"The Thing of the idols, the green, sticky spawn of the stars, had awaked to claim his own. After vigintillions of years great Cthulhu was loose again, and ravening for delight!" - Here is a fun track we made for the legendary FANGORIA horror magazine. It is an ode to H.P. Lovecraft's great old god 'Cthulhu'.
The track features an opening monologue from Corin Hardy, director of The Nun and The Hallow.
Gunship member Dan Haigh describes the song to Dread Central, saying, “I just felt like writing something creeping, twisted, and possibly dripping with slime. Most importantly, I felt like creating something transportative. I hope the track takes its listeners on a journey to the darkest corners of their imaginations… listen - taste the salt on the sea air - witness the slathering foul beast rise from his slumber…”
Song Written and Produced by Dan Haigh
Vocals written and Produced by Alex Westaway
Voice Over by Corin Hardy
Mixed by Carl Bown at Treehouse Studios
Mastered by Stratton Oakmont Mastering

Intro monologue:
“They worshipped, so they said, the Great Old Ones who lived ages before there were any men, and who came to the young world out of the sky. Those Old Ones were gone now, inside the earth and under the sea; but their dead bodies had told their secrets in dreams to the first men, who formed a cult which had never died. This was that cult, and the prisoners said it had always existed and always would exist, hidden in distant wastes and dark places all over the world until the time when the great priest Cthulhu, from his dark house in the mighty city of R'lyeh under the waters, should rise and bring the earth again beneath his sway.”

Bodies of water naturally equilibriate upon the surface, aqua literally means even, level surface. The body of water is horizontal from one land mass to the next, the natural physics of a standing water body will not change with scale. Water is formless, shapeless, it pools, takes the shape of its container and flows to points of lower elevation. If the body of water is on a gradient it will flow, taking the least path of resistance seeking it's lowest energetic state where it will continually seek, find and remain level. We can practically demonstrate surface tension, adhesion and meniscus on a small scale, however the globe claim you were born into has you on the top of a nature defying sphere with bodies of water declining away from you without flowing? You know this is absurd. The child in you knew it. You were just taught to suspend it.
I'm not claiming to know the full dimensions of the earth here. I don't identify as a "flat earther" and I'm deeply suspicious of the cult behaviour the mainstream media is beginning to depict about flat earth as much as the next guy.
There is discovery and exploration to be had though, but first the individual needs their own mind back. The very foundation of your existence is knowing truly where you are. Without it, all the ideas and concepts of who, what, and why you are here and what life's about are simply delusions.
Children don't deserve it. If it's not demonstrable, verifiable or falsifiable, it's the very definition of pseudoscience.

Encounter: The Horse of the Invisible. While traveling down a street, the investigators hear the sound of approaching hoofbeats. Whether they hide or stand in the open, the experience is the same: an invisible, riderless horse is charging towards them. As the horse nears, however, it begins to turn visible by degrees. First the skeleton materializes, then the muscles, nerves, organs, and finally the skin. Its point of fulI visibility is the point at which it passes the investigators, and that stage lasts only a moment; as it starts to move away, it dematerializes in opposite order. The complete process lasts scant seconds, and then the invisible horse is gone again.
A horse only??

Wow!! The mark of a band that's truly going places is when they don't repeat themselves. So much synthwave relies on the same tired nostalgic tropes, but Gunship does something fresh and different each time. Dark All Day was one of the best albums of last year, but this sounds like it's on a totally different level. Keep it up, guys!!

The music itself is great and fits the subject matter perfectly, but that voice over was cheesy and sounded like something from Nickelodeon lol
@@andersonprimer it's always been kinda a staple of lovecraftian horror to have a cheesy, over the top narration at some point.
@@andersonprimer I have to agree with Lukan. Lovecraft was largely published in pulp magazines. Admittedly his stuff is a cut above the rest, hence why he's remembered as a legend, but it wasn't without its cheese factor either.
"These Great Old Ones, were not composed altogether of flesh and blood. They had shape but that shape was not made of matter. When the stars were right, They could plunge from world to world through the sky; but when the stars were wrong They could not live. But although They no longer lived, They would never really die. They all lay in stone houses in their great city of R'lyeh, preserved by the spells of mighty Cthulhu for a glorious resurrection when the stars and the earth might once more be ready for Them. But at that time some force from outside must serve to liberate Their bodies. The spells that preserved them intact likewise prevented Them from making an initial move, and They could only lie awake in the dark and think whilst uncounted millions of years rolled by. They knew all that was occurring in the universe, for Their mode of speech was transmitted thought. Even now They talk in Their tombs. When, after infinities of chaos, the first men came, the Great Old Ones spoke to the sensitive among them by moulding their dreams; for only thus could Their language reach the fleshly minds of mammals. The cult would never die till the stars came right again, and the secret priests would take great Cthulhu from His tomb to revive His subjects and resume His rule of earth. The time would be easy to know, for then mankind would have become as the Great Old Ones; free and wild and beyond good and evil, with laws and morals thrown aside and all men shouting and killing and reveling in joy. Then the liberated Old Ones would teach them new ways to shout and kill and revel and enjoy themselves, and all earth would flame with a holocaust of ecstasy and freedom." *Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn.*
The old ones sent their engineer as a warning to the evil men who use the knowledge imparted on them by the old ones to commit evil acts and demand to be worshiped as gods, you are not gods, THIS land does not belong to you, those who show no mercy will be treated mercilessly, and those who destroy this land that is not theirs, shall destroyed. Holy hell shall rain down upon them and rise from the seas. No escape for the wicked. #annunaki #bluebloods #copperconductor

*THE CALL*
'Coming Soon'
That intro monologue w the music in the background is just... Incredible
You guys are everything missing from my 80's childhood... From anime, to movies, to synthwave. Growing up would have been way better with your music, and videos.
You all just keep making my heart love you more and more.
YES. This is amazing. The Old Ones are being praised 🙌
Before even hearing it fully you gotta like and add it to your playlist. That's how you know it's GUNSHIP!
We need more agressively voiced Lovecraft quotes with bomb music. Thank you for this, it literally feels amazing to listen to
Jesus Christ, that intro monologue alone makes me want to replay Bloodborne and its DLC again ! Thank you so much for this, Gunship ! Another great fucking song ! It's literally such a surprise to have this song coming out of nowhere. I love Lovecraftian Horror so much, so to experience one of my favorite synthwave band mixed with one of my favorite horror genre was like a dream come true i never knew i had before
Lol I was playing Bloodborne an hour ago, such a fantastic game.

this needs to be in Cyberpunk 2077. It has to be.
i came to the comments with the same idea. glad i saw yours first. i will actually, genuinely be shocked (and honestly, pretty sad) if this isn't in the game's soundtrack somewhere.
I literally got shooked when I read this comment. That would be so cool
That game is PERFECT for so many of their songs
Cyberpunk 2077 better have alot, and i mean ALOT of Synthwave involved.
Honestly when im listening to this tune, i think of how badass it can be if Mass Effect Andromeda was done correctly.
It would play during one of the hidden endings where Cthulhu rises up from his slumber after centuries of slumber, and destroys the world. The whole time, the relevance of the year 2077 wasn't just for a dystopian cyberpunk future, but of foretelling his eventual reawakening.
Man, that is a miskatonic-worthy opening monologue. Never thought I'd get to see dark synth Lovecraft, never knew I was missing this all along!
