- These have to be one of the best finishing sander ever made. Most of them are probably still running today.
This one is was made in 1997 and has been dropped causing the handle to snap.
Customer bought and supplied the handle himself. Simply wanted me to change it over.
But the sander also had 2 bad bearing which also needed to be changed.
These are a easy sander to work on and built like tanks.
These sanders where truly built to last a lifetime.

HE makes it look so easy, I hope some one out there is learning . We need people like Dean to keep the old tools going
I restore mine
I can’t believe how well the two pieces of the base plate fitted together. Not a spec of dust in the middle of a sander impressive 👍🏻
I just bought one! Thanks🎉 it is balanced better than I expected 😮
i think this probably weighs twice what a modern sander would - always a sign of quality. I have an old ELU 4'" belt sander and frame, and it's still a pleasure to use.
Love this older Makita gear unlike most of the crap they’re making now. Have you noticed the older gear pre 2005 is a different colour teal to the current Makita teal.
Just a question - how much would such a fix cost? How financially viable is it for the clients? Are there being sent by individual clients or companies? Or do you fix them up for yourself?
Enjoyed the videos, very interesting, keep it going!
What’s the deal with the cowbell on the side of the sander?
Good job fixing the rest of it, but I wish you’d chucked the cowbell.
7:33 any ideas to get this screw off?
Mine is ready to go🎉
I don't understand why people are making vertical videos!!
