Wow, you're really great at squeezing the most out of these synthesizers! Such a beautiful sounds you make there! Cherry Audio should hire you to create patches and do promotional video's for their great products.

Shockingly good sound on this one. Only a few people making convincing synth plugins. Softube, some Native Instruments, Arturia, some Roland (SH2 in particular).

Thanks for diving into this. Overall, I really like what Cherry Audio are creating. And whilst I’m sure many people will love this - it sounds a little washed out to me, except for a few of the sounds. A 24db filter would’ve been nice. And dialling back the FX and concentrating on the analogue style oscillators will hopefully coax a few JP-8000 virtual analogue inspired patches.

My take is this is an excellent value. For the price of an Omnisphere library, you get a full modeled analog synth. I was interested for the effects, which sold separately would cost almost as much as the full synth. Cherry Audio provides great value. I have the Jupiter 4 and GX-80 and both are interesting synths, the GX-80 is really terrific. I will add this to my Cherry Audio arsenal. Excellent intro to this beast of a synth. sub.

Nice sound! Although I know nothing about those knobs.. will I survive through just using presets? Buying this bec of @15:17 & 18:18 tone 😆 love that!

I was just thinking-- and this is of course specific to many other channels-- how it seems to make limited sense to have a small video square in a corner of the lecturer talking about the software. It might even be a touch distracting and also limit the size of the software that could occupy more of the screen real estate.
Amarula is a nice and occasionally enjoyed cream liqueur, incidentally, made from the marula tree's fruit... It is also called the elephant tree which I just found out a few seconds ago, thanks to a quick lookup and to our fine host (with appropriate logo).
    Cheers, and happy composing.

Nice overview Nate. The pads on this thing sound huge. After listening to it I wonder if the name is a nod to Tangerine Dream?

    Nice rich classic tones.
A bit surprising at the Global VCF and VCA sections.
I would have thought that on a 'Dream Synth' they'd be per Osc ...
I'll prolly still grab it though 🙄

      exactly!

The facility for crossfading between oscillator pairs achieves much of what I'd use individual filters for anyway ...

Seems like a ‘period’ decision. As in, how it would have been done in the 80s. Expensive to make hardware like that in the 80s. In order to do so, they’d literally have doubled the amount of filter chips needed. So that design decision for this plugin may be for 80s flavor. It’s still plenty flexible... and if you want separate control, make another track and layer it.

This dreamsynth sends my CPU straight to dreamland. That is if your dreams are made of lag, crackling and headaches. But it do sound nice when it's not lagging.

Does the filter self-oscillate? I'm guessing not since its a 12dB/oct rather than 24 but I'd like to be wrong.

    • @MarulaMusic
      @MarulaMusic  Před 2 lety +1

Nope, it doesn't... its essentially an Oberheim SEM 2-pole. Would've liked a 24db option too but it does kinda suit the sound they're going for with this. That thinner 12db filter is pretty typical on a lot of the classic digital keyboard of the 80s.

    10:58 very Stranger Things-ish!

I guess if I cared this much about fine tuned modulation programming, I wouldn’t use a plug-in.
