This is great info. I have 2022 4xe that i'm about to get set up for flat towing. I'm doing it myself. I want the jeep still attached when we get there. :) You've convinced me to get the maximus 3 and the RVI3 braking system. I like how the Maximus 3 looks compared to a standard base plate. Anyway, thanks for the info.
You'll love it! Be sure to consider subscribing. I've got more videos on the install and details as well.
I added the tie rod bar to my Maximus/Blue Ox set up. I opted to go with quick release connections on both sides. One tip, mount the quick disconnects with them facing down, otherwise, if the tow bar articulates up enough, the connections can impact the bumper (see the lack of clearance at 5:25). Also, it very hard to install due to the lack of clearance as noted in this video.
Agreed. After I posted video I ended up doing both those pointers.
Thnx for the great videos on Jeep towing. I have a 2016 Wrangler JKU and we recently bought a Coachman Leprechaun. Now someone is giving me a slightly used Roadmaster Falcon All-Terrain tow bar and I think I want to use the Maximus 3 tow loops instead to a base plate.
Thanks for watching!
I love the look of them, they do make them for the JKU as well
Safe travels and happy camping!
Can you put that tie rod under the connection points rather than on top?
I’m going to be installing the tow bar Tie Rod next week, while on a trip.
Is there a problem with putting the tie bar below the tow bar, rather then above as you showed. Seems like there is more room below than above. Am I missing something? Other than if the pin falls out, the bar drops….
Honestly, I'm trying to remember. I feel like I thought this same thing, but when I checked there was a reason it wouldn't work - but I can't remember why.
To your point, if it does fit - I see no adverse effects.
Thanks for the reply. I’ll try it out after I get the bar on Tuesday.
