  • Dr. Friedman states, "There is not a single person in the world who can make this pencil." He explains that the creation of even a simple object - like the "lead" pencil - requires the knowledge of many people, lumberjacks, steel manufacturers, miners, etc. These people may not speak the same language, they may not know or like one another, yet the market enables them to combine knowledge and effort to produce wealth. Introduced by Arnold Schwarzenegger. Discussion with David Brooks, Wall Street Journal and James Galbraith, University of Texas. © 1990 / 48 min.

Am I the only one who was shocked to see Arnold promoting Friedmans' work in the intro?

Arnold's views likely changed over time. Somehow he was influenced and encouraged to go a different direction than Friedman concepts

Dr. Friedman sounds very much like an "Austrian" Economist throughout much of this video!

No brother I waited 45 minutes for an inspector to come and check my load of frozen chicken. He looked in the door and said "okay." I closed the trailer and I was on my Merry way. Since I was just the truck driver I don't know how much it cost for that guy to say that. I know he was driving a nicer pickup than me and he was better dressed. Fact if I remember correctly he was a little fatter than me too!!

Here is the great knowledge that is almost entirely lost in our society.

it was never understood, nor adopted.
it is too liberating, and too simple -- people love unnecessary complexities and shakles.

Please simplify and organise the playlist in a sequential fashion, episode by episode. Thanks.

Big fan of dr Friedman. I think one caveat to his ambition is revealed when he says ‘these are the highest paid workers in hong Kong’ and the guy is carving an elephant tusk. If it weren’t for government regulations, elephants would likely be extinct by now. Of course consistent and reasonable regulations are compatible with a more or less free market

University of Texas guy is frightening to me. Small wonder he never won a Nobel Prize in economics. He drew his University of Texas salary from the taxpayer.

Stefan Molenuex is against socialism. He needs to watch these videos! Chase our own rainbows!

Gilbrath is annoying, he doesn’t shut up. He asks multiple questions and then prevents anyone from answering as he introduces another topic.

Oh how the times have changed when now we openly champion socialism even though it hasn't worked since ever.

Arnold is a big lefty, no way he really like Friedman
