    IMPORTANT POINTS:
    1. Give Controlled Oxygen via Venturi Mask. Start initially with 24-28% Oxygen.
    2. Respiratory Stimulant (Doxapram) can be given when Non-invasive ventilation(CPAP or BIPAP) is unavailable, but remember doxapram is given only when respiratory rate is low, which usually is not the case as most of the times these COPD patients have rapid breathing.

Oh how I wish you were my sister’s doctor.
She is 58. She has aortic stenosis and a PFO, but is currently in the hospital being treated for COPD, and the nebulizers, steroids, and other meds, don’t seem to be helping her, and she is still having a hard time catching a breath. She has been in the hospital for 2 days and really isn’t responding to treatment. It’s scary because she just got the COPD diagnosis last month, during her first-ever exacerbation. She had so much edema in her legs when they sent her home, that she had to call her PCP the next day! They won’t do the PFO or aortic valve surgeries, because “it’s not bad enough yet”. She also had a cryptogenic stroke last October, which led to them Finding the heart issues. It’s been almost a year and she still hasn’t had any cognitive testing! The neurologist was an hour and a half late, at the first appointment, and said she never received any information on my sister (which, it was in the records that it HAD been sent), and then released my sister without ever seeing her again!!! My sister has long and short term memory loss AND her personality has changed……😩😭
The ineptitude of the medical establishment as a whole, as far as my sisters case, is mortifying……
I think she may have cardiac asthma from CHF….🤷‍♀️
Thank you for this very excellent, informative video!🙏🏻💕

      How sweet to ask!
She was in the hospital for a week, at the time I posted that, and hasn’t been back to the hospital, which is good. No new news. Too many different doctors with different diagnoses. Her heart “isn’t bad enough”, to do surgery, and she hasnt had another exacerbation, so I guess she is doing ok…
      Thanks for asking!🙏🏻💕
