right, somebody too dumb to use debris to keep her butt and feet off of the ice while fishing thru it, and also didn't realize that she should take the 10x10 tarp and sleeping bag out there with her. Both gals lost more calories than they gained by their silly sitting there beside one hole. If they'd known to cut their 24 big single hooks in half, reshape the ends, and make 16 treblehooks, they could have made primitive tip up devices and had a dozen trotlines, using fishguts and parts of their heads as bait. Put the bait in little bags made of reflective tarp and tape, so minnows cant nibble away the bait and so only the tips of the hooks show. The little hole in the bait bag will leak out the scent/smell of the bait, keeping minnows around and that will draw the bigger fish. The flash of the reflective tarp and smell of bait will get the bigger fish to gulp the bait bag.

Bill Randall and the room could be really small that you are in and it wouldn’t make any difference because it’s just air, unless it’s air tight you will freeze
only 250 ft of paracord is allowed. A 2 person rope hammock has 1500 ft of cordage, and it's been taken before. Justin didn't know what to do with it, tho. The rope can be further unraveled, too, and used to make 500 sq ft of netting.
@little drane yeah I'm sure the extra cord is what gave him the edge lol, no way he could've stalked and killed that muskox without it, I bet the extra cord helped him fell all that wood too LOL
i'm sure this was before they were sent there because they measure the full length of cordage, which is funny because for such a wild egomaniac he still tried to have that little edge :D. Silly
@@dariusus9870pretty sure you're the only one here with the ego. You think someone like Roland would risk losing his place by trying to 'sneak' cordage through when a man like that surely knows 100 ways to make cordage in nature? Very immature comment.
He dominated this season. From the best shelter, the meat freezer and the pile of firewood he gathered I just knew he had this won from episode 3 or 4.
@bali song it took me 3 days to make a 25 foot net. U have to catch a couple dozen fish 1st to make ur gauge size correct. To know what fish are in the immediate area and if there in spawn or half dead. Ur a wannabe.
Remember when winning 1 cool mil on a tv show meant spending one single night sitting in a cheerful room answering some questions while the audience help you out? Man how lives have gone backwards
@bali song it was a joke, I was comparing the show to Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. The contestants get 'life lines' they can use to help with a question they're not sure of the answer to. One of the life lines is to call a friend for advice.
All the best from Moose Jaw in Saskatchewan. You where my man right from the beginning. Congratulations you r a good and strong man. And also our condolences from my family and me over the loos from ur Mom. Now stay healthy with your family bye bye.👍

bali song well for not knowing much and having a crapshoot list he is doing pretty good lol, CZcams experts are all the same, lots of talk and no real knowledge.
Bill Randall well first of all I’ve cut more watering holes in foot thick ice with an axe then I can count and it doesn’t take long, now again you always talking about making an igloo with 2” of fresh snow proves you don’t have a clue, besides the fact you are talking about dragging all that junk out onto the ice shows you’re clueless and wouldn’t last long in the real cold.
1. Roland (s7) 2. Jordan (s6) 3. Callie Russell (s7) 4. Fowler (s3) 5. Alan (s1) 6. Callie North (s3) 7. Jose (s2) Honorables: Carleigh, Woniya, Sam, Dave, Britt, David, Lucas
Thanks for mentioning Jose, he is so underrated. The guy would have probably won S2 without his unfortunate turn of event. I would definitely put Carleigh above Fowler though, as the only thing that made him win over her was his extra pounds. She was a more skilled bushcraft wise, and despite not catching many fishes.
Hope you win Roland - if anyone can I think you will be the last one standing. Heck you are so talented you could probably make it til spring - but 100 days will suffice. Watch your step - don't get injured.
Love the show!! I would love to see a " Behind the scenes" Of what the crew does while the show is being filmed!!!! This would add another aspect to the show!!!!!!
@@johnoutside84 somebody has to cook for 10 people. It'd be a full time job keeping them in firewood, too. There needs to be several people editing video all of the time, so they can erase the video cards and recycle them out to the contestants again.
@@waynenewsome4780haha no way. They aren't cutting any footage until all the contestants tap out. The only live feed would be the perimeter cameras, if any. There's a 4 or 5 man crew at most just like fire fighters , who stay 24 hours then rotate out in a cozy military style camp with heat lamps. Chopper is flown in as needed. I don't think it would be that interesting.
I might've taken a hand drill instead of the multitool and a spool of rope to make several nets instead of one. Hand drill is so useful for crafting and joining wood, making hinges etc. And net fishing is a numbers game like trapping. You can't set just couple of traps and expect to be good, you need hundreds. Similarly one net might have you struggling at times. Set 3-6 and you're good. And the extra rope has plenty of other uses as well.
"Im gonna make a cabin" I hope he does. if you can get a steady supply of food to keep you going, building a cabin not only gives you shelter, but gives you something to do! how many contestants went home because of boredom? building a cabin might be a nice way to pass the time, if you are doing it at a healthy pace with enough to eat.
Dan you are spot on. You’ll be the most comfortable skeleton in the North. The time and effort making a cabin will see you starving before you get the roof on.
wernesgruder1 lol he has the roof on rock house already and he is building a stone chimney as well, he is from Alaska so he knows that without a warm place to live food won’t matter.
@@henryhenry3832 That's true, but there are simpler and easier to build structures that can be warm too. It seems like he's gambling a little on getting something big hunting? If he does then everything will pay off. And he does have a lot of hunting experience so it's not crazy to hope. But he can't control his location or leave and there's always some luck with hunting. If he doesn't get something big that's a heck of a lot of fish and bunnies he'll need to make up for how many calories he burned building that bunker.
junbh2 absolutely right, he could have done something a lot easier and been warm but I think he was worried about fire because he is talking about doing a stone chimney, but you are right if he doesn’t get something big and fat he is in big trouble
Interesting. Because I found myself thinking he seemed to have a poor attitude, very intent on what other people thought of him and on looking 'tough' and not enough flexibility or zen to accept whatever happens or to accept the certainty that at some point he will fail at something on camera. But I'm basing that off a few minutes of heavily edited video, of someone who knows he's on TV and can't help being self conscious, so obviously that's not much to go on!
They should do an Alone season with non professionals just regular people with no experience. Put them in a warmer climate, not as harsh. It would be really cool too see
10 items! That’s more like 150 items. He has paracord on the knife sheath, the snare wire is wrapped on spindles and the sleeping bag is …inside another bag! Heard he did a great job though.
1. Sleeping bag ( easily most important) 2. Fire starter ( even if you can start a fire without one it saves calories) 3. Saw (once again saves calories while cutting firewood) 4. Axe ( can get through ice for ice fishing and for cutting trees) 5. Multitool ( skinning and gutting while being able to cut trape wire and fishing line and making a lure) 6. Deep Frying pan ( use fat as oil and can always be used as a pot for boiling) 7. Bow and arrow ( for hunting any land animal) 8. Gill net (great to have out at all time) 9. Fishing line & hooks (most efficient while binning minimal calories) 10. Trapping wire ( also great to have at all times)
°Set base with the wind heading towards the ocean so food in your base doesn't attract animals. °make a low base with great roof insulation. ° create a fire stove with a top so you don't set your camp a light. ° Set yourself into the mindset that you've moved out to the wild.
@Marion Hamer weak, ignorant and a punk okay buddy let's talk about that everyone that has entered alone has taken a sleeping bag. Why? Because instead of making one you could be hunting. Is my list the best way no but would it work and be efficient yes.
Roland knows what to expect in Alaska during the winter. Nobody else has built a sturdy shelter like him. Goes to show the different between someone who lives in the territory and someone who doesn't. The rest are in for a shock when it starts to snow. I hope Roland stays safe and wins. 2nd I want the Canadian girl to win, she'll gets to keep 100% of the million no taxes.
He wasted a ton of energy hauling massive stones and particularly logs that size though. I really wonder if the benefits of such massive logs will pay off over the disadvantages in the end - yeah, they're strong and maybe will provide some insulation, but so many calories lost, a risk of injury, they will be difficult to make fit so will still end up needing a lot of patching to make wind proof... Plus he could have had so much firewood out of those trees! I love the rock idea though. If it works it will be a pretty snug shelter. But not sure whether his choices will pay off in the end. I worry he may be the type who can't pace himself or who always goes for the biggest most spectacular thing and ends up crashing. I guess we'll see.
@@junbh2 Roland admitted that you must gamble and take risks if you're going to have a chance. He was saying that from day 1. He used his strengths and took advantage of some lucky breaks to win. The girls definitely pushed him though and did well with different methods.

Bill Randall and the room could be really small that you are in and it wouldn’t make any difference because it’s just air, unless it’s air tight you will freeze
I like how he said “you’re not gonna get a big game kill without a bow” and then ended up killing a musk ox with his knife. Golden
#11...the thousand feet of cordage that everything was wrapped in. Awesome set up!!!
only 250 ft of paracord is allowed. A 2 person rope hammock has 1500 ft of cordage, and it's been taken before. Justin didn't know what to do with it, tho. The rope can be further unraveled, too, and used to make 500 sq ft of netting.
My moneys on this dude. When he was like "I aint wasting this squirrel blood" I was like this guys got it.
Licking it off raw was pointless and gross.
Bill Randall exactly he is stupid.
Called it
I like how he added cordage to his bow, his axe, his sheath etc.
Why add cordage as an extra item when you can add it to other items.
@little drane yeah I'm sure the extra cord is what gave him the edge lol, no way he could've stalked and killed that muskox without it, I bet the extra cord helped him fell all that wood too LOL
They actually count all the accessory cordage. It’s on their item list page.
i'm sure this was before they were sent there because they measure the full length of cordage, which is funny because for such a wild egomaniac he still tried to have that little edge :D. Silly
@@dariusus9870pretty sure you're the only one here with the ego. You think someone like Roland would risk losing his place by trying to 'sneak' cordage through when a man like that surely knows 100 ways to make cordage in nature? Very immature comment.
You have no clue what you're talking about.
Total legend
Roland was a savage, lol. I wonder who Roland picks to win this season of Alone?
He had his money on Clay and got it right.
Roland = GOAT, love how he knew exactly what to do how to win, he could have lived out there for years 😅😅😅
Roland was a straight up ringer. By episode 2 it was obvious he was winning unless he got hurt
He can live there for 1000days... he s my hero here in the Philippines. Great guy. A powerful intelligent hunter.
He dominated this season. From the best shelter, the meat freezer and the pile of firewood he gathered I just knew he had this won from episode 3 or 4.
Of all of the season winners Roland was beyond question the baddest by far
@bali song it took me 3 days to make a 25 foot net. U have to catch a couple dozen fish 1st to make ur gauge size correct. To know what fish are in the immediate area and if there in spawn or half dead. Ur a wannabe.
Remember when winning 1 cool mil on a tv show meant spending one single night sitting in a cheerful room answering some questions while the audience help you out? Man how lives have gone backwards
🤣🤣 They should give them one call on the sat phone to phone a friend for advice.
@bali song it was a joke, I was comparing the show to Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. The contestants get 'life lines' they can use to help with a question they're not sure of the answer to. One of the life lines is to call a friend for advice.
why don't they sell the seasons on DVD? Definitely would buy for the extras
Extras are on iTunes when u buy the season
@@joejohnston1776 Purchased through Amazon, don't have Itunes
dvds?? it isn't 2005
@@surfingtothestars true! I'll take bluray as well :)
This is how they extort us to pay for cable.
Attitude.
Best attitude I've seen for this.
Winning.
All the best from Moose Jaw in Saskatchewan.
You where my man right from the beginning. Congratulations you r a good and strong man. And also our condolences from my family and me over the loos from ur Mom. Now stay healthy with your family bye bye.👍
The way this guy calls his equipment by name “I like ol’ axe” etc. is some 4D chess this guy was playing the whole time....
He named everything; rocks, trees, hills, his house. It's got to be good for morale when you make the place your own.
"This here is Calendar Tree" was my favorite
This guy was solid ..
This is one of the best item lists that I've seen for the show. Honestly, it's very similar to what I would carry if I were to participate in this challenge.
bali song well for not knowing much and having a crapshoot list he is doing pretty good lol, CZcams experts are all the same, lots of talk and no real knowledge.
Axe seems unnecessary, a mechete is a much more versatile alternative.
Joe i can tell you have never tried to cut a hole in 2ft thick ice before.
Bill Randall and not to mention the fact that NWT fishing rules are barbless hooks only lol
"Fire stick" Shawn, should've never been allowed to participate, he was straight out of Jr. High School!
1. Roland (s7)
2. Jordan (s6)
3. Callie Russell (s7)
4. Fowler (s3)
5. Alan (s1)
6. Callie North (s3)
7. Jose (s2)
Honorables: Carleigh, Woniya, Sam, Dave, Britt, David, Lucas
Thanks for mentioning Jose, he is so underrated. The guy would have probably won S2 without his unfortunate turn of event. I would definitely put Carleigh above Fowler though, as the only thing that made him win over her was his extra pounds. She was a more skilled bushcraft wise, and despite not catching many fishes.
I just noticed he was very clever. Didn't take paracord but he had cord wrapped around axe, bow, quiver and saw. Smart move.
This guy is the best!
"we might starve, but we aint gonna be cold" knew he would win from that lmao
I'm thinking he might win it; if he doesn't injure himself.
100% agree
No one might win
He won
Crazy guy
Roland is a man’s man. Guy is impressive
I bet this guy wins. He knows as much as I do.
He's not cocky and arrogant tho.....like you. You are overconfident....he is just confident. Big difference......
Hope you win Roland - if anyone can I think you will be the last one standing. Heck you are so talented you could probably make it til spring - but 100 days will suffice. Watch your step - don't get injured.
This should seal the deal. How right you were. Congrats
Love the show!! I would love to see a " Behind the scenes" Of what the crew does while the show is being filmed!!!! This would add another aspect to the show!!!!!!
Sit around drinking coffee. Monitoring a sat phone and maybe a couple radios.
@@johnoutside84 somebody has to cook for 10 people. It'd be a full time job keeping them in firewood, too. There needs to be several people editing video all of the time, so they can erase the video cards and recycle them out to the contestants again.
if you'll watch Brook's vid about after she tapped out, you'll see that they had TEN big yurts in Mongolia. I bet that aint just for 5 people.
I don't think it would be that interesting.
it will be interesting to see what he has in mind for that giant axe sheath
I need 10 items just to be able to sleep in my own bed at my own house 😂😂...this dude is a beast
Any more info on the knife and bow?
I can tell you the knife if you can tell me where to get the wool hoodie he has :)
You knew he was going to win because he said at the beginning he has a guaranteed win lol
Boker should sponsor him or at least make a special edition for him
I might've taken a hand drill instead of the multitool and a spool of rope to make several nets instead of one.
Hand drill is not on the list of available items. You can't just choose whatever you want, it has to be on the list.
finally my pick wins the show!
Same
Love the saw... means more since our talk . Priceless
congrats Roland
I think ultimately the love of a God fearing Momma brought this man through ... I hope you serve him today.
Congratulations 🍾 Roland 🙌🏽
"Im gonna make a cabin" I hope he does. if you can get a steady supply of food to keep you going, building a cabin not only gives you shelter, but gives you something to do! how many contestants went home because of boredom? building a cabin might be a nice way to pass the time, if you are doing it at a healthy pace with enough to eat.
Exactly what I was thinking. Keeping your self busy goes a long way. And if your comfy you will last longer.
That crosscut saw is pretty cool
I like his attitude, I hope he did well
Interesting.
@@junbh2 I think you see his confidence as rigidness. he clearly did not come for anything put proving skill and 1 mill
junbh2 now that the show is almost over im curious to hear your thoughts about Roland now, because he met my expectations of how he came across.
“You ain’t gonna get a big game kill without your bow”….little did he know!
This guy is a stephen king character.
Absolute unit! Respect!
Roland was a beast.
This guy rocks !!!!!!!
They should do an Alone season with non professionals just regular people with no experience. Put them in a warmer climate, not as harsh. It would be really cool too see
Just watching this what a legend
10 items! That’s more like 150 items. He has paracord on the knife sheath, the snare wire is wrapped on spindles and the sleeping bag is …inside another bag! Heard he did a great job though.
Can't wait to watch the new series!
Paladin Smith how are you liking it so far?
Where can i watch thsi
1. Sleeping bag ( easily most important)
2. Fire starter ( even if you can start a fire without one it saves calories)
3. Saw (once again saves calories while cutting firewood)
4. Axe ( can get through ice for ice fishing and for cutting trees)
5. Multitool ( skinning and gutting while being able to cut trape wire and fishing line and making a lure)
6. Deep Frying pan ( use fat as oil and can always be used as a pot for boiling)
7. Bow and arrow ( for hunting any land animal)
8. Gill net (great to have out at all time)
9. Fishing line & hooks (most efficient while binning minimal calories)
Tritton Slayer wind direction changes often here in Canada lol
Deep Frying pan instead of pot... especially if you get one with a lid. Thats actually an interesting choice
@reesej123 Russell 30 to 40 below 0 and your saying you don't need a proper sleeping bag your crazy
We do pay taxes in Canada on foreign income. There are treaties to prevent double taxation but you will end up paying taxes somewhere anyway.
junbh2 very true, we don’t pay taxes on lottery winnings but this is a tv show so it would be classified as income and not a lottery winning.
@@junbh2 Roland admitted that you must gamble and take risks if you're going to have a chance. He was saying that from day 1. He used his strengths and took advantage of some lucky breaks to win. The girls definitely pushed him though and did well with different methods.
