Elon Musk Finally Revealed Why Starship Flight 4 Exploded...
We eagerly anticipate the next Starship flights, with the ultimate goal being the first landing using the Mechazilla Arm. However, SpaceX will face several challenges before achieving this milestone. When we look at previous flights, the engine has been the most prominent issue.
In today's episode, we'll focus on the engine, a system recently detailed by Elon Musk. We'll explore why the engines failed on previous flights and how they plan to improve them to make history.
Elon Musk Finally Revealed Why Starship Flight 4 Exploded...
Ah, before diving into today's topic, I want to remind you that today is a special day-Elon Musk's birthday! Please like and share this video, and send your best wishes to him in the comments section.
Now, let’s get back to our episode. We've experienced four Starship flights, each representing significant progress. The engines have seen substantial improvements, contributing greatly to Starship's recent successes.
Elon Musk Finally Revealed Why Starship Flight 4 Exploded...
However, engine problems still persist. During Flight 2, the engines failed sequentially after the two stages separated, causing B9 to explode mid-air. In Flight 3, when B10 nearly reached its destination, the landing engines failed, leading to a Booster explosion. On the last flight, one engine failed after lift-off, and another during landing. Fortunately, the landing process still went smoothly, marking the first time Starship stages successfully landed.

Clickbait neither the booster nor starship exploded during flight 4
Starship test flight 4 did not explode.
Why does the headline use the word exploded? I don't like clickbait.
Unsubscribed.
Well, one of the engines exploded during the landing burn, so...
MrAlbert, Well, as you said - engine, not entire flight 4 as sugested in title.
Same unsub and click “not interested” not recommend
@@pavnazwisko9196 But, it doesn't say that. Plus, the graphic shows the booster with an engine exploding as seen from the bouy cam, and a cutaway of the engine...
Don't be so angry. These guys have to maximize views. If you're a fan of space flight, you'll watch it anyway, they're just trying to grab a few extra people. It's not like the video went on to claim the entire rocket exploded and was lost. Plus, for what it's worth, the IFT system was likely used to break up the two sections on the surface to actually sink them and not have them floating around on the surface until something hits them.
The engine that exploded was on the booster, not starship.
It is a click bait headline. I am unsubscribing.
Should read: "Elon Musk Finally Revealed Why 1 Engine Exploded On Starship Flight 4"
Yeah, we have no "engine" in our title
@@colonbina1 so change it
@colonbina1 Except @GREAT SPACEX absolutely LOVES the click bait and *PURPOSEFULLY* MISLEADING THEIR VIEWERS APPARENTLY. (Especially having read your comment, replying to it and NOT fixing the title.) @CZcams should look into how many times they mislead their viewers with their titles.

ift4 (S29 B11) never exploded wtf
Stop the clickbait!
So sorry about that. That is our mistake, and we will fix it soon
Happy birthday, Elon! 🎂
Hopefully, he will continue make new glories for aerospace industry
What 'explosion'? Resorting to clickbait headlines now???
Why title this "Why Starship Flight 4 Exploded"! It did not explode! You even state that straight out in the video. It is this type of hype and outright lies in the title that piss me off! You think it attracts viewers, but I think it irritates those of us who really like your videos. Please, quit lying and/or making misleading statements in your titles!
stop the click bait !!!!!
So sorry about that 🙁
Flight 4 did not explode! lol This channel makes so many stupid mistakes. Almost every video has at least one, its like they dont even care or proof read the scripts before they give them to the guy they pay to read it.
Another of many reasons I admire Elon for is his openness about his company's failures. He's right out there talking about it and explaining in detail what went wrong. No threats of worker reprisal, just "we learn from our mistakes and get better." He may be a tough taskmaster, but like the old Yogi meme, "it ain't braggin' if you can do it."
“Great Clickbait” 1- subscriber
when did starship flight 4 explode show me ????????? I watched the entire flight both superheavy booster landed softly in the ocean, starship landed safely in the ocean, so why are you doing this CLICKBAIT VIDEO !!!!!!!
Sorry about that mistake, we will fix this soon
Happy Birthday and God Bless you Elon!
Have a wonderful day
Stupid clickbait headline. Flight 4 was the most successful so far with both parts splashing down.
That is our mistake. Sorry about that 😔
@@colonbina1 you’re not sorry about it because you keep doing it
@@robertmalis4493 needed saying
Unsubscribed... too much clickbait. There are better (more professional) options.
same
@@mrsandro201 Same here, the video claims that buster 4 exploded, has even included a fake explosion at 1:18... I report it!
Flight 4 did not explode 1 engine failed
When pieces go flying away, that's not a simple failure. Weren't you watching, it was quite evident.
@@johnruckman2320 w
The fact that the channel is liking the negative comments should tell you everything you need to know
wait...what part of IFT4 exploded? both vehicles landed in the ocean....
Engine still failed, but we truly make mistake with the title today, sorry about this ☺️. Keep following and discussing on our channel ♥️
So change the title?
And that’s how you lose subscribers… clickbait!
Happy B'day Elon
❤Happiest of Birthdays yet🎉😂❣️
♥️♥️♥️
Great👍
Happy Birthday Elon.
Happy birthday Elon!!🎉
☺️☺️☺️
Happy Birthday Elon. You are Humanity's savior, keep up your pace we need you!
Great comment
Apparently some people weren't paying attention to the video when pieces suddenly flew off from the rocket section.
That's not a simple failure. Fortunately is didn't blow towards the other rockets.
Wouldn't a heater solve the icing problem?
Err, well for 1, nothing catastrophically exploded on F4, contradicting the title's clickbait..
And for 2, the autogenous pressure system is fed by waste gas - burn CH4 and O2 and you'll get water. Just enough water vapour to freeze within the Starship's fuel tanks at their operating temp. The waste gas needs to be dried. An expensive gamble but hey, SpaceX are doing it the down-and-dirty way, so Kudos to them. Now every Man and his Gǒu (Chinese for 'dog') will be drying their recycled gasses thanks to SpaceX's learning curve that we paid for.
Happy Birthday, You genius You ! 😊 ❤
I thought I saw video footage of IFT-4's booster landing in the Gulf and Starship landing in the Indian Ocean.
Happy birthday Elon.
You are a star.
😂😂😂
What is with this title?? + Click bait..?? Come on man.. Really. Be better.
This is our mistake. We will take note and work better in the future
Happy Birthday Elon. I love what you are doing with Falcon and Starship. Can't wait to see what comes next!
Great wish
Could a vacuum be pulled on system to remove moisture
Happy Birthday Elon🎉🎉🎉
♥️♥️♥️
Happy birthday Elon from NZ cheers 🍻
🎂🎂🎂
Seriously, the click bait is disgusting. I'm done. Unsubing
SAME!
The Starship and Superheavy of flight 4 did not explode.
Happy birthday to Mr Elon Musk 🎉
♥️♥️♥️
Happy Birthday Elon!!!!
Happy bday elon musk
And he’s making videos FAST!
why don't they change the title of the video to another, to avoid the click bait?
At 6:34 you said 350 bar is ISP, actually 350 bar is chamber pressure, not ISP. ISP is an indirect measure of the rocket exhaust gas velocity
Yeah, thanks for your great contribution. That is our mistake
@@colonbina1Thanks for being honest about it. :-)
It will be a huge 3-D strainer with baffles to direct the gas/slush/ice in to turbo pumps while “slicing” it up into pure gas…..I’m speculating
IFT - 3 (Not 4) is when the upper ship and booster blew up. Kindly fix wrong title.
Yeah
@@colonbina1 DON'T just say yeah.. FIX THE SHIT!!!!
Go! Happy Birthday, Elon!
🎂🎂🎂
Engines are great but how do you perfectly cook a hotdog with them?
Congratulations!
♥️♥️♥️
You can edit titles ….
Yeah. We will take note this and improve in the future
Flight 4? It didn`t explode, it landed
This is our mistake in the title
Thumbs down and do not recommend this channel. I watched flight 4 live, no explosion.
So sorry about that. I mean previous flights and flight 4 engine☺️
Thunderbirds are Go 🚀
(I couldn't resist)
GO!🎉
When exactly did Starship Flight 4 explode?! Do we have images of it?
What explosion? Both stages did what they were supposed to.
I hate when the titles to videos are so misleading like this. Flight 4 did not explode!
There are recent photos (in the last 10 days) of a downcomer which has an orange strainer at the end - I believe this may be one of the 'ice strainers' referred to in this video and by musk.
Happy Birthday Elon Musk!
All of the changes are just improvements on what they already know works to increase capability and reliability, my bigger concern and interest is the catch. Catching the beast is like a cowboy roping an elephant and is something that has never been done by anyone before unless you count Navy aircraft carriers and that is a different animal altogether.
♥️♥️♥️
Exploded🤨 it landed in the ocean
I mean engine fail, sorry about that mistake
@@colonbina1 it’s okay
Go! Thanks
🚀🚀🚀
Since they are using many small engines, they can carry spare engines???
Nothing exploded. Going to have check the "do not recommend channel".
IFT-4 booster did NOT explode.
We have extremely large areas of land that the military owns for bombing ranges. Why can't he just lease an area, build a catching tower and perfect the catching process in a remote area that will not affect Nasa operations in case something goes horribly wrong?
needs to be beside ocean to ditch in case of failure - coming over land puts the ship/booster at least some populated and/or active roadways.
Happy Birthday ❤
♥️♥️♥️
Go!!
🚀🚀🚀
Happy birthday and good luck
Yeah👍
Happy Birthday Elon 🎉🎉
Great wish♥️
Happy Birthday Elon
Hopefully, he and his team will continue make glories for our country
Happy birthday!

BOEING Starliner is a Lemon 🍋.
Why do you mean?
@@colonbina1 Lemon laws are for a car that’s Brand New and constantly and constantly breaks down repeatedly and spends more time at the dealership Garage getting REPAIRS versus getting the car on the road without any issues or problems.
Happy happy 🎉b day!! Elon from S.A
Great wish👍
Happy Birthday Elon, many happy returns !
Yeah
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ELON MUSK!! HOPE SO SPACEX WILL MAKE HUMANITY AN INTERPLANETARY SPECIES
I assume Great SpaceX is to explode!
6:29 specific impulse is measured in seconds, not in bars lol 😂
I noted this, thanks
Happy birthday Elon 🎉
🎂🎂🎂
Happy tau day!!!
Happy birthday everybody
It's an absolutely horrible video with fake claims and video for clicks... Unsubscribed!
Happy birthday Elon
♥️♥️♥️
The number of engines on super heavy determines what the base plate underneath super heavy the water deluge system has to deal with. With three different numbers of engines on the super heavy we need a new system. An advanced system where chopsticks pick up the plate set it aside and put it a new one if they need to change. Or eventually the tower they built becomes obsolete.
Great analysis 👍
Happy Birthday 🎂
Wow wow♥️
Flight 4 was the ONLY ONE witch didn’t explode 😂
GO !
👍👍👍
Go!
🚀🚀🚀
Happy birthday Elon 🎂may you have many more . SKK .
Yeah yeah
Happy Birthday Mr Musk
♥️♥️♥️
Cambios
Hey narrator, could we hear it from Musk?
Puts BE4 to shame!
🤣🤣🤣
Worry about the catching process! If the Booster falls 1 inch onto the catch arms it will rip the arms strait off!!! Don't believe me? What is the dry weight of a booster? What does 1 inch of gravity acceleration add to the dry weight? Very Grimm! 🤢
As long as you've run this channel, you should know the difference between chamber pressure and ISP. You're losing your audience. 😢
I will try to make this better, thanks
Hbd Elon🎉
♥️♥️♥️
Happy birthday, Errol Musk
