- Get a closer look at our factories located right here in America and the hardworking men and women behind the scenes.
Lately we’ve noticed a lot more interest in where our 127-year old family-owned business is based and where we make our products. We think that’s a good thing, because it’s an important discussion. We take great pride in what we do, so it’s also important to us that our customers have the right information about us. We’re not going to go on and on about decades of policy decisions, business challenges, competition, etc. So, if you’re so inclined to read on, the following are details on how, in spite of decades of hurdles put in front of us, we remain as committed to the American worker as our Founder, Hamilton Carhartt was.
For starters, while we have sewing facilities around the globe, we're proud that we have and always will make products here in the U.S.A. As a matter of fact, over the past 15 years our facilities in Kentucky and Tennessee have made more than 80 million garments and accessories in the U.S. Which is why we continue to make more rugged workwear here than anyone else. Many of these items are our core, tried and true Carhartts that millions of hard working Americans depend on - from the Lineman who keep the lights on, to the Farmer who grows our food. Our 1000 proudly unionized workers take pride in this work and stand behind every stitch. Would we like to surpass our own U.S. production benchmarks? You bet. But even when we have an opportunity to increase our U.S. production, sometimes open sewing operator positions go unfilled. And yet we forge ahead, every day. It’s what we do.
But what about those tags you see with names of other Countries on them? The best example we can offer is the popularity of “sweat wicking” performance apparel made by sporting goods brands that many American workers already wear as a base layer. You might even be wearing one right now. Carhartt partnered with an American company called Cocona (Colorado) who have developed a superior body-temp regulating, quick-dry, odor-fighting garment technology. Over the past few years we’ve integrated their 37.5® Technology into select base layers and t-shirts - we call it Force Extremes. To compete with the big sporting goods apparel makers who manufacture these types of garments primarily oversees, we also assemble these garments in certified offshore sewing facilities. For these types of garments, we offer a choice to you as a consumer - buy a performance base layer from a company that doesn’t make anything here, or from us, a company that still makes many of its core items in the U.S.
We were founded in Detroit in 1889. Since then, our headquarters has moved just 10 miles. For 127 years, the family business has been run here, the apparel has been designed here, and members of the Carhartt family continue to work here. But where we’re based and where we manufacture our garments is just one part of the equation. Who we source from is also important. For example, in 2015 alone we purchased the following from our U.S. suppliers: enough fabric from Mt. Vernon Mills (Georgia) equating to 19.5 million pounds of cotton; 32 million buttons, 2 million rivets, and 43.3 million snaps from YKK Snap USA (Kentucky); 14 million sliders and 6.2 million yards of zipper chain from YKK Snap USA (Georgia); 5 million knit cuffs, 1 million+ knit bands, and 130,000 knit collars from Straus Knitting Mills (Minnesota); 990,000 drawcords from Franklin Braid Manufacturing (Virginia); 320,000 drawcords from Green Mountain Knitting (Vermont); 1.1 million+ drawcords from Hope Global (Rhode Island). We don’t have a reportable figure on the number of U.S. jobs we indirectly support, but we know that these great partners work as hard as we do to help Americans make a life here.
You have many choices as a consumer - and we wouldn’t have it any other way. You can purchase from the companies who copy our styles, yet offshore 100% of their goods. You can purchase from smaller companies who make 100% of their goods here, but may not have the assortment you need. Either way, on behalf of our more than 2000 U.S.-based employees, we hope you consider Carhartt. And if you don’t, we thank you for your interest in our ability to remain competitive and contribute to our Nation's economy.

I live in a town where a Carhartt manufacturing plant is located. It provides good jobs with good wages for our community. It is one of the few manufacturers in our community. My dad worked there for awhile and my mother did as well. I know several of the people in this video and they are all good citizens of the community.
If they are still making things there please share what and where we can buy it.
im carhartt fan since I was a kid but I have question some of the carhartt clothing here in nyc aren’t made here like for example I seen a vest made in Mexico and I got another one this year sayin made in Jordan
When these products are made with Hemp grown in the US then I jump for joy!
In the meantime ill enjoy my carhart products.
The pants with double fronts saved my leg from a saw blade!
I stand by this Co and cheer the made in USA
Vo

Thats credibility right there.
I bought my Carhartt jacket after viewing this video. I was so proud of an American company producing such a great American product. When I received my jacket in the mail and opened it the first thing I noticed was the good quality of the jacket. The second thing I noticed was the tag that said made in Mexico with American fabric, well then I am only 50% percent disappointed. I was really excited about Carhartt being 100% American made and yet I am disappointed that a big business went for the cheaper labor option. Americans will pay more for American products Carhartt, just so you know.
I 100% agree with you
I really wish a company would just stay here, just make it here
@@thekeeper5588 I've been looking for a Made in America jacket and overalls for years now. Mine are ancient and falling apart, but I want to buy American.
Still looking. Gave up and bought some Carhartt bibs. Made in Nicaragua. I don't expect them to last as long, so I'm still looking for Made in USA Carhartt double bibs, double pants and a new jacket to replace mine. It is so worn it isn't really presentable anymore - even out here.
You have to actively hunt out the USA made stuff. It’s honestly a rabbit hole not easy to pick out

Carhartt thanks for opening local stores I love it. Carhartt at work Carhartt bucks man who else does this!! no one only Carhartt.
Carhartt , Excellent👍👌
I want your products in India. 🇮🇳 Hope you start a distribution channel here.
I do wish all your products were made in the USA, the jacket I went to get was made in Mexico. Thanks for supporting the Helmets to Hardhats program though.
Carhartt, thanks for the info. Love your products and have some for over 2 decades in heavy industry. America everyday! Keep it up!
Hi Carhartt, any chance if I could work in one of your factories?
I love my Imported from Detroit Edition Carhartt Jacket. Made in the USA on the tag!
Proud to carry the Made in USA Carhartt!
I work for a American grain company that's owned by the Japanese. very very disappointing. but carhartt is the uniform worn by all here. blue collar working class for America. thanks carhartt.bring it all back home!!!
As a Carharrt customer for over 25 years most of my stuff is made in the USA because I hunt for it. I have workwear from the 1950's-- today and I can tell you that back in the 50's it was ALL made here not 5%.They didn't make fancy commercials Just Nice hangtags explaining the QUALITY of the garment and the loyalty to UNION men! Carport really needs to stop the bullshit and get back to making EVERYTHING here!
That will never happen, especially now that they went mainstream. It is only going to go even more downhill than it already has.
@@robg836 Not being able to import or export anything when they want because of a shortage of shipping containers, people to unload them, and truckers to haul them could make them change their minds.
The only new Carhartt I have was made in Kentucky. I have 3 other jackets from them plus coveralls and bibs. All of which is over 50 years old, one of the jackets was made in the 30s.
I have a pair of bibs that are over 40 years old, they've definitely seen better days but they're I guess what kids would call "cool" today tattered and torn the old fashioned way not the store bought way.
I seek made in USA period
People have to realize that not everything can be made in USA (at this point in time), even though we all want it. We as Americans have to be be willing to support lines like this from companies like Carhartt in order to see these companies grow their USA made lines. It will not happen overnight. Thank you Carhartt for taking steps in the right direction. I fully support your efforts to bring what you can back to America, I know you guys want to see it as much as we do!
This video brings a tear to my eye. My wife works for Carhartt and it's the only clothes I wear. I'm proud to support the company and proud my family is a part of it. Wish more companies would follow suit.
Im here to say Carhartt clothing is the best hard working clothing on the USA market today, after wearing them for almost 30years.
U will never go wrong with them on your side.... Bob in Iowa
As a Canadian Electrician, I will not buy Carhartt products that are made in Haiti or Bangladesh without knowing how.
I want my things to be made by someone treated fairly who takes pride in their work. Exactly like how I want to do my work.
Daniel Lewis that assumption is kinda racist though.
@@tomorrowcomestoday1621 sure is but there's a reason they are hiring in foreign countries and that's cheap labor
@@tomorrowcomestoday1621 Who cares!
When I pay good money, that I worked hard for here, I want to spend money for products made here so another person here can earn a decent paycheck.
I don’t see that statement as racist - “America” isn’t a race - it’s a country, you knob!
@@tomorrowcomestoday1621 Foreign countries without labor laws aren't races.
So proud that you're still a MADE IN AMERICA company. Even more proud that you have a base in KY!
My Carhartt jacket was made in Mexico.
...as are my Carhartt overalls, lol
carhartt made in the usa by mexican workers ..lol
😆 its most likely going to outlast USA made carhartt. Mine the inside lining and the usa made is starting to come undone. Will be buying DULUTH TRADE coat. Not made in the usa but its a better coat.....sure of it.

With love from the UK!
carhartt is one of my favorite marks i am for portugal, thanks you again!
As long as you keep making them in the USA I will keep buying, Thanks for thinking of the American working families. Unlike other sell outs like IRWIN TOOL who ruined the good ol Vise Grip.
Thank The Lord for Carhartt! Best workwear in this great country!
If Carhartt made everything in the USA their sales would skyrocket. People crave made in the USA now.
I am a retired US Marine and was trying to find a good work boot to use while on the job with my local PD. I was leaning towards Carhartt, but after this video, I purchased the Carhartt Rugged Flex W/P 6". All of their products may not be made in the USA, but since their plants are here, I'm in! If the boots perform as good as they appear, you'll have a loyal customer! I also bought a pair of their work gloves. Go America Carhartt...
Joey Seidell you should try Chippewas, fantastic boots (they're American made models).
This video should have 200,000,000 views not 108,000. I have forwarded it to every patriot of the "American way of life" in my email address book. I will promote your cause and advertising campaign in every way I can think of. Even though I do not own any Carhartt products, I applaud your efforts and thank you for staying in America as much as you could.
Thank you! I will support your company because some of your products are still made in America, as opposed to other companies that make NONE of their products here. I love my new Made in the U.S.A. Carhartt Active Jacket!
Please check our full line of products that are Made in the USA that has grown from a few of our most iconic garments to over 70 items in less than a year. If we continue to receive the support of our hardworking customers, we will continue to grow it.
❤ Thank you, Carhart.
in th last 6 months ive bought a ton more stuff from carhartt , and still none is made in the usa super proud!
Im glad there made in the USA supporting American workers. Buy American products at stores and on line American Made.
The people in Irvine, Kentucky are proud to call Carhartt our partner and have been proud for decades. Our many residents who have worked for Carhartt over the years have done so proudly, and Carhartt has been responsible for putting food on the table for many families. In the global economy, the pressure to move all operations overseas is great, and we appreciate the folks who have made the commitment to keep our people working. Thanks, Carhartt! We have your back!
Hi folks I am Mac from Italy... I ain’t gonna lie, I have never own no CARHARTT product in my whole life lol but my friends been telling me about this product... so I tried out, fortunately just ordered the Michigan Chore Coat in Hamilton Brown but it says made in Mexico, while my beanie hat says made in USA. And I’m looking forward buying more of this product! idc what nobody says! These are very amazing products and I love the brand CARHARTT. A true company looking out for not only workers but players too.
It is awesome that Carhartt still makes many of their products in the US and they are the best work clothes I have ever owned. I would say that if Carhartt made a wider range of their products in the US I would definitely spend more at their store and less at competitors. When it comes down to it I am willing to spend more for a pair of Carhartt's made in the US but when I am left to choose between two foreign made garments the money typically goes to the cheaper of the two. If more of their things were made here, my whole wardrobe would be Carhartt. But again I recognize the challenges of the international marketplace and commend Carhartt for at least trying to protect well paid American workers.
Hello kiddos. I am sooooooo excited. A family came to our garage sale today specifically for homesteading equipment and supplies. We got into a dialogue about CZcams videos and of course they are on your subscriber list. I recall they said they are moving towards Idaho. if she reads this post, Hello Monica. BTW can you see the impact you have on connecting people with people? You two have influenced many lives already.
Hello 👋 how are you doing today?
Love my Made in the USA Carhartt Jacket!
Please continue making products in the USA. I know it's not economical to produce 100% of your products in the USA. I'd gladly pay $25-30 for a t-shirt made in the usa rather than $15 from another country.
I went to Murdoch's last week to buy some new Carhartt Carpenter pants for work and they said "made in mexico" it broke my heart. I bought Dickies for less money.
Let me know when I can buy American made Carhartt pants again and I'll buy them.
Go to "all American clothing.com" to find carhartt pants and clothing all made in America. Type all American clothing as one word. Also americans working.com
Thanks
Wranglers makes jeans made in USA just be prepared to pay $120-$225 for a pair
Carhartt makes like 2 or 3 garments in the US. Everything else is Mexico or China. There is only one manufacturer that I know of that is 100% made in the USA, National Safety Apparel. NSA. Great stuff, our company went 100% American Made last year and this is who we bought from.
oh i love that everything carhartt makes in made right here in the usa!
Deserving of being seen on National TV.. Made in America gets my attention every time!!
I for one dont believe that all if their. products cant be made totally in the USA.
Its up to Carhartt to invest in the factories and equipment needed to be able to honestly say, 100% made in the USA. That should be an obtainable goal for them to reach in a short amount of time.
I do appreciate their efforts and i will continue to support them through my purchases.Made in the USA matters to me and i do check the tags. The job you save by purchasing US products ,may be your own or a family members.
im happy to see some items still made in the USA but "some" doesnt cut it,
when i go on your website, click on USA made, I see only a few jackets and mostly socks made here in the states, i'd like to see more, much more made here
I have always liked and wanted a Carhartt jacket. I recently purchased my first last December. I love it. Since then ,I have purchased 2 more. I also purchased a Carhartt luchbag that has lasted atleast a year so far and I love it .then I found out you sell car seat covers, so I bought a pair for my truck. I loved those so much that I bought my father a set for his truck. He loves them too. They're top quality. I am a proud American blue collar man and try to buy American as much as possible, so when I found out some of these products were made over seas,I was a lil disappointed. After watching this ,I feel alot better, thanks for explaining how you're keeping Americans working, not only at your company, but at companies you outsource from aswell!
I'm a contractor for the railroad and every day, sun, rain, or snow I'm wearing carhartt and proud of it
Beautiful story 🇺🇸
Thumbs up for this! This is what it is all about! I'm sure getting one of those made in the USA jackets. A really thick Carhartt T-shirts made in the USA would be a DREAM for me also!! Keep on going to the right direction! You got my support!
You shouldn't have a made in America line, you should have everything made in America!!!
Quality product. I'm sold!
i love your product. very durable and well made. i love quality and know ot comes with a price. and being made here, i know im helping our economy. Thanks guys!!
Great Quality , Made In USA . Buy it , and taste the difference...
People, some of their product is made in the US , some is not. Nowhere do they say "everything is made in the US". Considering the global economy, it's fantastic that they make anything in the US. A US made Detroit jacket for $79.00, is an amazing value for a domestically page jacket of that quality. Kudos to Carhartt!
Big respect to Carhatt🙏🏼🇺🇸
Volcom family here
BIG RESPECT Carhartt🖤
God Bless you all..I am in Italy in a mental Institution with no credit card.. I wished I could order some clothes from America the Great!!!
GOD BLESS YOU GUYS, i just bought my first jacket, having no idea nor sense of the brand, but i'll be totally honest, is the most beautiful, strong and best well made jacket i've had so far. I am 20, and i am sure i'll be buying more of this jackets and workgear for me and my future son.

im reading all the comments here and they seem to be negative, but my detroit jacket that ive just purchased is made in america in all the tags that im reading. Thanks Carhartt for producing a quality product, super happy with it and hope i can collaborate one day. Carhartt Forever.
i legitimately teared up at this
In europe, a lot of Carhartt clothe are make in Germany. Very good quality, i love Carhartt !!
I just bought a pair of Wellington boots by carhartt and I'll tell you what. I've had many pairs from redwings to wolverines and I'm here to tell you that these are some DAMN GOOD BOOTS! now I been wearing your products for years and the quality is good. No matter if it's Mexican made or whatever I'm not really worried about it as long as it stands up to what I dish out at work so I can feed my family. I work outdoors and live in Alabama where it's hot and humid in summer and cold in winter and
The tag on my Carhartt pants says: MADE IN VIETNAM!!!???
***** its not "total" b.s. just like a redwing boots you can buy the cheaper foreign products, but if you want the good stuff there's american made. its harder to find, to be sure.
***** It's not total BS. Even in the video, it says some of the stuff is made offshore. They never stopped making stuff in the US www.carhartt.com/category/carhartt-collections-made-in-the-usa?cid=HOME-TOUTPrimary-GEAR-MadeInTheUSA-20141007-ALLVisitors-hp_newF14_0814

I have same carhartt jacket since 2005 ,best work jackets ever ,I love everything made in USA
Bravo!
Don't much need a jacket since moving to Arizona, but when in Chicago and doing framing and working outside a lot... my Carhartt jacket and hoodies were the best stuff I ever had - always lasted longer than anything else I had. When I'm ever in the need I already know where to look.
Thanks Carhartt... love the video too.

I live in Canada and it's hard to find a product line that's 'Made in Canada' and it's really frustrating that we are losing jobs oversea. I love Carhartt - one of the greatest brands I carry in my closet. I'm glad that you guys actually took in to account and listen to your fans and customers to make this particular line of clothing (wish all your clothing was Made in USA though).
Proud of paying to this people
Thanks for your comment, David. Our Made in the USA line of apparel was created because our fans told us they wanted products that are made and sourced right here in the U.S. We then shifted some product to other manufacturing facilities in order to accommodate American production. We hope you stay tuned for additional styles this holiday season. To find our Made in the USA styles and more, visit us and click the link in our video description here.
This is my favorite work wear brand

This brand is all I wear, but you need to bring it all back home to the USA!!!!!
just wanted you guys to know that deer meat for dinner is awesome! I love my carhart apparel as well. I subscribed to your channel because Robert Arrington ask me to! Give him some love.
Love my Carhart Sandstone Artic Coat
Many large companies distribute their manufacturing across multiple regions. It's how you make things at scale, based on supply chain & logistics. Not all your suppliers, or buyers, can be in one place. Carhartt clearly states that they make products here in the USA, as well as elsewhere. I don't see anything misleading about what they say or do. Outstanding company & I would challenge anyone to find a better clothing company in the USA.
My jacket says Vietnam. Absolutely rad jacket though quality job dudes!
Looked again: jacket says China, my socks China, tee says Mexico. So what's being mfg in KY and TN? Durable stuff but advertising still misleading. Tell me what's up?

2% made in usa, only 2 products, it's a shame
@@conandebreste5729 And you can't find those anywhere. Where do they sell them?
There are more than just 2 products that are made in America as one of the comments said. Several of the pants, shorts, bibs, jackets, etc. And yes, we have to outsource some items, as we do not have the machines to make them.
Made in Mexico of U.S. Fabric
how come my jacket says made in mexico on the tag??
axertie : I'm going to go out on s limb here. And say, probably because it was made in Mexico.
It brings a tear to my eyes and a smile to my face when I see something made in America knowing that my money is spent wisely and the product is going to last a long time plus that my money is going to hard working Americans and not fucking china U.S.A rocks
Johnny Wenis Did you watch the video or just troll the comments? Because it clearly stated that some of the gear is made offshore. Didn't claim every garment was made in America, but that 1/2 of carhartt's employees work in the US and they have 4 plants making exclusive "Made in USA" apparel.
I love what Carhartt is doing with the brand and there clothing the non stain and non wet is great wish they would add smart tech to it like in built radio helmets. Temperature pockets for extreme weather repairs.
i love Carhartt clothes god bless

Thanks for your thoughts. All of our plants are unionized so the care label says “Union Made” and the country of origin, also listed on the care label, is USA.
Cathartic! Bring jobs back to Ameica! Stop outsourcing to Mexico!
Many American companies like LL Bean and Filson do the same thing; they have a "made in the USA" line (usually more expensive) and a Made in China, Mexico, etc., line. Levis also has a made in the USA line, but you're usually paying about at least double the price...
I have been wearing and buying carhartt products for about 25 years and there stuff is exactly what I would expect it to be everytime its pretty much all will buy and wear people are always saying how much carhartt stuff do you own my reply is I just can't wear it out

for me, Carhartt is the real deal. I live in Europe and here its more streetwear fashion, which I really like.
Never even heard of Carhartt until I saw Jason Momoa talking about them. I’d love to know more about what is actually made in America. I’d support them at any chance.
You might have to drive to Tennessee or Kentucky to find the U.S. made versions. No way to find them on their site because even what is made in the U.S. is also made outside. So when you order you don't know what you'll get (and probably imported).
