This is what I was always taught- leave a space better than you found it! It has always been in the back of my mind, and probably why people appreciate my company! đ
We were raised in the military & Catholic, I hated when we would go to peoples house with âkidsâ we would have to clean up their entire room before we left even if it was their disaster!!!
My mom always told me, âbe polite and leave no trace of yourself behindâ, when I would spend the night at a friendâs house. So I did just that, I washed dishes, cleaned the bathroom and even took the sheets off the bed and took them to the laundry room. My friendâs momâs were floored and would tell my mom I was invited back whenever I wanted to come. I was very appt of my momâs advice, and low key proud of myself! LOL
Nice story!! I'm not sure if I know the correct definition of floored, I've never looked it up, but at almost 28, where I'm from that means really angry.
Back in 1973 my friend and I picked up a hitch-hiker and drove with him from Nevada to southern California. It was lucky because when we got to my house my brother was having a bad trip and the hitch-hiker guided him through the experience. He stayed at our place for one night, then made his way to wherever he was going and left his Stetson hat for me. đ P.S. Isn't this the most Boomer comment ever? đ
That's actually a beautiful story †I've been guided and have guided through trips, good and bad & for him to be there with your brother sounds like a wonderful cooperative incidents. Magic đ
In the early 90s I would meet People working and invite them to stay at my home for free since they were traveling and from out of town or lived in Europe and go to eat and this is how many people survive and traveled. Just not done today.
I thought that was just me, I got dishes in the sink, bedroom needs to be done better, need to sweep my floor. I will go to my Cuzins later and clean her house like it's nothing. Come back to my apt and just SMH!!!đźđź
My friend and I hitchhiked from Canada to Mexico; on the way back home, a doctor who lived in San Francisco, picked us up and took us home for supper. We had warm showers and slept overnight with his adorable family. The doctor and his wife had trained in Canada đšđŠ
First they clean your house so they can look through all your stuff without it being suspicious. Then they lure you out of the house so they can steal everything
Sounds like the old scam where the car gets opened up and a note left inside the car. The note reads sonething like a couple had a medical emergency and needed to get the pregnant wife to the hospital. The note goes on to say they had a take the car and they had a baby girl. They are extremely sorry for doing that but they want to make up for the inconvenience. They attach two movie tickets or a prepaid voucher at a resturant that night. The householder goes to dinner or movie to find their house has been cleaned out.
We packed 2 hitchhikers into our full car and brought them home for the weekend. We told them they could camp in the yard but then told them to enjoy the livingroom because it was cold out. We let them do laundry and take a hot shower, and they made us really good blueberry pancakes. We never saw them again after that. There was another time we took 2 guys and a dog to the next exit to a camp ground. The next year I was 3 hrs away in the southern part of our state and saw them at a gas station. I was a passenger with friends or else I would have offered them another ride.
Amen, angels will check on a space to see the environment and judge it by the hospitality and friendliness of the location. đ This is why I always say, just a few Christians can save an entire evil nation đ đ đ
To be fair, he wasnât a complete stranger . She met his brother first at the Olympics, & set them up . They talked over the phone & online because they were in two different states . So sheâs talking about how they met for the first time in person . She found out that he didnât have a room & was planning on sleeping in his car, so her & her roommate offered to let them sleep at their apartment . Her & her roommate slept in the same room & locked the door âjust in caseâ, & when they woke up they found out that he & his friend has cleaned up their entire apartment . & now thatâs her husband of several years & they have kids so it worked out for them, def a lil sketchy at first though
You never know. I grew up with my parents letting a never ending stream of people stay in our house temporarily while they were short term homeless. They have since moved on to everything from prison to CEO of a solar panel company and a millionaire.
@@californiapattycakes4417 yeah pretty much all of them. Even the one in prison used to send me one or two dollars for good grades FROM PRISON when my parents would tell him how I was doing over the phone. After he got out, since he had stayed with us before we let him use us as a halfway house and he's got himself a trailer and is off heroin now. The CEO actually met up with me while I was on study abroad to check in and took me for a very expensive night on the town with his wife.
