“Vito and nicks… it doesn’t get anymore classic than this” followed by “I’ve never actually been here” lmaoooo
I'd do horrible things for Vito and Nick's right now
Yep, their best pie is the Italian beef. Crazy good concoction. Never thought I’d like Italian beef and giardinera on a pizza, but it’s the tops.
New subscriber here! I am a Chicagoan, amateur chef, foodtube enthusiast and now a fan! Even though I don't really like sweets and gear towards savory I love how you featured pastries of Chicago.Very little of the food channels do that. Keep up the great content.
Thank you, Alex! We appreciate your generosity, and it’s an honor to get a stamp of approval from a Chicagoan!! (We were only temporary residents 😂) We definitely want to explore more of Chicago’s food scene, it feels like there are an endless amount of things to try!
Gene and Jude’s isn’t a Chicago Dog, it’s a depression dog. No celery salt, pickle Spear or tomato. Chicago Dog is Mustard , relish, sport peppers, tomato, pickle spear, celery salt, onions. Been going to G&J’s for 40+ yrs.
Unbelievably good!!
Vito and Nick's frozen pizza is really good too!! Obviously not the same as the real thing but nice to always have on hand. Thanks for the post - fun watch.
I’ve been to Chicago twice. Best food I’ve ever had and I live in Hawaii now and the food here is amazing.
Chicago is a special food city!! Hawaii is hard to beat though 😆
Bro you need to go to super dawg if you haven’t yet
Back in the day we used to call those sweet rolls that you were eating those apricot in the beginning.
At least most of the bakeries up there on the north side of Chicago off of Augusta boulevard
If you're ever looking for steak, ditch the city and jaunt out to 111th in Worth. Krapils is the most underrated steakhouse in Chicagoland. (They lost some of the ambiance when they remodeled, but still serving the best steaks.
Good to know! We’ll definitely add it to the list for next time, never would have heard of it! Thanks for the tip 👍
Very cool that you visited different neighborhoods than you did in the last video. A lot of spots I've never heard of!
It was a lot of fun exploring outside of the main city and trying out places we have never been! So many of the long-standing establishments are in the outer neighborhoods. It was an insane amount of food but such a fun day 😁
You did absolutely right by going to Johnnie's for your beef. I recommend getting the combo next time, their sausage is amazing.
Ahh, good to know! Sounds amazing!
Gosh darn you northerners and your johnnies, its all about Al beef on taylor. Lol. Johnnies is okay, but Al's has always been number one for me
You should’ve gone to Ricobene’s for a breaded steak! 😀
Oh, good call! We've never been, definitely have to try it out at some point!
Dude before ice cream you showed sign of red hot ranch! Dude you should have poped in there for a burger and dog and a pound of fried shrimp for the table! Best in the city!!!
Good content. I know all them spots. Good you got weber s too.
Weber’s was awesome! 👍
Fun fact, it’s “Gene and Jude’s”. The “Gene’s” on the sign was a mistake that’s lasted for decades
Really?? Wow, never knew that but always thought it sounded funny 😆 that explains it!
this video is highly regarded
Thank you so much! We appreciate you watching 😄
when you go to Harold's you get the hot or better yet the mild Sauce on the chicken and fries! much better experience! way better! lol
Hearing a lot about mild sauce! We’ll have to try it!
Holy Moly!! That was a great food tour!!
So glad you liked it! It was a really fun day, it's hard to believe how many great food spots are in Chicago!
Top notch content! 🍕🌮🍩
Thanks so much, guys!! We definitely had a lot of fun with this one 😋
Thanx for not making it touristy.West Lawn and Southside Catholic League!
So glad you enjoyed it! It was definitely a fun day in the city!
There was a beef joint on Irving park just west of river rd. Was it jays?. This was back in the 80's. I live in Az now so not sure if it is still there. And no deep dish for real chicagoans.
Great video dude!
Thanks for watching! We were so full at the end but it was so much fun 😆
As noted by someone above, Ricobene's for the breaded steak sandwich, and try the chicken vesuvio sandwich also. Jim's Original for a Maxwell Street Polish and a Pork Chop sandwich. The Golden Steer for French onion soup and Prime Rib. Laschet's Inn for schnitzel or sauerbraten (an acquired taste) or the Saturday night special deep fried pork shank.
I agree with you on the schnitzel. (Though the Brau Haus used to have the best schnitzel til it closed). But Berghoff still has the best sauerbraten. (Even though they went through that weird phase in the early 2000's when the daughter took over the restaurant and completely changed the menu. They are back to serving solid German fare. And their flourless chocolate cake can't be beat. though they used to make the airiest, most flavorful white mousse. Sadly, that was discarded during the avant garde phase.)
Praise God that the beef wasn’t from Portillos 🤮
Haha definitely not!! We can get that even up in Wisconsin these days
Should go to little village for the sweet Mexican food and the people there are welcoming
“It’s like a kringle”
Me: having to look up “kringle”
Haha 😂 definitely a Wisconsin thing
A local does not necessarily mean they know the best places.
I was in a new city, I asked a local where the best hamburger is, he replied Wendy's. Another, pizza, and he said Hunt bros.
Be sure your local guide is a foodie
Mild sauce, not hot sauce. You should have talked about the history of Chicago mild sauce. It’s culturally important
👍👍
Lived in Chicago for 4 years, never knew about mild sauce! So interesting!
Saying deep dish is only for tourists is what recent transplants love to say.
Hahaha so true, we do 😆
I didn’t love Johnnie’s. It’s overrated in my opinion
you are incorrect, in my opinion
Gene and Jude’s is not a “Chicago style” it’s a “depression dog”. It uses a different mustard and it’s only that onions and sport peppers. No tomato or pickle.
Ahh, okay! Thanks for the clarification!
Different mustard? Wtf are you talking about? Yellow mustard on every dog in Chicago no matter where you go
They don't use celery salt either. But they do use relish.
Vito and Nicks looks like a dump, why is anyone pretending otherwise?
