@@georginacat7667 It only takes second but her crystal clear authoritative delivery of instruction was admirable. Dr. Weaver also took seconds to acknowledge the EMT's performance and stress twice how important it was. She told him "your jaw thrust is the most important thing", whilst she was cutting into the guy's chest and inserting tubes, twice. An exceptional team leader. I am in awe.
I was wondering why a person in a paramedic uniform wouldn’t know how to do a jaw thrust?

Ok, I’m truly in awe about Steven making it. With SubQ Emphysema, accompanying his injuries, I thought surely he would die. Ann preformed a miracle. Also I wish the life squads in America would use more pain meds, it’s ridiculous how patients suffer.

We're all sweet! We need to keep our cool and dignity, even in distress and severe pain - it is our way. The most appalling thing for us, is to be seen as attention seeking, or make something all about us. Perhaps this is how we differ from other nations, but I'm glad I'm British and my politeness and respect for others is something that flows in my veins.
That is, until it's taken too far - and then we'll bite....

As far as Americans , I am German American, have just come home from a lengthy stay in hospital then rehab ( 30 days ) and how our wonderful nurses are so badly treated by patients is appalling . I heard more than my share of crap from American patients - it was embarrassing .
Yes . I DID " fire " 4 nurses who tried to manhandle me without thought or reasoning. Kicked them out of the room & they never returned . They would have undone my surgery . And they didn't care about the patients.
The other nurses instilled respect & trust .
Thank God for them !

Subcutaneous emphysema is one of the freakiest things to see and feel.
Wow, Dr. Weaver is an amazing diagnostician. No panic, just moving forward with lifesaving treatment. Wonderful to see a doctor with such skills. I saw a lot of surgical emphysema, the crackling feeling in the skin was weird.
As an ex Australian EMS technician, our services have come a long way to having intensive care Paramedics, and other Roadside Doctor interventions. A long way from when I first joined as an advanced first aid unit with swoop and scoop mentality. Some of these patients would hardly have survived back then !! Great service !! About time !!

We are very lucky in the U.K. to have such services like the NHS...never take this for granted
Everywhere in europe has it... The NHS underperforms compared to many of them despite a higher budget. It has huge institutional problems. The cancer survival rate for one is lower than comparable countries and systems.

@@bettysmith4527 I mean that's just not true. A lot of it depends on the state, for example California doesn't have RSI in its scope of practice so therefore they wouldn't perform an RSI like they did to the first patient. The doctor isn't just a standard doctor either, They're a trauma doctor and they're there to give the best chance of survival in life and death scenarios with their extra training including roadside surgeries like open heart surgery on knife wound victims. The UK and the US have different views on first responders. In the UK it's about bringing treatment to the patient as soon as possible and in the US it's about transporting the patient as soon as possible.
I have been in EMS for 25 years, I have yet to see one case where having a physician present would have made a difference. RSI does not mean a physician needs to be present, as a majority of patient's can be ventilated using BVM until arrival at the hospital, and my guess is that in California most hospitals are a very short drive away from most locations. If need be nasally intubate them, been there done that, and sadly it has become a lost skill! Physicians DELAY transport from what I have seen from these videos because they want to sit on scene and "fix" everything. The goal should be reverse any immediate life threats that can be reversed in the field, that includes giving blood if needed (physician not needed), needle decompress if they have a tension pneumothorax (physician not needed), and control their airway (physician not needed) and go to the hospital because they need an OR, not someone doing ultrasound on a sidewalk to see if they are bleeding!! @@azzifyy5988

@@kingy002 yeah, that's how you know your truely in trouble when the paramedics have furrowed brows and having to ask the trauma doctor what's going on because they havent seen this before. So amazing how calm and focused everyone stays even when it's clear they're either out of their depth rapidly running out of options.
I was an ER/A&E Nurse for twenty years and enjoy watching how prehospital care is evolving since my time. I retired ten years ago and marvel at the changes and advances in such a relatively short time. I was particularly impressed with REBOA, transfusing blood on scene, the liberal use of potent analgesics, on scene heads scan (for bleeds) and especially how they all communicate so well with the patient. Reassuring the patient and relatives is such an important part of emergency care integral to the whole process. What a really professional and efficient team all round. I hope I never need their services but would be very reassured if any of them turned up.
It has been a while for me also. I am continually amazed at procedures and machines now!! We didn't have mammogram, MRI, or CAT machines when I started!!!

@@krashd I am unfortunately one of those people who owes my life to the staff at High Wycombe General Hospital A+E department many years ago. Thank you does not really cover it.. I tried to arrive there a few times to say thanks in person but started experiencing panic attacks and flashbacks so turned away and went home.. It doesn't mean I am any less grateful of course.

My family has had need of an above-average amount of care in ER, ICU & Dialysis units for over 8 years. I've had RA and Fibro since I was 20 and at age 19 my daughter developed a rare form of vasculitis that attacked her blood vessels, kidneys & brain. Nurses are the lifeblood of any health care setting. My appreciation for nurses knows no bounds.

As a Retired Registered Nurse in Canada I think having Trauma Surgeons mobile to get on Scene is phenomenal. It absolutely increases the chances of Patient Survival. Hahah no sorry, paramedic is so hard to get into only has yearly intakes at uni (not 2 like every other course) & very limited and you’re not guaranteed a job. I was shocked to know my Nandos co worker graduated a 4 year paramedicine degree and couldn’t find a job for a year or 2 But thanks anyway! :)
The US doesn’t have this. How many lives could be saved if Hospitals sent out Trauma Physicians to critical patients.

Everyone saying Jasmine is putting it on, she really probably had a burst ovarian cyst. I had one and collapsed in A&E car park in unbelievable pain. I was wheeled in screaming and they knocked me out with morphine eventually. They couldn’t find anything except the blood in the abdomen, but to the doctors it was an absolute mystery for at least 18 hours. Don’t judge her. I was in pain for months after this and it looked so similar to what was happening here with her.
She more than likely has " Endometriosis" !! It takes on average 8 years to be diagnosed by laparoscopic surgery, which is the only way to diagnose it. I hope she has found a k more knowledgeable doctor to figure out whats really going on.

Endometriosis and ovarian cysts feel similar. A ruptured cyst is the worst.

I have a cyst but i never felt anything.in fact i was shocked i had it even.its not that big though.only 8cm.or Some ppl feel and some don't feel anything is it ? Also i have had bleeding for few months which me have low blood now.:( my result will be out on 10 July.had a sample from the womb taken.

When I see shows like this, I immediately think about one of my cousins who was killed in Vietnam in a motorcycle crash and he was one of the most caring person I've had ever had in my life and I do actually miss talking to him over the phone!

I didn't even know it was possible to get hit by a motorcycle so badly that you have air leaking into all parts of your body. You learn something new every day I suppose.
Did I get it right that the motorcyclist that hit Stephen was doing a wheelie with a passenger?! That poor guy was just walking minding his own business and nearly died, if not for Dr. Anne. Absolute miracle worker and so calm and professional ❤
I feel so sorry for the man who was hit by a bike by someone doing something stupid like the wheelie that was done to only please them selves but caused that man to be hurt and them selves
These people deserve to be called angel's or saints if it wasn't for Bradford ambulance service 💖 my husband would not have ad an extra 3 yrs with his kids and me even though he suffered serious brain injuries and died in 2017 3 yrs after due to the injuries but these people gave us 3 extra yrs thank you 💖 for all yous do angel's in the winds people don't realise what they are thank you May god 🙏 always 💞 be with them amazing people each and every one of them 😉
WOW! Seeing Steven (Stephen?) After accident vs after treatment and time to heal really shows how 'inflated' he was. That's incredible. Excellent work by everyone! I could only hope to get a fraction of the care here in the US..... Chances are Insurance would say nay, not worth it, leave him be and hope for the best, or crippling medical bills where it wouldn't have been worth it to be saved.

Hazel Eyes I’m double jointed so all my joints dislocate really easy. Had to fix the damage to my knee, then my appendix burst, then exploratory abdom surgery due to cyst burst, all in about a 8 year period!

I like learning about the differences between the medical services of different countries. The Brits sure do seem to take charge of a scene! I worked for a company that manufactures many of the medical helicopters, so seeing them put to use is nice too.

We are having the same issues here in the US. After COVID, we seem to have worn out our docs. I can’t even change from one doctor to another, nor can I get any specialist care unless it’s truly an emergency.😖

He was a paramedic. Whilst he will know how to do a jaw thrust, she was so wondered about this patient I can only assume she really wanted to reiterate the importance of a good jaw thrust.
That gave me pause, too, and then she just did it!! WOW!!

I can’t believe that young girl is still waiting on a diagnosis and appointment with a gynecologist after 2 months! We complain about the healthcare system here in the United States, but if this happened here, say on a Friday, she likely would have had an appointment on Monday or Tuesday. I hope she got things resolved.
