I could not imagine a facility like this existing in a major US city like LA or NYC - people would vandalize and destroy it. Tokyo is probably one of the most densely populated cities I've visited and yet it's so orderly, clean and civilized.

@@genesisreyes5815 As someone who used to work for a Japanese company and has spent a not-insignificant amount of time in Japan, I highly advise you to do your due diligence and extensively research the realities of moving to and living in Japan. In my personal opinion, Japan is fantastic to visit, but can be very difficult to live in long-term as a foreigner. Some people make it work, for sure, but even many of those people find it necessary to "go home" a couple times a year to get a break from Japanese society. Similarly, those that go over to Japan to teach English as part of the JET program or similar frequently become disillusioned with Japan and move to another country after their term.
The unfortunate reality is that you will always be an "outsider" and will struggle to form meaningful relationships with anyone other than your fellow ex-pats. Without fluency in Japanese (including "keigo" or "formal language"), familiarity with Japanese business etiquette, and a marketable skillset, your employment opportunities will be extremely limited, and you are statistically most likely to end up as an English teacher making barely enough money to make ends meet.

According to a recent report by the World Health Organization, Japan is the 49th country in the world with the highest suicide rate relative to its population. But even though suicide rates are much higher in the US or South Korea, for example, nobody says, "Oh, America? Suicide rates are so high there." or "South Korea? Also, ekiben, or train lunch boxes, is a genius idea for cities that run 24/7. Want a bento, but no time to prep or you're a tourist that's always on the go? grab a box from the store AT THE PLATFORM, or while inside the train (at least in the bullet train, from what I experienced).

The subway station with up and down arrows so traffic can flow fast and efficient. Even how you they share umbrellas when it rains. @@OomegaLuL How do you describe "way ahead"? Most of these technologies are invented and created by US or European nations. Most of the science and tech knowledge was planted by European and American scientist. Most new advancements and technologies are envisioned and started by US inventors. The only difference is technology is slower to be implemented in the western countries for mass population use.

I could see these pods working anywhere there's a lot of people. Even in train stations and airports in a small country like Norway, there would be a lot of value in being able to book a private meeting room or being able to sit in peace for a video meeting with colleagues. Or even just to rest your head for half an hour while enjoying some quiet in an otherwise busy day.

I’ve only been to Tokyo twice but I love it. It’s a huge city but still feels approachable to a tourist because the people are so friendly and respectful of others and their surroundings. The train system looks overwhelming at first but actually makes a lot of logical sense, and if you can’t figure it out, you can ask just about anyone for help.
I’ve seen pods like this in several larger airports, mainly marketed towards people on business trips who need to make phone calls or remote meetings without disturbance (or disturbing others) and towards those with sensory issues (like autistic) or issues with crowds. I’ve never used one.

I love this. We have nothing at all similar here in Australia. The "slow" Wi-Fi is over 3x faster than I get hard wired... I am in a major city and get 5mb per sec DL.. 😥
A former Govt decided to NOT install fibre optic to the house but to the Node and in some places not at all and they have to still use copper wire so it is basically 3g. We are so behind in so many areas but we have Sunshine and flooding, fires, snakes, spiders and beaches? 😂
