Don't underestimate a Japanese maple's ability to withstand wind. I live on the western slope of Colorado (notorious for ferocious spring winds). All 4 of my maples have thrived despite the wind (and alkaline soils and low humidity). They are pretty tough little soldiers. Beautiful result on your front entryway overall. Glad you're on the mend.

Perhaps invest in a trug to put soil in temporarily to avoid mess, plus a tray to lay plants on temporarily, plus another trug to put small rubbish you dig up into. Makes life easier. A kneeling mat will keep your knees happy too. A trip to the garden centre for these, plus a decent size watering can might be on your agenda for happier gardening,and a more efficient look to your videos?
Hi Virginia , thank you for your message & thoughts , as iv recently moved house most of my gardening equipment and potting shed tool are still in boxes in the garage I must get around to unpacking them & as for the watering can we forgot to bring it all together lol 😂 so yes a trip to the garden centre is on the cards & I may treat myself when I’m there giggles 🤭
