Almost all the science fiction i read as a kid in the early fifties has now come true, and more than i had ever dreamed of. I am 75, but still write it and still dream of so much more.

Zapata flyboard air tops the list, it's lightweight, very comfortable and easy control, plus high speed (100 mph!)
I've read that the Chief Executive of one of the manufacturers mentioned in this video believes that it won't get long before jetpacks will be available for everyday transport. Innovations are closer than we think!

Flyboard Air is the fastest and most manœuvrable, and you still have one hand free. Control and Landing are very precise.
The Jet Engine Pack's are nothing compared to the original Jet Pack which was, and still is stunning to see (albeit very briefly - around 15 seconds!) with an amazing flight envelope.
Strapping on model jet engines isn't quite the same thing, though endurance is increased to around 10 minutes, and some are relatively small in size, weight and mass.
What you call the original jetpack is actually a misnomer and was the bell labs rocket belt before the Army called it a jetpack and liked that term better.
It is not that impressive, using hot Gas made from hydrogenperoxide for 15 to 33 seconds of flight.
Bell labs also made a real jet pack using small custom made jet engines similar to the one seen later in the video in New York but theirs only flew for about three minutes not the ten minutes that can be achieved today. Plus in five years time, who knows what may be possible.

flyboard is the hardest to learn who wants a 75 lb bag of fuel on there but and it complicated with 5 mini turbines
Yvess Rossi is THE best.....and FAA approved. He can fly in formation with the biggest jet airliner in the sky.

I like the fly board the most. They are all cool, but I think the small turbines trump having a chemical reaction on your back. The last machine is a bit clunky, but would be a great way to beat traffic!
the cost of those things is not real, the turbiones are in the range of 5000 to 8000 us each, times the number wich can be from 4 to 6. and the control imu is not that expensive either. so the rest is r and d.

Looking at this made me realize how primitive our tech is. Unless we take a radical direction in search of a different engine and different type of fuel, we will be following ideas of the past and we will never advance. We have built our tech based on the discoveries of the past, without even taking a different and new approach. We still have the same light bulb of more than 100 years ago; we still have the same airplane of many years ago... we are stuck on old knowledge.
Nothing wrong with old knowledge.
But we have new light bulbs (LED) and we continue to make great advances in all area's.
Sometimes, one has to start with the foundation of the past and understand it, to fully master a totally new concept.
Actually i beg to differ....the tech is available..But just for a few that does not want to share with the rest of humanity...........................
Knowledge trap... intellectual revolution is required...
New fuel or non fuel based engine...
Atomic reactors in a nut shell...something need to be thought of....new dimension...

The jet engine jet packs would be safer, look better and last like ten times the duration as the old chemical jet packs.
I think the fly board is the way to go. The flight can be controlled using feet. The hands are free and can hold groceries for husband with fussy wife.
the 1st one looks exactly like the one used on the old b+w lost in space tv series.
I would like to see a guy using one of these jet packs with a specially designed parachute jump out of a helicopter and hover next to it until the fuel runs out and then land using the parachute. In the converse, I'd like to see a guy skydive out of an airplane with a jet pack in reserve using only the parachute until he is high enough to safely disconnect the parachute and land using the jet pack. Has this ever been attempted? Is anybody crazy enough to even think about this besides me?
i could see some one taking the zapada board and doing a heist and get away on one of those, 93 mph , zoom gone in a flash, with a refuel in back pack 150 miles away from bank , gone baby gone
