Sarah McLachlan is a very deep , profound , and spiritual person in which I can relate to . She's a very talented artist with a great voice . This is a very meaningful and beautiful song . I really love her work .
This song reminds me so much of my younger years when i was recuperating in rehab for meth addiction. so many mistakes i have done that when i look back it makes me feel so stupid to waste 7 years of my life. it almost killed me in the process.everytime i hear this song it only showed that god is always there to help you no matter what you have become and done. I'm happy that I'm still here to hear this beautiful song.

So according to some music trivia I saw this song is actually about Heroin overdose
Errol Vogt From Wiki: "As McLachlan explained on VH1 Storytellers, the song is about the Smashing Pumpkins touring keyboard player Jonathan Melvoin, who overdosed on heroin and died in 1996."
This is the only song that I don't like when she sings it live. She makes it almost sound happy, instead of solemn.
