What a gem these guys were in their infancy. There was no style to even compare them to back then. They took off and left the competition so fast that most of the world missed out.
You know that they fell out as they wanted to put him on a wage an not get the big money and the night before the filming of sanctuary, Preston got arrested for stealing a car and couldn't get to the venue
Thank you for this. The most exciting band in 85, so glad someone was filming this tour. Great memories and I still have Astburys ring from a Cardiff concert!
Jus Tryna catch Every show on CZcams about "The Cult"!!! I was super surprised that I Do Not remember hearing them in Real Time... I used to be very tuned into the 70's music growing up from my sisters Era... One born in 1960 and the other 1962. Peter Frampton, Pink Floyd in late 1979. Then Montros, Sammy Hagar, Bad Co, Journey, Foreigner... I think that era was also my T.V. show watching era.. I saw my first Winter Olympics in 1988 with the "Battle of the Brian's" on ice !! That was killer! Last time I stopped watching T.V. Then I got into Whitesnake and the like metal head bands. I didn't listen to this type of music until 1991. And when I heard "FIRE WOMAN", I was hooked!! And IAN... Wow !! What a persona... One of a Kind dude who dupped another one of a kind dude "Jim Morrison". I went backwards in my musical journey... I listened to the 60's music in 1981.. The Doors, Iron Butterfly and whatever the elders had in their album collection. I loved the Doors! I stumbled upon an episode of an "Craig Kilborn" episode last year and saw Ian Do Jim... I was blown away!! I said, "Ahhh And he's become an impersonator"... I don't think he was acting or channeling as some might think. He's just a multifaceted talent. It's not an uncommon thing but he's particularly a Really appealing talent to me... 👍❤👍
Only finding this now. Wow! Thank you Joeri! I love The Snake...always wondered if he had performed it live. Quite an hypnotic track, I find myself drawn into it. 'The River' is another track that has that hypnotic feel to it...both tracks possessing a primitive, tribal feel.
Ero a quel concerto e ne conservo gelosamente alcune foto fatte quella sera.
Thanks for uploading this fantastic video, what an amazing gig. Treasures from the vault Joeri. I love a big meal ;-) but Big Neon Glitter suits better. Nice to hear the early versions. And what a surprise to hear The Snake, brilliant.
This is so fucking good. I can feel it! Even through this stupid cell phone. If I had a time machine I wouldn't go change the world . I would go to events like this and bask in the perfect resin of it. Amazing! Thank you!
XLNt show! With Nigel Preston, whose drumming is more like Dave Barbarossa of Bow Wow Wow, and the Adam and the Ants sound, tribal rhythms, you can hear it added a different feel to the music. He wasn't on the LOVE album, not sure what happened, but maybe they thought his playing wouldn't go with the more '60s influenced rock 'n' roll sound. Not much later, the Cult seemed to distance themselves from DREAMTIME and "Resurrection Joe", like maybe they were too post-punk and not "rock" enough.
I feel really sorry for him, such a talented drummer, the Cult was never the same without him. Compare Dreamtime and Love, the latter sounds lightweight in comparison
I don't know if it's the video tape or something else but the timing seems to be off on a few songs. I love the Cult but this show isn't their best by a long shot. Way too much delay on Ian's voice. Still a great classic show. Even the worst Cult show is fantastic 🤘🏻🤘🏻🎸🎸
@@francescoderosa2004 ...seen them in Wiesbaden with support band : Ex-sisters of mercy ..the Sisterhood (later must change name to the Mission after Eldritch from sisters recorded LP Sisterhood -The Gift during they are on tour and release it !) must be end 1985 or ' 86.
My brother came home from college on 84...handed me the Love album....life changer!!! Thank you Bro!!!!

@Let Your L⚡️GHT Forever Shine ❤️ .. I with you on Janes Addiction
Big Neon Glitter with Nigel on drums? The Snake live? Fuck yeah!
This is my favorite lineup for this band, and the best IMO. Drummer, guitar bass and lead, and of course Ian.
R.I.P. Nigel Preston, great drummer
Marcelo Clemente agreed.
these drums can raise people from the dead. fantastic.

He was a Heroin addict and got sacked, lived quite a tragic life after that, armed robbery , jail and Death at an early age.
I feel really sorry for him, such a talented drummer, the Cult was never the same without him. Compare Dreamtime and Love, the latter sounds lightweight in comparison
