Chick-fil-A announces changes to its chicken. Here's why and when

- (WXIA) Chick-fil-A announced Friday that it will soon be making a slight change with its famous chicken.
The Atlanta-based fast-food chain said it will shift from a No Antibiotics Ever (NAE) to No Antibiotics Important to Human Medicine (NAIHM) starting this spring in order to "maintain supply of the high-quality-chicken you expect from us."
Customers who have the Chick-fil-A app downloaded got a memo from the restaurant letting its loyal patrons know about the new change. On its website, Chick-fil-A explained that NAE chicken means that no antibiotics were ever used in raising the animal.
However, they explain that NAIHM "restricts the use of those antibiotics that are important to human medicine and commonly used to treat people, and allows use of animal antibiotics only if the animal and those around it were to become sick."
Livestock producers have long used antibiotics to boost rapid weight gain in animals such as chickens, pigs, cows and sheep, improving the profitability of their businesses. Over the past decade, however, many nations, including the United States, have begun to restrict the practice as evidence mounted that it was contributing to drug resistance and reducing the effectiveness of antibiotics against disease in humans.

Chick fil a is following along with others, time to look elsewhere to eat
🥲
Absolutely. I started making my own at home. PDQ is pretty good.
If you had any kind of experience in the poultry business you would know this chicken is the exact same
@@SuperCoolZomb1e Please elaborate more on this. I have no experience in the poultry business.
@@Lanae8199 Most chicken companies have very little plants for antibiotic free chicken so this allows them to use those same chickens just with antibiotics
No longer going starting now
Me either. Especially not McDonald’s or Burger King those places are trash.
My family typically eats at Chick-fil-a about 4 times a week for a ~$35 bill.
Their chicken is one of the few fast foods that does not bother my Crohn's.
So They will be losing the ~$7000 a year from my family ALONE.
Damn 4 times a week lucky
Omg. You should probably see your doctor lol
@@DaniDoodles my GI doctorS are fully aware that chick fil a is one of the few foods that does not cause a Crohn's flare up.
4 time a week…..
4 times a week is horrible lmaooooo
quality of chicken going down while prices stay up 👍🏾
It isn’t going down who hurt u! The FDA makes sure that there are no antibiotics in the chickens meaning they have to wait for a month before slaughtering them… this basically means nothing has changed.
Same quality just needed to up their supply as demands increase
And I came here to say it doesn’t even taste as good anymore 😢
Same chicken, trust me I’ve been in the plants when it’s made
Yes it does taste the same 😮💨
@@TheOne-ex8cs this is my opinion
@@Iamkvfortune you can’t have an opinion about something objective
@@SuperCoolZomb1e ok 👍🏾
Its all about the money....next thing ya know theyll be open on sundays.....the all mighty....in this case the dollar rules....chick has sold out
Nope it’s the same chicken they’ve just increased their supply for the increasing demand the chicken is not harmful
I tell you what that I do know I won’t be buying Chick-fil-A anymore and it breaks my heart because I trusted them but no longer do I believe the bullshit that they are trying to pass on to consumers
I feel more sorry that you wait I. Line to pay for 10 dollars for a meal like that when you can go to a deli at target to get same quality but for much cheaper
Do U beleive the BS that the news tell u? Maybe u should actually research into the FDA. By law antibiotics have to be cleared up. Meaning they have to wait a month or just never slaughter the animals that have been treated. Meaning. There is no change to anything what so ever.
Same chicken, from the same plants. No difference
I thought thats the whole reason why their chicken sandwiches were 6 dollars… 😅
Its 2024. Chick sandwiches are $6+ everywhere.
I thought it was my taste buds. My grandkids was saying how it tastes different. Now I know it’s not my taste buds it’s a big difference. I don’t like it at all and now my grandkids will not eat it. I’m like what in the world is going on well, that’s it for me. I didn’t care for it at all.
Brah we shouldn't eat animals shot up with all these chemicals. Now i can't even enjoy chick fila, smfh! It was like the only fast food I ate!
They can say what they want, but the truth is they spike the chicken with MSG twice. This is why they have cars wrapped around the stores that sell the same exact crap other fast food stores sell. Its the msg that brings people back, not the chicken itself but the artificial substance they put in the batter and the chicken. They do not have special or different chicken nor is it better than the competitors. Its all the same bird, its just prepared differently. MSG is not only addictive but it has other side effects like migraines, irregular heartbeats, sweating, nausea, numbness and chest pains. This eventually will get regulated more but for now they are making too much money with this scheme so nobody will do anything until the American way comes through which is nothing done until chaos occurs. I'm perfectly fine eating MSG free chicken for half the price and not worry about addiction or side effects. And to top it off they reverted back against the "no antibiotics" which makes no sense at all. For all those wondering why they feel like crap, enjoy your chick fil a.
This
i hate to say it, but you might be in too deep man.
There’s nothing wrong with MSG
Yes exactly!
Msg is harmless, as it was already debunked. It was linked to all these symptoms because the food it was added to was already unhealthy to begin with. Stop spreading lies
Won’t be buying there chicken
That should reduce the price slightly.
No.
Okay but how does that chemical affect humans who are ingesting it from their food?
If you're consuming food that has antibiotics in them, you're weakening your immune system and strengthening bacteria to adapt to those antibiotics.
@@Slow_Bidenno it doesn’t. This is complete bull shit. The FDA regulates antibiotics. Making sure animals treated with them. Have to wait up wards of a month before slaughtering. Meaning there is no antibiotics in your food anymore.
It's ionophore antibiotics, which are not used in human medicine. The food process also has regulations to make sure there's not residue.
I assume for a lot of people it's a less about what exactly they are going to start putting in it and more that it's early signs of the company getting comfortable with downgrading their standards, slowly leading to a cycle of making their food worse over time whenever they need to save more money

I just got a stomach bug off the new cfa chicken, looks like I’ll be going elsewhere now
My sisters friend did too
I had a stomach bug in early April maybe that’s why
Everyone in my house did
Just had my first chick fila sandwich since they changed it. It reminded me of McDonalds or jack in the box chicken sandwich or a frozen chicken patty. It was chunky like they blended bits and pieces of chicken into a “patty” shape 😢
I couldn’t even eat the sandwich anymore
Placebo effect it’s the same chicken
just got a new sandwich last night and it sucked
Yep, me too. It was the only good fast food place left that I enjoyed. I won’t be going back anytime soon.

I agree but this is not a problem and people like you are overreacting
Time start eating at home cut carbs and slim down
Good luck with that 💀
Initial taste is similar but an hour later you are left with a feeling you ate slime and you didn't realize it.
All meat sold in the US is antibiotic free. Antibiotic label claims on meat are nonsensical and meaningless
I couldn’t even eat the sandwich anymore it’s texture is different and it’s been like this the last few months
Stopped eating there because they used so many ingredients. 200 ingredients for a sandwich. Now im definitely not going to eat their Frankenstein chicken.
You are stupid
First wendys and now chic fi la
The texture is different. Chicken is a little tough. This definitely has a noticeable effect on the taste.
Does this have something to do with the new minimum wage law. Are they getting cheaper ingredients. I just don’t feel like eating out no more. I did two days ago for a bday celebration but if it was up to me. I would’ve ate a sandwich at home
Not going to this place ever again
Goodbye chick fil a… The Kale salad is 🥰
Doesn't taste the same and made me sick
For anyone concerned, there are two types of antibiotics in agriculture: *non-ionophore* and *ionophore.* *Non-ionophore* antibiotics are the same kind of antibiotics people take when we're sick. It is _highly_ regulated in agriculture to reduce the chance of breeding antibiotic resistant bacteria. *Ionophore* antibiotics are _not_ used in human medicine. These antibiotics would _not_ lead to bacteria that would be resistant to human antibiotic treatment.
The article in the description says that Chick-fil-A chickens would only get *ionophore* antibiotics when needed. It also mentions that chicken producers like Tyson made this change before Chick-fil-A did. While the article talks about antibiotics used for weight gain, this practice is swiftly falling away due to improved agricultural regulations. I feel like this change is probably to reduce the number of chickens dying from illness.
(Thank you to anyone reading my ramble! I'm very passionate about human-animal welfare and humane agriculture practices.)
Dang. Just dang. I stood by chick fil a all these years against political onslaut, and now i might have to just give them up because of this. Their chicken was so good 😭
We should all go to chick-fil-a HQ and complain
This is what they actually said, word for word:
"To maintain supply of the high-quality chicken you expect from us, Chick-fil-A will shift from No Antibiotics Ever (NAE) to No Antibiotics Important To Human Medicine (NAIHM) starting in the Spring of 2024.
NAE means no antibiotics of any kind were used in raising the animal. NAIHM restricts the use of those antibiotics that are important to human medicine and commonly used to treat people, and allows use of animal antibiotics only if the animal and those around it were to become sick."
I just had it and something is off about it . I felt sick immediately
That was the reason i went to chickfla
Yall are overreacting my god. I work at a Cfa and have worked through the chicken transition and I promise you, sales haven’t decreased, comments haven’t changed, and no you guys are not “going to stop eating Cfa” be real w urself

hardly ever went there as they r always slammed and now I def won't eat there ever again.
Does it actually taste worse or are people overreacting?
edit: since trying it recently chick fil a is actually much worse now. the chicken is tougher and lacks some taste now. what a shame!
@@hotdaern2166 Good thing it tastes similar to you
they taste worse now for sure. they are fatter, chewier, and even lacking flavor like they used to.
It really taste is different totally different. I thought it was my taste buds but it’s not my grandkids even notice the difference and they won’t eat it anymore.
It tastes the same to me. I don't understand why there's this pushback against them using ionophore antibiotics as needed. Ionophore antibiotics can't lead to antibiotic resistance bacteria in human medicine. Humans only use non-ionophore antibiotics.
No wonder it tastes different
Will never eat there again
I got a wierd marketing campaign for chick fil a.
Lab grown meat
I've noticed chick fi la are blowing their own horn alot on commercial s. I think its pathetic
