Nicky didn't do to shabby
lol it wasn't at first. He really struggled. He had to wear Ryan down to do anything. I wouldn't call it a clinic lmao
@@iWubmusic Ryan had barely any offensive in the match and got passed a bunch of times. He did not get subbed, yes, but it was really one sided.
Wow this is more of a testament to Tyes passing skills than it is to any particular weaknesses on Nickys part. Great show from both sides, big fan of Tye, look forward to seeing him continue to dominate in the future
Tye looks like he's improved tremendously.
Compare this to his match with Paulo Miyao in 2019. He put up a great showing, putting him in a nasty kneebar, a heel hook, and came close to a sweep. But at the same time he also got swept twice (easily), mounted by Miyao, and of course Tye did not come close to passing.
This may be the first time I've ever seen Nicky Ryan really be handled and dominated
Paulo Miyao pretty much dominated Nicky a few years ago.
@@nukenfry true this, I got to watch that match
@@nukenfry Nicky was also a blue belt. Miyao was a black, So there is your answer.
@@iWubmusic nickys beat plenty of black belts in his blue belt days so he wasn't some blue belt newbie
Nicky got all the horrible genetics. Like Danny devito to Arnold Schwarzenegger In Twins.
Tye’s pressure passing and slick fakes were phenomenal. Solid game and such a beautiful display of Jiu-Jitsu. This guy is only going to get better and better. I saw a lot of similarities to JT Torres’ game, and it’s effective.
First time I ever saw fakes was Nicky Ryan. When he was 14 😒
3,000 styles to try to pass the guard, impressive!! Nicky and Tye are the new generation of world class Jiu Jitsu
This is getting us past the sort of boring leg game into something more dynamic and interesting to watch.
Cardio was the real winner here. Most cannot continuously attempt to pass for 20 mins. Thats the advantage of simply hunting Leg Locks. You are on your back. They are on their feet trying to pass legs with Arms. Tye is the Best.
Class act. Rooting for you now on Tye
This is aoj/atos style passing, tye executed it very well by connecting different passing and it's very enjoyable to watch. It made me think of Rafael mendes, as he used to pin the opponent's leg in sparring a lot as well.
This seems very unique to Ruotolos. (There was a very passive aggressive post where Ru's said that AOJ was currently teaching the Ru game now.)
This entire match it looks like Nicky wants to ask Papa John, what do I do he is putting his foot on my leg? You never taught us that, and meanwhile Johns face is saying, Oh my God, I never thought of that.
Tye has a good style for mma. Imagine how much damaged he could have done from ground and pound.
Nicky would starch him from the bottom if they had gloves on no 🧢
That guy on the bottom has no wrestling. He has no business in MMA ring. Better just stick with jiu-jitsu.
@@kallepikku4991 you know youre talking about kids, right?
Watching sport BJJ and commenting on how they'd get beat up in MMA is like people watching MMA striking and saying they'd get KO'd in boxing. They're entirely different sports, and afaik Nicky Ryan isn't interested in transitioning to MMA.
Tye Ruotolo is a great example of jiu jitsu
These kids are not good at bjj
@@breaker3269 lol. Even for a troll comment, this didn't age well
2 black belch
What a match! Beautiful 👏👏👏
These guys are skiled. This match was pure chess.
Incredible, excellent Match 💜🏅🏅🏅
Rutolo did an amazing job with a young leg guru.
I didn't see their actual weights...are they both 170 now?
it seems that conditioning was a big factor in this match
14:10 that’s not More Plates More Dates in the background is it?
His game is good
This was a great freaking match
Micael Galvão, mandou abraço.
Outro para ele.
Pode continuar orando muito.
Nice 👌👌
Tremendous
10:40 achei que ele ia morder o aniversário kkkkkk😅😅😅😅
Wow nice
When is this from?
~ June 5th according to my Google search
Treading on those legs to pass. Nice.
All I see is 15 minutes of Gound & Pound.
"Gordon is blessed with let's just say, 'the genes' to be bigger."
Injectable genes.
Pharma genes. Come on...
Still a knowledgeable athlete who gets the job done.
9:29 Tonon is like "its my fate in 2 years to get choked out by Tye within 2 minutes"
Too soon.
You're lucky I had allergies! 😂🤣
Wich weightclass was this ?
66 kg
@@riandunneleavy4161 it was welterweight, they way to big for 66kg's now, maybe 4 years ago they were 66 lol
@@Activisnbeams oh yeah. I always confuse pounds and kg
Would like to have seen the Burnswick guy be more agressive. Great match.
He normally is but maybe the top pressure made him tired?
Is that Hank Azaria as the host?
Tye made history today he cracked the code of leg attack defence a master class in strategy and defence .by studying this match it’s going to be a new phase of bjj again we have seen trends that faded...
De la riva , rubber guard ,birimbolo , leg locks..tye just closed the leg lock chapter it’s going to be a new era after this match......
and yet people still getting their legs attacked
Standing on a leg?
@@John-ly5rh well ruotulo and the atos team didn’t lose many matches by leg locks mostly chokes it means they doing something right.
Check galvao vs toquinho .
@@Nabil1976 Ronaldo said hold my Acai lol
Nicky, my friend. Looking thicker, stronger.
He looks like. Little goblin. He got all the recessive genes.
I wonder what would be the outcome if this was a no time submission only match.. Nice match though...
Nicky dying of exhaustion
Micael Galvao is the best.
I haven't seen him fighting here.
The death squad just got exposed! Just shin rides and leg pins to stop those pesky leg lockers 😂
No one got exposed buddy. Tye is just much more athletic and multidimensional (and technical) than Nicky.
@@anonymousreviewer169 not to mention bigger stronger and more conditioned.
Heavy hips n north south brah cmon....
don't even put 1080p -_-
@14:56 that's the longest 3 : 44 I've ever seen. lol wtf
Nikky got his ass kicked damn! Completely dominated.
Nicky needs sonething. His coach will jump on this one. This match was much better for ryan than ruatolo. Win shwin
Facts
Tye is so f'ing inexorable.
am i the only one that think this mat seems slipperier than a slip n' slide???
they need new commentators
Great technique as practitioner - but boring to see someone just trying to work from guard as a spectator
Perfect example of winning with being the better overall athlete.
This post is a perfect example of not knowing what you're watching. Tye shut down Nicky's whole game through technique. By controlling and pinning the legs, he never let Nicky enter into leg entanglements, and Nicky had no answer. Beautiful pressure, movement, and execution in his long step passing as well.
Ross Trent I noticed him literally standing on his bottom leg a lot. That was frustrating Nicky I think
or ya know just very incredible guard passing
I find the ref chewing gum, extremely disrespectful....
jiu jitsu is boring when both are good
Y’all love Using Gordon Ryan’s name for views
First !
What's the point of passing someone's guard multiple times if you end up in north south with no ability to submit him and lose the position in 15 seconds every time?
Whats the point of laying on your back and getting ragdolled for 15 Minuten? Imagine punches being involved?
Nicky way too passive
exposed
Roids didn't helped this time
Looked like Nicky was limping to me!
Anyone else think this British guy is terrible at commentating?
Ruotolo is way bigger. Grappling is a strong man sport.
The secretive pie gradually stop because instruction wessely transport of a complex airbus. teeny-tiny, regular mandolin
Nicky Ryan is a one trick pony
Haha kid you are way better than Garry he's a scrub!
Stalling ain't winning and going for shallow submission "attempts" shouldn't count for jack.
who was stalling mate?
There was zero stalling from either athlete in this match. Not sure how much more you can ask for. Both of these kids went hard and left it all out there. This was an awesome match especially considering it happened in the middle of a pandemic
4 guard passes and that was stalling? Lol.
I think you're either a white or blue belt
Nicky got mauled by someone 2 years his junior, very sad display.
They need to add punches to bjj so we don't have to watch this bullshit guard game
Combat Jiu-Jitsu
Watch MMA. Sounds like you just don't like sport BJJ.
This is the worst BJJ I've ever seen. WTF?!
This is bc you know a shit about jj.
Shut up white belt
"Booohoooo, daddy Danaher what happened? You said if I bought your $200 videos i could win, boohooo"😭😭
