Ghostbusters Firehouse Newly Restored 2019! FDNY Ladder 8 & My Emotional Visit To The 9/11 Memorial

- It’s 2019 and the Ghostbusters Firehouse has been recently restored and there’s already a new Ghostbusters movie on its way in 2020. FDNY’s Hook & Ladder Starion #8 served as the filming location for my favorite movie Ghostbusters (1984) but also Ladder 8 was one of the first to respond to the September 11th attack. Finding the firehouse’s connection to 9/11 would end up leading me to the 9/11 Memorial. Please join me as I explore the Ghostbusters Firehouse and see how it sent me on one of the most emotional journeys I have ever taken. Thank you for watching. There is much ahead.

Good morning everyone! I’m happy to share this moment with you. When I started making this video I didn’t realize it would lead me down to the 9/11 Memorial and I almost left the ending out of the video, but I just couldn’t.. I felt inspired to go there and something or someone was telling me to go. And like I always say.. I always take you with me.. I’ll never forget any of this and I’m happy I could share these moments with you. I appreciate you all so much. Please love all, and Love always. Life is precious! There is much ahead for all of us

I remember when it happen like it happened yesterday! I also remember EXACTLY where I was on that fateful day.
As a correction to your video. We did not leave quarters to head to the WTC that morning.
We responded from 313 church street on the corner of church and lispenard streets where we had been toned out to a gas leak. The first plane flew over us and hit the north tower and we headed down from there, not from quarters.
And by the way, I saw the inside for the first time since it being renovated when I needed to park there to file some papers with the city health benefits on rector street. They absolutely RUINED the place. It used to have character. It needed to be redone but they made it have an office building feel. Took out the wooden in wall lockers that everyone wanted to get into once the senior men retired and we moved up to those spots on the roster. There's a million things bad to say about the reno. The outside looks nice but the inside blows now. Glad I don't work there anymore, there's nothing left to have pride in with the house other than that the guys there are NYC firemen.

As a firefighter EMT and Ghostbusters fan this was an awesome well put together vlog. Just one fun fact about the Ghostbusters house... all exterior shots were indeed shot at Ladder 8. The interior shots were took place at abandoned firehouse in California that was brought back to life just for the filming of Ghostbusters

I actually have a friend that did a video inside there. I had so much fun just walking around the firehouse and remembering the movie I’m glad I could share this moment with you thanks brother
they way the Ghostbusters found it in the dilapidated state is exactly how it was found by the film makers!

Oh man! Ghostbusters is the first movie I ever remember watching. Had tons of the toys from the cartoon as well. Love this film! Pretty awesome timing too for this vlog since the teaser for the new one just dropped yesterday. Solid vlog, my friend!

Ladder Eight’s logo is awesome! Awesome shot of the truck coming out onto the street! I love the Welcome Back Ladder 8 banner, the building really looks glorious!! A NEW YORK HABIT, I LOVE IT!!! I visited the 911 memorial and museum on my visit to NYC last year too and I definitely teared up, it’s hard not to. It’s beautiful what they’ve done with the museum and surrounding area. Thanks for taking us to the Ghostbusters firehouse and the 9/11 memorial. I was tearing up along with ya. Remembering the events of that horrible day and where I was. I was in between classes at CNU and saw everything unfolding in a student lounge. I totally agree with you. We all need to love and support each other no matter our differences. That was the most heartfelt and spiritual production you made here my good friend and Brother, I was shedding tears as well when you presented the 9/11 Memorial, that day will also be known as a day of infamy. I as an American veteran will never forget and may God bless the souls of those that sacrificed their lives in the line of duty and to the souls that fell victim of that evil attack on our great nation. The Ghost Busters movies along with BTTF were my favorite 80's movies, brings back fond memories of my youth, that is so awesome that you were there at that iconic building. What a beautiful firehouse. They did a great job at restoring it. That's so cool how it is been a working firehouse over 115 years? It's so surreal seeing the 9/11 Memorial. I remember that day like it was yesterday. You had some amazing shots and wonderful words we should all live by. Awesome job Jay.
Yes they did such a great job, the firehouse looks so good now compared to the first time I saw it. It's always been a firehouse but it did sit vacant for many years I believe, and then it came back to the FDNY. It almost was demolished several times, but thanks to the people of New York City they were able to keep it alive. The recent renovation was actually 6 million dollars. I also feel like that day was just yesterday, Its still hard to believe it ever happened. I am glad so many people remember, cant imagine what it must have been like to have been there, or know someone there.. hard to think about... Thank you so much Dani I am so happy you enjoyed it.. ;)

Thanks for taking us to Freedom Tower and the 9/11 memorial. I was tearing up even before you did. Seeing the memorial, just brings up all the emotions, that we all experienced, on that day. I was busy moving into my new home when I got a call from a friend that works at the post office. She said, turn on the tv....

Bruh I went to New York on vacation twice and never got to the firehouse which sucked but I did pay my respect at the memorial may all the victims rest in peace and the families my deepest condolences
I visited in 2017, I was so excited to finally see such an iconic place from my childhood... And it was all covered up...
I was in my mid teenage years (14) when the 1st Ghostbusters movie came out, and I was a High School Graduate when the 2nd Ghostbusters movie came out.
beautiful to see that it has been thoroughly restored, it is an iconic building that holds a significant meaning due to its history of being the Ghostbusters headquarters, which are legendary pop cultural landmarks in Hollywood movies.
Thank you buddy there’s a special place in my heart for this building it’s my favorite place to just stand and stair in deep thought about the movies

I loved Ghost Busters! I have the movies now but as a kid I wore them out on VHS and had shirts, folders etc. It's one of the many just great fun 80's movies.
I don't think any of us will forget where we were on 9/11. It changed us forever. I felt like we were more innocent and had more freedoms that we don't experience so much anymore. But you're right we have and will move forward. We are stronger and wider from it. I remember the patriotism and how unified everyone was. I wish that had lingered a little more.

This was a great video brother. I remember where I was. I was digging holes in people's back yard with another guy putting sewage grinder tanks in for a pressure sewer system around a bunch of lakes. A lady from a house let us watch what was happening on her TV through a window. Was hard to think straight after knowing what had happened.

Very nice video from start to finish. Ghostbusters was always something big for me. For one the timing of the 80’ and for two with my name actually being Buster, It really helped who everyone was going to call lol I heard a lot of that in school. Still do lol. I had to work 9/11 related stuff at the time. It was one of the most heartbreaking stories I’ve had to deal in my life so far. It was a surreal experience when I visited the memorial for the first time since that day. Thanks for sharing this with everyone.

I worked in the NYPD 1pct for 7 yrs and then went to FDNY and worked in Ladder 8 for a year. Loved them both.
