Lol, there's just something great about two middle aged guys being kind of goofy and giving their professional advice. I love these guys!
Thank you!
I've been waking up constantly throughout the night with shoulder pain for weeks. I sucked up my pride finally (especially after performing poorly at work due to grogginess and the other mental health issues that come along with lack of sleep) and followed these instructions and have slept all through the night since - every night, for going on about a week now. It has taken some getting used to when I first lay down to sleep, but that's a fair trade for sleeping all night and feeling rested throughout the day. Thanks fellas.
I've watched enough bob and brad to open my own physiotherapist practice.
Lol!
😂
Hahaha
Same here😂
Well, as I made a tour at lot of docs and pt-s, I could help more peolpe than they could help me in the past!
What a great video guys! Really happy your wife used the SleepOvation pillow to try and make you stop snoring, Bob. The world needs you! LOL.
“His head’s falling into the... black hole there!” 🤣 cracked me up!
cute
Love these guys, educational and entertaining.
I am a 100% side sleeper my entire life. Goofy hand contortions, numb to dead arms and hand and all under the pillow and around my body.:)
I found a big long huggy pillow helps a lot with mitigating back pain and dead arm (the other dead arm not under the pillow) bc I can throw my leg and arm over the long pillow. Sometimes even an additional non under the pillow arm pillow.. so complicated lol
Great tips and info as usual from the best friends we never knew we had! Thank u !b
Yep, another life long side sleeper. I've tried the back position to help with less wrinkling on my chest and face, but I just don't feel comfortable. I'll always be a side sleeper, I'm happy that way. :c)
Cish 60 I cannot sleep on my back or stomach either! Tried back sleeping for same reason. No can do. I can’t even stand to lay on my stomach at the beach or a pool I don’t know why I wonder if it’s a body composition thing.
YES BODY PILLOWS ARE GREAT! I SWEAR BY MINE!
@@nancyorkeithm1518 Yes, I wonder that as well. I just feel 'at ease' when I'm on my side, like that is how I'm supposed to lay.
@@nancyorkeithm1518 Nancy or Keith M My mom is complaining from neck and back pain with dead arms too! Can you share name or link of that long huggy pillow you've mentioned please... I would tell her to give it a try
Thank you! Had ACDF 2 years ago. Sleeping always causes me trouble. Love the new springy pillows! I will be getting some soon!
I am a dedicated side sleeper. One thing I have found that really helps is to have only 1 pillow that is the right firmness and size for you. If you are using 2 or more pillows under your head, they will move around, you'll not have the support where and the way you need it and you'll awaken stoved up. You want your neck to be generally strait with your spine.
I Love u guys! Thank u for all the knowledge u share. It’s so helpful you share why u recommend what u do. I’m excited to try some of these tips tonight :)
The Bert & Ernie of Physical Therapists. 😄 Great info, yet again, guys! 👍🏻
My pillow problem is that although I tend to sleep on my side, I will move to change position, turning onto my back or my stomach. And then the pillow that is perfect for side sleeping ends up not being good for the other positions (hyperextending my neck either forward or backward).
If I sleep on my back my lower back hurts and sciatica kicks in, if I sleep on my sides my shoulders hurt, if I sleeping stomach my neck hurts. Aging is
F U N. Lol thanks guys I alternate to whatever doesn't cause pain.
If you sciatic pain when you're on your back put a big pillow under you knees so your hip is flexed a bit. It will give you a bit of comfort time.
I'm 65 and all this pain just started cant sleep on back sleep on side shoulder hurts cant win
Have you guys tried putting pillows under your knees when sleeping on your back?
@@Thoracius I did. My back doesn't hurt, but some hours later all my dinner goes upwards. 😕
Thank you sir. I've been having really bad shoulder pain and just like Angel's you are here with a remedy. Thank you very much
Love ur channel.
Right side sleeper, bad habit of rolling forward putting more much pressure on R shoulder.
Thanks for the tips!
I bought one of the knee wedges and really love it...from your show comments (link) helped with hip pain too
Great video. Good to hear from professionals who offer options instead of generalities.
I never thought I would actually watch CZcams videos on fysiotherapy for fun 😀
Results instantly, thanks Bob and Brad.
Oh my gosh, you just helped me sooo much! Thank you.
I’ve adopted “the canal” and turmeric- my shoulder feels much better after only a few days. Thank you!
I did also, but my ribcage started to hurt no matter how big or how soft it is under it. Can you give me a hint about what kind of pillow do I need?
I’ve been needing a new pillow for a while and had mentioned it to my husband tonight. So your video was very timely - you’re right that pillows are very personal. But I’m willing to experiment to find the right one. 77 tiny pillows on the way!
Bob always reminds of a Rockwell painting ,please take as a compliment
You nailed it! Totally a compliment!
Thank you gentlemen
This information is gold. Thank you.
Love the new microphones.
Great video. I use a pillow between the knees, and have for several years. Just recently discovered the sleep ovation mattress. And pillows. Hope to purchase both when my income tax comes in. I had been looking at the purple mattress. But this looks even better. Thanks for the information!
I would have liked a demonstration with you lying on the Spring pillow. It still appears to be too flat to keep your head in the desired neutral position.
First time someone talked about the hand. Thank you
I've suffered with horrifically terrifying sleep paralysis my entire life. If I sleep on my back there's a 90 percent chance of it happening. I'll definately try a few of these things, I've always messed about with pillow placement but I didn't know it was recommended.
0
Same! That's the main reason why I sleep on my side. Like i don't always wanna sleep on my side but i DO NOT want to keep having sleep paralysis
So helpful, as usual!
I love my Sleepgram pillow and it goes with me wherever I go.
Love you guys! My problem with this is that I AM a side sleeper to FALL asleep and then I roll on my back the rest of the night. But I had rotator surgery in one shoulder, have a small tear on the other and bursitis in BOTH hips! OMG it’s getting horrible to get to sleep at night now!! I CAN’t fall asleep on my back and lately have had to resort to my stomach with lots of pillows to help me get into a comfortable enough position because I also wear a cpap. Hahahahaha!!!! My poor husband is beginning to think he’s married to pillows instead of his wife. Hahaha! Suggestion? I AM starting to do the exercises you show for the hips.
I like my buckwheat hull pillow, great solid support.
Good show, learned a lot
Thanks for this! I've been using a roll of paper towels. I take off about half the sheets and it works fine till I change positions. I've just ordered the McKenzie night roll which I was pleasantly surprised to find comes in sizes. At 5' tall that's welcome news.
Bob and Brad the COOL most famous physical therapists on the internet.
Getting older sucks...crps hand, bad elbow, now frozen shoulder. Great tips for sleeping, thanks!
I have been using 'the canal' for over a year and I love it! well.. my shoulder loves it lol🤣 You guys are awesome!!
Thank you😁💞
Is the "canal" the name of the spring pillow?
I tried to do it but I wasn’t comfortable laying on the pillow
@@TheDuckylove1 Same!
@@jumpingchi8921 I think previous comment meant the canal for shoulder that is formed between major pillow and pillow under the chest (one of the techniques Bob and Brad showed in video)
@@jumpingchi8921 watch video from 1:55
Your section on the neck got completly sidetracked talking about the pillow and how cool it is. I got neck pain but need to sleep on my side, and with the neck support and noticed you were stacking pillows with no explanation. I really hope you delve into the neck situation in another video if you havent already
Thank you. My shoulder been hurting and I woke up yesterday with my shoulder hurts and still now at 1:59am, the next day.
thank you ,will do
Hey these guys are the most famous physical therapists on the internet
If I sleep on my back, I start snoring. If I sleep on my right side, my left nostril collapses and I can’t breathe. Sleeping on my left side is all I got left. And my iComfort mattress is amazing. No more shoulder or hip pain!
Very good, ´´Hard times will come, and a positive outlook is what gets you through.´´ - Marie Osmond
I'm a flip-flopper-sleeper all night long. Gallbladder issues make right side sleeping difficult sometimes. Having some ACV, apple cider vinegar, in water will help that. Keeps belching and gerd way down.
I use one of those "C" shaped neck pillows for travelers to put between my knees when sleeping on my side. It's much more comfortable than a larger pillow and not as hot.
Whoever gave the thumbs down is RUDE.!!!!
Hi guys - I am so so grateful for all you do - I have watched many of your videos and use a lot of your techniques - THANK YOU.
Quick question: do you have an alternative and comparable mattress recommendation to the SleepOvation mattress, that is available in Europe?
Bought my first sleep ovation mattress and pillow and I could never go back to memory foam or anything else. I use to wake up in pain every single morning but now I sleep throughout the whole night and have a crazy amount of energy throughout the day
These guys are hysterical!!!
🎉😊 What’s the coupon code for the spring pillow!!!!?? I’m a pillow junkie!! Having Fibromyalgia/CRPD since a teen, I’ve attempted pillows from $10-$100! Body pillows, the giant U shaped one, the bamboo ones (I hate them), down alternative & memory foam. Memory foam does great for a tush-cush in the car. Why? They make the outsides of seats flare up and into your thighs. Ultra painful when you’ve had hip replacement & excessive trigger points.😮 I use a square couch pillow to go in restaurants. I have a gut but no but which makes wooden chairs unbearable. We have no less than 8 pillows from standard to king on our king size bed. I tend to sleep on my back w 3 pillows layered downward toward my waist. We also have a bed frame that moves BUT we differ on the best way to have it! 😅 pillows r the answer!
*mhhhmm*
*sure*
*uggghuu*
*right*
Lol love these guys.
Thank you
You guys are great
The left side is the right side 🖤 I have been camping enough times to know how to keep comfortable and avoid problems 👍
I love this but how the heck do you turn over? I do a lot or so my husband tells me! Do you reposition all that stuff when you turn?
I used to do it with nothing but now I have pillows under my arms, between my legs and sometimes even my feet lmfao, I can't sleep without them now and I turn over fairly regular, just get used to moving them every single time.
Yes
How about body pillows?
That spring pillow is a great idea but I can tell it’s to thin to keep your head level, you’ll end up having to stack another thin one under it, unless it’s for someone petite with small shoulders.
My memory foam pillow is some xl one i got one time. I find it fluffs up during a week of use. But i dont sleep with my head fully in the middle of the pillow either. When it does this i change the pillows side im on, bc i like to bunch it up myself.
I use my wife as my body pillow.
Regarding the thumbnail picture of the cervical pillow - it does help if you sleep on your side, but you can flip the pillow around so your neck is not tilting up and there is support to keep that bottom shoulder from getting smushed onto the mattress. The idea is to try to make as straight a line as possible in the whole spine with two crosses for the legs and the shoulders, which does indeed take a lot of experimenting with positions and pillows. It helps dissipate any gas and blockages in the innards overnight if you sleep on your left side, which is very useful in making it easier to fall asleep and get good quality rest.
Is sleeping with a weighted blanket bad for your spine?
*Yes doc nothing can go wrong with number 7...i vouch for* #7
Im deciding between this pillow and the purple pillow.
Side sleeper , I like the contoured pillows with about a 6 inch hole cut in the middle of it so my ears are not smashed all night.
Hello Bob and Brad i have been watching your videos for some time as i have had lots of issues with my shoulders, middle back and neck. Regardless what i do i always so stiff and if i manage to loosen up 5 minutes later i am stiff again. It is causing dizzyness too. Any ideas. Thank you
Now I've gotta buy 4 or 5 pillows 🙇🏾
I rotate from left to right depending on the situation
Thanks guys this video came right on time I am getting ready to go to bed
I don't think your right about the reflux. I have a semi-hiatus hernia for 40 years and if I have eaten a bit later than I should have, on the right side is better. If you look at a Stomach the esophagus isn't a tube that comes in at the top in the high end but comes in lower in a bend into the Stomach. I think that gravity makes the food and Stomach sag down lower than the tube out when on the right side. I sleep on my right and have noticed lot of times when turning to my left side from the right I will suddenly belch air a bit.
Hey guys love the content i just subscribe thanks for everything thing you guys do. If i can make one suggestion...GET SOME NEW MIKE'S LOL
I don't know about washing a pillow with springs in it.
I want those pillows.
$85 is still pretty high for a pillow!
Considering that I won't spend more than $5 for a pillow, I haven't spent even half that much on pillows throughout my entire life.
Katarina S. I went way out & bought a My Pillow ($50) which didnt do a thing for me. Sigh.
not really, I mean you'll use it every night. how many times will u sleep in ur life? more than 85 times. consider it $1 a night. not bad, imo.🛏💤😴😪🛌
All those dislikes are from people who sleeps on their stomach 😂
When i sleep on my sides, my arm that i sleeping on rolls forward, causing the affect scapula to pertrude (like a winged scapula). How do i fix this issue?
I need a curved pillow because of severe neck pain do to arthritis. I am a side sleeper as well.
What's the name of the pillow?
The spring pillow looks interesting, but it does appear to be made of foam, which keeps the heat. I have too much "internal heat", so I do NEED a COOL pillow., After trying many different kinds, I've yet to find one. Do you KNOW of such ???
What's the best way to sleep with tendonitis in hips
Hi Brad & Bob, what do you think about the kneck sling...that is advertising with your video.
I had really bad shoulder pain about a year ago and it came back like 6 mos ago again and it last a couple months. I've never experienced anything so painful and miserable. I am pretty sure it was a pinched nerve, it caused pain and numbness anyways it finally went away but now I can't sleep on the opposite side of it or the bad shoulder side goes completely numb all down my arm and 3 of my fingers lol! No pain right now just numbness. What could be the cause and any tips on what I can do?
I just had both my arms amputated and I sleep like a baby.
What about for tight upper trapezius'? I have only recently paid attention to it, all my life pretty much I have slept on my side and noticed I seem have my head somewhat tucked into side and my right trapezius is elevated in this position. And this has to led to major tightness for my upper traps. Is there any solution sleep wise to fix this? I've tried sleeping on my back and even on my side and fixing my posture but the tightness is pretty bad it's uncomfortable. That product you guys were talking about in the beginning; does that work for this? I've tried stretching the muscles at home and using foam rollers in the gym to no avail really - it impacts my lifts and makes scapular retraction a little difficult. Thanks in advance.
just the intro made me like this video
Some ppl sleep on their side...some on their back and me...I just curl in on myself, hips to one side and upper body to the opposite direction. XD
Worst part on beeing a sidesleeper is having a hard matrass. Spine sags totaly down without extra support. A soft matrass allows you hips and shoulder to sink lower and streighten your spine
Would you recommend to avoid bolsters for side-sleeping ones?
Hey Brad, what grade is your spondy? I have a grade 2. About 1.8 cm slip. I don't really have any issue sleeping on my side, but I have a pretty decent foam mattress, so perhaps it helps keep my spine in a more neutral position.
Do yall have a bed you would recommend? One that's good for watching tv in? Maybe a sleep number that folds upwards or something?
Almost every mattress made today will work with an adjustable base. The bases aren’t cheap though. You can spend anywhere from $300 to a couple of thousand dollars for one. But they help a lot of people deal with GERD or back pain. As well as reading or watching tv in bed.
not sure about watching tv but I do like my Purple mattress. Have been using it for 2 years.
@@RG_sssSMOKING Yeah, Ig i can just get a bed that can elevate how I want and then look for a good mattress. I was just hoping for there opinion on one for those that watch tv in their room on the bed, what they would recommend.
@@seanomight5401 You should get some suggestions. May need to PM Brad and Bob. That would make a good video for them.
@@RG_sssSMOKING idk how to message people on youtube though or else i would. I mean its nothing ill be able to get right away. But when i do get my next bed, its good to know.
I find sleeping at a 45degree angle(partially on your back and partially on your side) helps me.
By any chance would you guys happen to be from Pennsylvania?
Will there ever be a international giveaway ?
Sleep ovation pillow
I have major shoulder issues because of the way I sleep. I've tried the canal method, but it is uncomfortable for me, and only helps marginally. Every morning I wake up in pain.
Hi. I've been sleeping in my lazy boy chair for over two years now. Because I am overweight. And I have sleep apnea. I lay down and the fat around my neck and shoulders strangles me. There's a lot of mornings that I wake up with a really sore neck and a migraine headache. I do the neck and shoulders exercises every morning. So I was wondering if you have any ideas and advice for me to go sleep in my bed again? P.S. no I don't have a machine yet. Still working on it. Should have it soon.
Well I think I need more pillows xD
I'm thinking in one of those pregnant women use, but I don't know if those are useful, I have several spine issues is less painful if I sleep on a side :-/
There's stretches for shoulder or arm
that intro bussin
Are 2 pillows necessary for side sleeping?
Lol y’all are funny.
Just noticed Bob's hand is in not showing his Dupetryns ...did he have surgery? it seems totally normal! Great!!!
Joan, good question, he will need to make a video on how he cured it. No surgery though.
