The remixes on the Beastie Boy Anthology DVD are really good as well. One of the first DVDs you could select which audio track went to the video. Think each track had at least 3 remixes. If they didn't have that, you could watch Shake Your Rump on any of the cameras they shot the video on 🙌
Well. I Know one thing that don't care who or what you are. Cancer sure sucks, but usually you can't do anything except accepting that you'll die and die. Very simple very cruel and never pick the comfortable time to come. A major prick but still a part of the show eh...(in my case he came for a visit 6 times so far, so I'm kinda an expert in the ways you can die from that unholy shit. Not sure but hope MCA made it fast and painless. RIP*
Beastie Boys’ music videos always look like the boys are having a blast not just recording the music, but the amazing videos. Can truly see how much they appreciated doing what they loved most!
Saw them in Oakland when Hello Nasty came out. Fucking epic. Didn’t even care that the girls behind us had a bad trip, got sick and puked on the floor.
Their lyrics were timeless and crucial for my adolescence. It will be 8 years from Adam's death in 6 days. Bring him back, we need more people like MCA in today's world.
I had to see this a couple of times the realize that the Twin Towers are in the background. The song is more relevant now than it was 20 years ago, unbelievable.
Then I don't understand how the description reads: "Music video by The Beastie Boys performing Alive. (C) 2009 Capitol Records, LLC" That's 8 years after they went down, so...what's the deal?
I've always been a beasties fan, saw them way back on the Raising Hell tour in the 80s, but I'm the same as you, consuming more beasties now than ever. Good music is timeless.
_Lest we forget: Country Mike_ In 1999 the Beastie Boys released Hello Nasty a year earlier and netted themselves two Grammy awards for the effort. One of the guys, Mike D, had just formed his own record label named Grand Royal Records. It was almost Christmas. Of course Mike’s first order of business was to record a full country album with his band and press it to vinyl, a tongue-in-cheek present for family and friends. Most reports claim that around 300 original copies were pressed, making Country Mike’s Greatest Hits the rarest Beastie Boys records out there - far more scarce than even their numbered 2000 anthology The Sounds Of Science or various special editions released over the years. When news of the album had leaked and Mike D began to be questioned about its existence, he manifested various tales about Country Mike, his background, and even his own sanity. Sometimes Country Mike was a figment of Mike D’s imagination, sometimes he was an old friend from a troubled upbringing, other times he didn’t exist at all. After the initial 1999 release a few bootlegs were pressed, so be wary if you catch a copy online.
in th erly 90s used to hang at KXCI tucson. there was a cd. pauls boutique except all the raps were in finnish. the cover had dudes in a log cabin studio wearing toques. dude said they reproduced teh backing track from teh samples but i doubt it, sounded like teh original. so. i think that is probably about the rarest beastie pressing. wait until you homeys is all stoneded then put that disc on.
I downloaded country Mike many years ago and it was definitely Mike D singing on it. I think the music he used was from a Sonic Foundry Acid Pro loop CD.
Thank you Spike Jones for making such a beautiful documentary but most of all thank you Beastie Boys for staying true to yourselves . Rest In Peace MCA ❤️

Probably the Beastie Boys' most underrated song IMO.
"If you learn to love you're in for a surprise. It could be nice to be alive"
Yes, so beautiful. I read about their whole evolution lately and am really touched by that.
Yeah probably it's under rated because it wasn't on a proper album, it was released as a stand alone single with their anthology album
Over rated is nothing
i agree
