I’m turning 47 in July. I remember when Rhythm Nation came out when I was in junior high, song of was a huge hit. I think Control and Pleasure Principle are my favs.

I turn 47 in July, too! (7/11). Happy early birthday! The RN tour is the only show I didn't attend. I didn't see the Unbreakable show either, but I had tickets to it. (it eventually morphed into the state of the world tour, which was excellent).
Rhythm Nation tour was one of my first concerts when I was a kid in LA at the Forum. Was an amazing show, I'll never forget...thanks for the memories again! 🙏🏼👻

u know what i like to make a HUGE ASS concert of poplar singers in 80s in one show & stage ..i would first one to buy a ticket ahhh would takes me back to highschool ... different singers included rock & ATL/pop & rap & R&b all from 80s HELL YAAA🤘✌

The music video for "If I was your girl" had me feeling things a boy my age wasn't used to.
I think I kinda see what you mean about the vibe being a little off and not living up to the hype you thought it was gonna be. The crowd looked like they weren't as into it as I thought they would be. In my head I was picturing everyone there would be in ultimate party mode bouncing up and down with excitement like you'd see in a Janet Jackson music video of her performing in Concert. But instead everyone just kinda looked relaxed and chill like they were watching a movie or something. But who knows maybe it's because most of us who like Janet are getting older now and can't move around like we used to lol. But yeah I was definately thinking the same thing watching this while you were saying it.
I wonder if the music was so low because her voice is so soft/low, they couldn't turn her mic up enough or it would feedback. So they had to compensate by turning the music part down. ??
Saw her on the Rhythm Nation tour in Oakland & recall it being great, but I can't STAND lipsyncing and correct me if I'm wrong, but I think she was relying on background tracks @ the Bowl.

I noticed there were differences to the staging and also the sound system for the Hollywood bowl performance, I’m guessing due to the size and technical set up of that particular venue - she had two fewer vertical screens above that featured in the other shows, was missing a huge lighting rig, the back light set up was different and had two less vertical tower speakers (prob why the sound was off there)! However, you did get a firework show which the others never had so that’s pretty awesome and the Hollywood bowl is obviously a historic outdoor venue so even with the smaller set up I reckon it’d be worth it to see shows there regardless!
What looked weird to me was bringing the band out on the last set.
First part appeared to be lip-syncing, not sure if it came across live. Great coverage
Saw ms Jackson a few years back at her Vegas residency. Her energy was so low, about 80% lip syncing. Was a total let down
Doesn't sound like much of her singing is live. AlOT of help with backing tracks and studio effects.
its not live, shes lip synching. you can tell the songs they "played" are exactly how they sounded on her old albums. no way a live performance will sound like studio quality mastering from the albums. waste of money IMO. Janet needs to just retire and stop trying to be relevant and become popular again, especially with Madonna and her drama.

Her act looked a bit lost under the dome. I'm always a bit suspicious of those do-a-complex-dance-routine-while-singing-just-like-in-the-record performers. I suspect a lot of her vocals may have been backing track. And letting the audience sing a song is just lazy. I agree, if you paid to see her sing the song, she should sing it. I get that older singers will sometimes let the crowd do a high note, or a shout to help preserve their voice. That's ok. But letting an audience sing the majority of a song while you catch your breath and rest on stage is a bit much .... I'm off to see Sparks in Berlin on Sunday ! Support is "Mr B The Gentleman Rhymer". Check his rap "Straight out of Surry"

Too bad she doesn't dance like she used to...I know she almost 60 and that would be asking a lot...but she was always more a video music star and known for her dance routines...not so much her singing....let's face it she was never a Whitney Houston type!

yeah I thought the same. you can tell those are just her old songs being piped thru the PA system while she fakes singing it. no way in hell she gonna sound exactly like she did in the 80s. I definitely wouldnt have paid to listen to the crowd sing for her. she needs to just retire and call it a day. she will never be her old self
