Hey TAETRO, that is the link to part 2 (this one here) but not the link to part 3?! 😅
@@ronsn8071 fixed!
@@Taetro Thank you! I have just finished understanding this part here. It took me only a few days to get the "thirds" and "major"/"minor" thing right (I hope) ❤️ 🙂
Little fun fact: In German there is no note/key(?) B but an H instead. I found it eye opening, that it is actually A to G in English, which makes more sense, but I think there must be a reason that it's an H German 😅
Listen man, I've been trying to learn this stuff for a long time. It's shocking I haven't found a series that breaks these concepts down as clearly and simply as you do here. Everything else I've seen so far seems needlessly over-complicated or focuses on things that are irrelevant or too advanced, the building blocks you're giving here are just great. Keep doing God's work.
Seriously! Dude is awesome!
God Approved
Exactly, I've played music since highschool and every time I try to pursue any further I get stopped at Music Theory because none of the information really sticks, but after watching this I'm able to connect a lot of the information that didn't make sense with his teaching. Thank you sir!
I have the full video piano course of Stephen Ridley, he teaches everything about notes , chords, rythm, etcetera..

The goat
I've been a musician for 30 years and I have never heard anyone (or considered it myself) explain chord progressions with such ease. You've said many times that there is so much about music that people THINK they don't get simply because "formal" explanations over-complicate things and this is a million percent proof of that. Bravo.
I love how you keep repeating what what we learned so far throughout the whole video. It really helps me ton.
Right! These professors need to take notes lol
You literally explained this so clearly and patiently. This is the first time music theory was actually enjoyable to learn so thank you so much for this.
How do you "literally" explain something? 😆
@@MeMe-wh7tr reading comprehension -100
@@anexpertonthematter1468 Can you please tell why was he skipping a note between F,A,C in F major scale and is it neccessary to skip a note for chord progressions?
I’m energetically aligned with this video
there’s no such thing as a coincidence 😉
This dude deserves so much attention . I find this material so hard to study those videos saved me
🖤
I totally agree..
@@bimatvug Can you please tell why was he skipping a note between F,A,C in F major scale and is it neccessary to skip a note for chord progressions?
@@geetamishra7478 Because that's how you determine major/minor chords. You don't necessarily have to skip a note for chord progressions, you could play F-G-C and it will still be a chord, that is an Fsus2. But most western music(pop music in particular) generally only stick to major and minor chords, so skipping any other note would make sense because that is how you play major/minor chord.
I #Agree, he is Dope.
bro I literally feel like I should be paying you tuition right now this is so goddamn helpful I've tried learning music theory basics a million different times on a million different websites and this is the one that really made everything make sense god bless you good sir
I just did! I gave a Super Thanks for the first time in my life. This guy deserves it.
@@NameEinfuegen Can you please tell why was he skipping a note between F,A,C in F major scale and is it neccessary to skip a note for chord progressions?
@@geetamishra7478 if I understand your question, you need to account for the additional half step needed because there is Only a half step between B and C, and again for E and F. I think of it as a kind of stutter step that needs to happen sometimes. I hope this helps and doesn’t additionally confuse, I’m also just learning myself.
This is most definitely the best chord explanation I’ve seen yet. Chords made no sense to me, and within forty five minutes, I have all the knowledge I need for production. Your seriously a life saver Taetro
You are a true teacher. i've never felt I could understand this stuff before watching your videos. Thank you very much.
thanks so much Kent - so glad the videos are helping!
I'll be really honest with you, this is the first time in my life watch two videos about music theory, because I usually watch a video and don't even complete it because of the lots of info and confusion for me as a beginner. So Thank you for that, because I watched this one and the previous one and really understand a lot of it and willing to train myself more. Thank you so much.
This guy has a natural talent to be a teacher. Everything is so well explained. I'm impressed.
"Suddenly sounds like a song" -- such good vibes listening to this. super useful. Nice work!
love these! thanks for sharing!
Really thankful for this series dude, keep up the good work!
Dude thank you so much for this video and part one in this music theory series. I bought Ableton last year and have yet to really dive into it since every time I want to start I can’t get over the anxious feeling of being overwhelmed. I’ve watched countless videos on music theory (among other things) but so far yours have been the best. Thank you for these simple yet detailed breakdowns, they’ve helped a lot, looking forward to watching part 3 next!
Your stuff is really helpful, thank you !!!
I was losing my mind trying to comprehend and understand. I played this video back literally 7 times trying to find where I misunderstood something. The end of the video you mentioned you may have to do that and it's the process of learning, it made me tear up a lil. Thank you for what you're doing here Taetro!
This is really helpful and such great production quality!
I am so glad I found your channel, I just subscribed and loving this series. You are the only person I've found that explains this stuff perfectly, so thank you for this!
love how concepts are explained calmly but doesn't sound boring ykwim thank you for sharing these! looking forward to the next installment of this series! 😁
As someone who has been a musician for over a decade and was formally taught this, I genuinely feel this was the most effective and practical explanation I’ve heard.
Awesome series! Back in the day I've learned scales and chords on 6 lines music paper, memorising circle of fifths, calculating chords based on how many (and of course which) sharp signs are there next to the violin key. I wish I learned this that young age the way you show it. So straight forward and fun! Keep it up please! :)
Top quality! Thanks for this amazing series!
Really digging these theory videos. I love your calm demeanour.
Everything is clicking now, thank you 🥲 Excited to see your future videos!
Thank you for this video!! You are really good at explaining this😊
thank you for this series, brother. It helps alot
You’re a legend for this whole series my friend! Thank you!!
BEAST!!!! Such a valuable video and understandable at my level!!
This gave me so much clarity, thank you so much!
you explain this like nobody else, it's really a joy!
making it sound easy and, in fact, making it easy 👌👍
This has been so enjoyable to learn. You make this easy to understand and make music production fun. Keep up the good work!
These are great , I really appreciate your time and teachings exactly what i needed and was hoping to find
I've watched a few others to learn music theory, and even though your videos seems just as full of information as theirs are. you have a way of making all the concepts easier to comprehend and commit to memory. thank you for these.
Great stuff man keep it coming, such a useful and easy to follow info… love it
Thank you, Taetro. Truly helpful! Nice painting btw
Love this guy. I watched part 1 and 2 yesterday and I instantly understood the major chords, every other videos I've watched I'd get hypnotized and not hear what they are explaining. Thank you for making these videos
This is the best music theory series I've ever seen. Thanks for this!
I never thought learning music could be this interesting... You are a great teacher!
Please don't stop with this series. You explain things so well and this is great chance to learn everything about music production. Keep up the good work !
The first part was beyond helpful. Knowing what keys to play in the scale is beyond useful. Excited to hop into part 2. Bless your soul my guy!
Thank you for all this videos!!
Super helpful! Thank you for taking your time.
The amount of fun i am having by learning is insane, your videos are so encouraging for a beginner, thank you man!
I love this series so far! I took conservatory piano from age 4-16, and when it came to theory, I failed my exam the first attempt and then didn't show up the second attempt lol! I found that once I hit a certain point in the curriculum I just hit a wall and couldn't understand anymore. You make it super easy and I wish I had learned theory in a less mathematical way like you mentioned in your first video. Can't wait for more! :)
OMG this is so delightful!! I finally can start to understand!
Thank you so very much for this. I've been interested in learning this for years now but always lacked the motivation because I never knew where to start. I don't know a lot yet but a lot more than a moment ago. You make it so simple and fun to learn!
Thank you so much for sharing this!
I have seen tons of tutorials on other channels, but yours have been the easiest for me to grasp since I've played by ear all my life. You teach it in a simple, yet effective way. Thank you‼💯
That feeling when you watched this and realize you know a lot more about music theory than you thought you did
Thank you so much for sharing this knowledge! You’re such a great teacher, and I’ve learned a ton since I started watching your channel. This series is incredibly helpful, and I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next!
You’re super good at teaching man I really enjoy your personality and style of teaching. Thank you!
I 99% understood this pretty clearly. I don't feel lost in a sea of terms that I have no clue what they mean. You explained everything precisely and clearly to where I can feel confident enough to apply it and practice. Thank you so much, you're an amazing teacher!
Great video. Just got my first midi after dabbling on and off with music production for the last couple of years. Your videos and others have helped me understand the basics and help let my creativity flow. We all thank you.
i love you this is so helpful
This series is sooo helpful man 🙏🏽
This helps a lot! Great lesson! Thank you ☀️
this dude is top notch. it’s amazing how easily he breaks it all down. it’s all starting to make sense now. so glad to run across your channel!
Taetro is an amazing teacher. I love your pace and insight. Thank you.
You are the first who really explains music well on CZcams. Some people don’t explain all the details! You are doing great man and thank you!!
You have taught me more about music theory than my school teachers ever did and I am starting to get it now, while watching these.
You are such a good teacher man. I've learned so much, so fast in just 2 videos! My mind is literally blown. Thank you for this.
I've been making music as a hobby for a long time, just playing around with sounds etc, but lately I got the spark to really learn it more indepth as I bought Akai MPK mini to make some lofi-tunes. I've watched a lot of videos about this stuff, but your way of explaining is really compact, simple yet teaches so much. You make boring things enjoyable to learn. Thank you for these bro.
Thank you unia!!
bro i love you so much. i dug through SO many videos trying to learn some sort of starting level music theory but no one explains it as well as you do. super straightforward, super easy to understand, doesn't dive into the irrelevant stuff, just perfect. thank you!
Love this series! (And everything else you do too for that matter.)
Just wanted to say your videos are a BLESSING to me man. I really struggle to find the motivation to learn things and even more so when it's something I doing out of my own interests. I can say with confidence I'm genuinely learning from your vids, you present information so well and don't overload or bloat any of it which really helps so I am so thankful!
awesome video, incredibly helpful and well put together. thanks!
I love the way you explain things! I’ve learned so much so far and can’t wait to finish the series
thank you! let me know when you make it through!!
awesome man. thank you for making these for us.. going to practice a bit more before moving on to the next. i appreciate you!
So, I noticed the same thing happening in music theory that happens in vocal training videos. When I was learning to sing the instructors left out very important information that one needed to fully understand a given concept. I learned to find a few good instructors that when taken together gives me full knowledge. Why they do this I can only guess is so they can send people to buy their courses. I noticed the same thing happening in music theory. I watched a number of videos about chord progressions and they all left out important information Taetro just explained.
TY for actually trying to teach full concepts.
thank you so much. I’ve felt the same as you in my own music education so I’ve really tried to do a good job here.
Okay so I really never leave comments on youtube but I just wanted to say, after a few years of playing a few different instruments and MULTIPLE attempts to learn music theory, this was the first video where it "clicked" for me, and where I was able to actually understand the underlying mathematical sorta connection between all of these concepts (keys, chords, scales, major vs minor etc.). Where I thought I had an idea how to before but would often fail, this is the video that, after watching, I was able to sit down at my piano, choose a key, and play all the (major and minor) chords in that key. Thank you man.
PLEASE KEEP DOING THESE. I’m so bad at all this even this perfectly made and explained video confuses me. But more will help!!!! Thankyou for doing this
This was the best explanation of this! You maybe it so simple! Thank you so much
Thank you so much for this. From a very long time, I have been trying to learn this. But it gets too complex so quickly that I gave up every time. But you made it so clear and easy, that I am able to write random chord progressions and play them. It feels so good to finally learn some music. Hats off to you
From 23 mins, all I'm hearing is Mozart's Moonlight Sonata, absolutely blown away that complex music can be simplified in this way. As a DJ for 30 years, this has unlocked something huge in my mind. Thank you.
I was familiar with the information in this video already. But seeing your approach helped me put it together in a way I can use when making music. Thank you!
this was GREAT! Thank you!!! 🔥
I’ve been trying to create a new melody but I’ve been stuck. I totally forgot my music theory classes I took and this was a great refresher. Finally got that melody done 💗
Nice! Glad the video helped you get some music done
Love it,Thank you very much!!!!
It's amazing how well everything all fits together. I've been using the circle of 5ths for composition of chords, but now I understand where those chords come from and how they are formed. Everything just kind of clicks.
I was so stuck at chord progressions before watching this video, but you just broke this down so well. THANK YOU!
I am starting this series surprised. I've tried to sit and watch theory videos and much like it but either don't retain much of the info or cant figure out how to apply it, especially after extended time passes. I can tell i will remember this video for a long while or at least come back to it eventually. Thank you for translating Music Theory into bite-sized, manageable pieces. Keep doing what you're doing, thank you for this
Keep making these!
Thank you, this was really helpful
Thank you for this amazing value
This is crazy helpful thank you
Thank You for Offering your Service of Wisdom. Much appreciated 👍🏼
first time learning music theory and now i know a lot about music without owning a keyboard just drawing it on a piece of paper
well, your awesome!
thnx
Great teacher, the way you break it down so simply 🔥
I was in band from 5th grade up until 11th grade and this was never explained to me. I knew how to read the music and the notes but i never understood how it all worked together. Thank you so much for this series. I'm watching them all and basically relearning it all. I have always loved music and my dad was a DJ and I really wish I would have continued in my music education, but i didn't. I've decided as a 36 year old that i would like to pick it up again and make my own music. The electronic music genre is by far my favorite genre of music and it has been for 15 years now and it's only getting better. I want to learn this. Thank you!
I just love how you've presented the information here. For some reason I find music as a craft really challenging to get my head around (frankly, you're all wizards to me) and it was a huge comfort to see you comparing your visual art efforts, since that's an area I'm very familiar with. It's nice to see a different perspective that's actually relatable. I'm still confused, but it's still very early days. Your teaching style is delightful and enjoyable, thank you so much for being a light on this journey into sound 🥰🙏
You just made my day. Thank you so much!
As many others have already said, thank you so much for this. It’s like I finally connected all the dots together. I studied everything about keys and chords as theory but It was difficult for me to apply on a keybord. You made it easier, thank you 💫
Massive production 🎉
Thank u for making this video 🙏🏽
Seeing this again, but two years later. Still a gem.
Wow, this is so helpful, I can't wait to continue the music theory series. Thanks Taetro, you're an excellent teacher!
Thank you! Keep going with the series! I'm glad it's helping you make music
Thank you, great information ;D
