    So very grateful you did this video. Got my first corset today. Instead of it being 1 long ribbon, it came laced like you would a pair of shoes with 2 long shoe strings. I watched your video and did it the right way and now it closes up the way it should. Thank you so very much.

    I bought a corset about 2 years ago, I wore it about times because it took too long to put on. I found it so hard to tighten the lace and the corset was so uncomfortable. I was using the bow on the bottom method and using my door knob to help me. This would cause the corset to shift lower on my body. So I had problems sitting, the peak in the front was pushing out and the corset was pinching me in places. After I watched your video it makes everything so much easier. I tightened it up in about a min, I can sit,I get no pinching and it is tighter than ever so no peaking. I should probable spend more time and tighten it more, but for now I am very happy with the result. Thank you very much for posting these videos.

    I've seen you show the ex at the ears. I get how that gives an extra cinch at the waist. does this also lock in the tightness of the laces? that's important and there is a way to do it. I have of course it that as you pull it tighter and let go it doesn't undo what you just pulled tight

    • @LucysCorsetry
      @LucysCorsetry  Před 9 lety

      I have a video on hiding corset laces here:
      czcams.com/video/Lutao5cX3Z4/video.html
      I don't recommend wrapping it around the waist, I've seen pictures of corsets that had the fashion fabric wear away from the friction of tying laces tightly around the waist. If the laces are way too long, you can trim them (RandomCorset has a video on her channel on how to do that) but avoid cutting them too short - remember that you need to loosen the laces every time you get into and out of your corset.

  • @jessarittenhouse3183
    @jessarittenhouse3183 Před 10 lety

    Great tutorial! What if your corset laces both in the front and the back, though? When I got my corset (an overbust bought off the rack), the ladies that sold it to me showed me how to lace it, and gave me instructions, but I lost them! I've never completely unlaced the back, and it was done with the bunny ears style, but my fiance pulled the laces completely out of the front the last time I wore it (I wasn't feeling well, and when we got home, I just wanted to get out of it quickly, and I didn't think to stop him before he pulled them out). The laces in the front are clearly considerably shorter than the ones in the back, and while I never saw the front laced up (the ladies at the shop laced me in from the back, and told me the easiest way to get in and out was to keep the back laced and tighten it from the front - I'm very, VERY new to corseting!), it seemed to be laced from the top all the way down to the bottom, and the ties were at the bottom. It also has ties on the side over my hips, which they said could be loosened for mobility. I want to relace the front of the corset so I can wear it again, but I don't want to do it wrong!

    • @LucysCorsetry
      @LucysCorsetry  Před 10 lety +1

      If your corset originally had the front lacing with the bow at the very bottom, then most likely it didn't have bunny ears but was simply laced with the center of the lacing at the very top, and the two ends out the very bottom. There is nothing wrong with lacing it that way. :) Just keep lacing criss-cross all the way down the corset, not stopping to loop the bunny ears at the waistline.
      You can see my video here which shows how to tighten your corset without the pulls at the waistline. On my corset it's in the back, but you can use the same technique for the front:
      Self-Lacing a Corset Without "Bunny Ears"

    5 meters is more than 15 feet. Is that correct or should it have been 5-7 feet? What length do other styles of lacing require?

    • @LucysCorsetry
      @LucysCorsetry  Před 5 lety

      You need much more than 5-7 feet of lacing for corsets! 5 meters is about the minimum. For high back, longline or overbust corsets it’s better to go with 8 meters.

    +Lucy's Corsetry, can I start this lacing technique from the bottom of my corset and work up with the knot being made at the top of the corset? • @LucysCorsetry
      @LucysCorsetry  Před 8 lety

    What if you have a shorter corset?

    • @LucysCorsetry
      @LucysCorsetry  Před 7 lety

      Scarlett RavenFX - the lacing should work the same way, it just means that it will probably have fewer "X"s in the back. Still locate the waistline (where the waist tape should be) and this is where the bunny ears should be positioned. Then count upwards so you know whether to start "under" or "over".
