- Though there is much debate from fans over whether #ghostbustersfrozenempire is any good, there is no debate that based on ticket sales and properly adjusted #boxoffice #frozenempire had the worst opening weekend in franchise history...even lower than the truly abysmal #ghostbusters2016 ...also #dunepart2 #duneparttwo despite what some may be claiming has also not yet broken even though it seems to be on it's way to do it #boxofficebreakdown

Thoughts?
Nobody was interested in another film for this franchise.
@@soraceantclearly you are wrong
I think people are generally tired of endless remakes/sequels/reboots regardless of the IP. Hollywood is creatively bankrupt.
Everyone hated 2016 personally haven’t seen it still sold more tickets than afterlife and will sell more tickets than frozen empire and that movie actually lost money let that sink in .
It opened ok though I actually thought it would open to 40m . This looks like it will probably gross around the same as afterlife domestically . Globally the ghostbusters movie never do that well .
how can you compare john wick with ghostbusters. 😂
Even WORSE than the non-canon “reboot” with all the chicks?
We do not speak of the Girlbusters
nostalgia baiting films are getting "old"... pun intended.
Yeah and so are the Fans of the Movies that do that.
For me, it all ended with Afterlife. I was perfectly fine with not watching anymore Ghostbusters movies but Sony just couldn't help themselves.
The Frozen Empire trailer didn't impress me. It gave me the impression they woked it up.
What part?
It was like a Trailer for The Day After Tomorrow.
The Ghosts are going to Destroy Us with Environmentalism.
Ghostbusters is the embodiment of beating a dead horse.
In Afterlife, they even put the dead horse on screen.
Beating the dead horse's ghost.
I don't see movies on opening weekends anymore..
It's expensive and I have to know it's not woke in anyway before I hand over my $.
That’s your caveat you need to know it’s not woke 🤦♀️
Surprisingly it actually isn’t woke I thought it was tbh, thank god Jason was a writer on it as he would have influence on the guy directing it
Basically phoebe wants to be a ghost to be with her ghost mate I mean if I befriended a ghost I would want to be a ghost/ curious on what it would be like
@@haydengarinduchesne9269 if I'm dropping 100 to see a movie at show that will be on streaming in 90 days...yes, not being woke and preaching an agenda to me is a HUGE factor.
Phoebe is a Mary Sue looking for a Girlfriend.
I saw Cabrini last weekend. It is a truly great movie. Too bad it isn’t more successful.
Crazy that Luca did so bad. I mean, we all knew that it wasn't going to break record but barely half a $million for its first weekend.
I went and saw Ghostbusters Frozen Empire this weekend...and it was okay. There was some entertaining moments but it felt like it was juggling way too many characters for the story and there were some scenes that felt out of place and not connected to the story as a whole. Aside from that I at least enjoyed my time watching it
I'm Still confused as to why one of the Eternals was in this playing a Firebender from Avatar?. 🤔
When we finally convinced Bill Murray to come back to another Ghostbusters movie, they end up messing it up
I still haven't seen afterlife. So I'll probably not watch frozen empire. Not every movie needs a sequel. And after the second, this was already demonstrated, no need to try again. But Hollywood unfortunately can't do anything new so here we are
The only reason I acknowledged this movie was because one of my favorite Japanese groups, Atarashii Gakko, got a sweet PR deal to help with marketing on the movie, and it got them a lot of needed exposure here in the US and has helped to increase their stock in the Japanese market. The trailer just wasn't convincing. I like Paul Rudd usually, but having that dude from The Eternals, who I just call the Tide Commercial guy showed me that Sony just didn't care.
There are only two Ghostbusters movies.
GB seen to be bending knee to woke.
The Fanbase for Ghostbusters doesn't seem to be growing.
Let’s be honest, we all watched GB Afterlife for that one scene, that was it.
Oh no! I'm seeing it today so hopefully it is decent 😮
Not surprised and with Godzilla x Kong coming up next week (which will suck up a lot of the international box office). Its not looking well for Ghostbusters.
Dune is looking like it will finish in the 650-690 milion range. It's slown down a lot and I don't see it getting to 700 milion.
Love it or ‘meh’ it, Afterlife was a nice little tie up to end the franchise. Other than nostalgia there was no need to go further. Unfortunately, that’s all some people want. And like all Hollywood corporations, they had to push out another one. I may eventually watch FE, but I’m not going out my way to see it. Trailer just didn’t give me a “I got to see this, now” vibe.
This is the best, most informative BO breakdown around.
I just saw it and it was ok, there some 1st and 2nd act just drags on.
The media claimed that fans "loved Ghostbusters: Afterlife". I only know people who call it "not awful" and they certainly won't see "Frozen Empire". Put this franchise to rest.
Clown
Really surprised it was a 100M film. There weren't that many set pieces iirc. Where did the money go.
The CGI I suspect. There was a lot of it and some of it was actually good
@@OMBReviews Yea, it was definitely good. But man, did it have ROI? Honestly, they could have done without the opening chase scene, surely that was a ton of money. I don't think that scene really did much for the story. Could have done a cheaper "busting" opening. The original one in the library... iconic, simple, cheap.
If I had the wright to do a ghostbusters movie
We had a lot of time to think about this problem and if the original character would too interact with the new ones and finally have a different storyline no kids or momma would be involved so sorry kid but ghostbusters was never really made for kitty so I really think that would have been a good idea to have our beloved charters doing battle with the badass and on final battle there cross that final stream together only this time they are killed saving New York from a demise and having the same kind of ending with New York having funerals service talking about the history of the people started a small group hero who die protecting them sadly this would be a real proper send off and then on a bonus video that is we’re we learn that the new one will protect the world from the same fate of the the ghostbusters it would have heart but not the same way of failure I should write a letter to the director
I thank Dune 2 will end around 650 to 675
It could end around 700
I question KFP4's numbers. The budget is low, but they did a lot of marketing. Combine that with the layoffs after it released, and I question if its really a success as they claim.
I love Ghostbusters Afterlife. Is Frozen Empire simillar? It is worse??
Worse easily
Hollywood Reporter said Dune 2 breakeven was 500 million …definitely will turn a profit in theaters
Hollywood Reporter is garbage. Watch the video
@@OMBReviews Garbage, lol ok 👍🏾. I did watch the video …and I don’t see how it doesn’t turn a profit. Final numbers will tell the tale
I said it likely will in the video lol
I really hope that it doesn’t get the money out of this one because let be honest the only reason why afterlife made money was because ghostbusters fan were hungry 🤤 because of 2016 disastrous movie and if they fail to cover the loss our director would have to consider why
Ghost busters vs madame web is a fine comparison in my opinion. Ghost Busters should be easily outpacing madame web.
another childhood favorite ruined.....i mean. Did she really fall in love or was it a "friend". We know what ua did there with the wokeness. But a ghost dude.....really?
Nothing like selling "Alternative Lifestyles" to Kids in a So-called Family Movie.
It’s only first weekend though
And there is much we can gather from that. Watch. The. Video.
It's not going to have legs.
@@matane2465 I think it will, it was packed in my screen I’ve seen it twice already probably gonna see it again, there will be others like me who will see it countless times I think it’ll be another Wonka where it has a slow start then does better
@@matane2465 people said it wasn’t funny at all, I was literally laughing all way through 🤣 most people had chuckles too in my showing
I'm actually very surprised Dune 2 is doing so well ln the States. it's not a generic Marvel movie, a woke Disney remake, a BLM statement like the Women King or a Color Purple (no one saw those lectures overseas) or a Beyoncé/Swifties concert but hard old school SF for the grown ups so pleasantly surprised. Non theme park movies will always have to be make their money overseas (and viceversa (with some notable exceptions of course). Next week a new lizard slaps a monkey slaps the lizard back slaps the monkey back movie so well.... let's see what happens.
Oppenheimer did well in the states, so it's not hard to imagine Dune doing the same. People in the States like "cinema" more than they would let on.
I don't understand either. The first one was boring.
Palm Sunday I watch Cecil B DeMille Ten Commandments Absolute Masterpiece./There's only two Ghostbusters movies. Ghostbusters 2016 what a horrible nightmare afterlife and ice not even Ghostbusters movies.
I see owalt and/or nanjiani, I skip. Simple as that.
Let's be honest here - 45 million a great opening weekend for Ghostbusters.
Not really. Watch the video
It opened higher than afterlife. How is it the franchise worst
Watch. The. Video.
