I have to closed my heart and kept it aside ,I have to move on with broken heart ,and even now his shadow always and forever in my heart ,...I was young ,18 years old .,still live with my parent at that time , and they asked me to leave the country cuz they didn’t want me to get married with the enemy,They Called ... it’s just sad , Years pass by ,we contacted with the neighbors and they told me he came back to visited them and asked them if I ever come back my home town 💔 When I watch this movie,I couldn’t stop crying,people may or may not believe it but this is my true story..... I watched some other movies with the same actor Matthias Schoenaerts, and hmm.. I don’t know how to explain.. but he is a very calm man, doesn’t talk much, but his actions/gestures are telling everything😍. I don’t know if you had the same reflex guys!!

Also hast du gesagt , es sei nicht wahr , als sie sagte , sie habe ihre Meinung geändert , einen Fehler gemacht , weil der männliche Teil alles fühlte und alles verstand, wie wir es in solchen Momenten verstehen . Ein schöner Eindruck, der Film ist für immer bei mir.

Just saw for the first time. It was very moving and at such a bittersweet time in history. There is so much character and refinement in both Bruno and Lucile It really took me in, and isn't that what movies are supposed to do. Will be watching many times. Is it possible that this story could have a follow-up as the original author had made more than one during her time of writing?

Couldn't they just waited for the germans to leave and he can get back to his family or just keep hiding since no one found him anyway?! And that officer if he didn't like fighting why did he keep doing it?! Couldn't he just get back to Germany and live in peace?!!!
The novel was incomplete because the author died in a concentration camp. We don’t know exactly how the story was to end. The author probably had an idea about how the novel was to finish but she unfortunately was captured and killed before she could finish the novel.
