Because when MLBB was launched in 2016 its target market was not in China, its target was on Overseas like SEA. MLBB became only popular in China because its fame skyrocketed because of the International Tournament like M Series. And besides why would Chinese compete on MLBB when the price pool can't even compare to other behemoth MOBA like Dota and LOL. Remember MLBB was only recognized by China because its starting to grow
