      @@chrismarple hahah, thanks for the reply. This is the basis of where I get this: to win a Super Bowl, you need to be able to beat every type of team that shows up in the playoffs. And, there's always a team who can put pressure on the QB. So much for the WRs who are one dimensional and need tons of time for their plays to develop. Eventually, the Ravens or the Giants will show up and wreck everything. Enter Julian Edelman: double and even triple teamed all the time, and no one could stop him from getting open. I get that watching highlights of players like Moss and Julio Jones are way more impressive than watching Edelman standing by himself in a open space of grass and catching a ball thrown to his chest - but the fact that he's always standing there in open space is because he could beat any double or triple team and get open like that in like 2 seconds. I'd take him over Moss any day. And, I feel his trophies support me on that.
      (And, that's not even getting into how tough he was or what a leader he was. Come on, ask Raiders fans about Moss. How somehow who mailed in his own career for multiple seasons because of being disgruntled gets talked about in the same class as the likes of Jerry Rice is the mind blowing part to me.)

    You need slot receivers like Wayne Chrebet, Julien Edelman, Cole Beasley, Randall Cobb, etc. It can't always be just lobbying the ball up to Calvin Johnson, Randy Moss, Andre Johnson, Andre Johnson, etc. An elite corner or safety can high point against those guys. What you can't do is make up ground on a smaller receiver with lateral quickness who can unpredictably change direction. The only thing that stops a slot receiver like Edelman from becoming the alpha on the team and getting 1500+ yards every year is league politics.

    • @jamesbrown646
      @jamesbrown646 Před rokem +18

      What “league politics”? Teams want to win games and put butts in seats. They’re not gonna let “politics” stop that. Julian Edelman followed in Wes Welker's footsteps phenomenally. Wes Welker was still better than Edelman, especially when Welker played with Tom in New England. He took so many crazy hits, it was amazing how he always got back up. He missed what, only 3 games when he was with the Patriots? In just 6 years with the Patriots, Welker had 672 receptions and 925 targets (73%), compared to Edelman's 11 years with 620 receptions and 940 targets (66%). Post Season was even better. Still, Welker had 0 Super Bowl rings compared to Welker's 3, and Welker was Super Bowl LIII MVP with an incredible performance. Both are top-notch slot receivers in the Patriots Tom Brady era.

    Julian Edleman had his moments but, calling him an elite WR is a bit far fetched. He’s never made AP, never elected to a pro bowl, he only has 3 seasons where he recorded 1k yards, only 2 seasons where he caught 100 or more passes, and his career high for TD receptions in a season is 7, and he also had 3 seasons where he didn’t catch a TD at all. He has 6822 rec yards, 620 and 36 TD career wise. TY Hilton, Demaryius Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders, AJ green etc… all have better numbers than Edleman and none of the other guys I mentioned aren’t considered elite. Edleman was only good because of Brady and coach Bel. He’s a role player, nothing more.
