  • In this Martial Arts Secrets Revealed program Nidar Singh of Nihang Shastar Vidya, in his 2nd masterclass on the Sikh battlefield combat art, shows how to duel with style, how the trident like spear is used against cavalry and elephant attackers and how to deploy it against multiple foot soldiers. Additionally use of the axe in a crowded battlefield scenario is graphically illustrated.
Nidar Singh Nihang is the last surviving master of the Baba Darbara Singh Shastar Vidya Akhara established in 1661. He is dedicated to preserving the once secret heritage of the Guru's art of war that he learnt in the Punjab in India.

This guy knows what he is talking about. His footwork and awareness alone are masterful

yes he is probably excellent in what he is doing but frankly, he doesnt tell us much-he is also a master of not delivering the message to his apprentices, master of confusion to others....I dont know whether he does it deliberately(and so more in a paid course only) or subconsciously.....I did not get almost anything of what he shows to us on videos, and I am not idiot, cause when other masters from Kali-escrima or kung fu, karate or aikido are explaining something it gives me sense -here almost nothing, except that i understand that this style in its movements and all is completely different of what we saw before....indian way...

he wont need the protection for one and two given his mentality and foot work it doesnt matter how "fast" the combat speed is he is controlling distance and the rhythm of his opponents. martial arts is to be examined much like you would examine a peice of music.

it seems master nidars techniques are suspect to skeptical criticisms. although his footwork and distancing seem mastered, he seems to trail techniques into one another without much explanation.. statements like we go here. he seems to be reacting to his students movents and rolling off what could be done much like fight choreography.. interesting sword styles though.

That’s what real martial is…it isn’t about techniques, it’s about principles. Otherwise you won’t be able to adapt to the opponent’s movement

im not an expert but being in the middle of 3 men is not a postion i would want to be in! rather I would perfer them all not split up and in infront of me together. this can only be done by moving away while facing them!
