Borborbor has developed past this stage... I advice my brethren to put in their best in whatever they do. Its better to pay more money for quality than settle for low quality work. poor sound engineering, the drums sound like gallons with water in them.... good songs though.... i know there are better sound engineers in Ghana.
Isaac, I think you're right. The technical quality leaves a lot to be desired. It's a bit of an old cd though. But the local boys don't care so much for quality of production. They can't pay for long studio time and take whatever comes. Personally, I don't think I like the songs much. Talent for composition is scanty. THERE ARE NO NEW BORBORBOR SONGS. All of them re-cycle the old well-known tunes. These classics are important but we want new songs too that will also become classics of the future...
Yes, the trumpeting is woeful indeed. They all use the same old melodies in the trumpeting. No creativity because little talent. Why can't borborbor trumpeters attempt the rich improvisations we hear in jazz sax and trumpet solos? Why must they always follow the same patterns? I think many of them need some help from trained musicians at times. Those of us crazy about borborbor really want to see it taken to higher heights. Nobody plays like Nuatro anymore and there is nothing wrong with that. Nuatro's time of fast paced drumming (in the end it was also becoming monotonous) is past but where are the worthy successors?
Well, maybe in future when we are settled home, we shall put our expertise to bear on bettering this paticular ensemble. But I think the part 2 is a massive improvement of the 1st one. I love the part 2

That's on point my brother.... the trumpeting is woefully absurd. No creativity.. and drum patterns very predictable and non inspiring.
I like the quality and creativity in "Mawu lor wo" by Novinyo borborbor band , Kpando. I think they did a good job.
