    The message here from Ben is: Slow down! Take the time to troubleshoot the issue so you fix it just once! And ya wont be throwing the parts cannon at the problem. Great vid!

      had a dryer that we thought was bad, got a new one and it didnt work. Had 240V at the outlet but still didnt work. Called the contractor back out, didn't work, they got us another new one, still didnt work. At that point we knew it was not the dryer nor the old one.
      COme to find out the outlet was reading 240V but it would not pass current. That wire was bad, so we had to replace that 240V line from the outlet back to the breaker, THEN the new one started to work AND the old one started to work again.
      SO reading 240V at 16:32 at the video means nothing

    Great info. Maybe you can take it a step further and show us how where to find the correct numbers, so when we test a sensor we know what “normal/working” looks like?

    • @bensappliancesandjunk
      @bensappliancesandjunk  Před rokem +6

      That will vary between every single sensor by model which is why. I have the videos that show you generally how to repair and test things for the proper homewriting.This was just meant to be a guide in general, but maybe at some point. I can do another follow up video. That would just have me testing all kinds of different things for ohm ratings.

    • @bensappliancesandjunk
      @bensappliancesandjunk  Před 10 měsíci

      I'd check for visual matches to broiler. Many times the botique companies are contracting the same places Whirlpool and Frigidaire do. I know for example, Viking gas ignitors that are $250 are basically an IG9998 which retails thru us for $30.

    Nooooo, don’t ruin good parts to demonstrate a bad circuit. Electrical troubleshooting requires way more info than you could put in one video. Just finding the correct value resistance for a component could fill an entire video. However, great demonstration of why shotgunning parts is a waste of time and cash. Maybe show electrical troubleshooting and repair on a broken unit from start to finish. It would probably require a lot of editing to compress the video time, but better demonstrate your methods and train of thought.

    Voltage means NOTHING ....
    You can have voltage but no current flow. Current flow is what matters.
