It has to be said, here in France the statistics for Mass attendance, first Communions, ordinations etc... absolutely nose dived in the sixties, particularly 1965, a mass exodus (no pun intended ) The French turned their backs on God so to speak, and in huge numbers embraced the sexual revolution, contraception etc. Certainly can't blame the Muslims there, are they simply filling a religious vacuum ? Last year in this country, the birth rate was 45000 babies lower, compared to 2022, which was apparently low also. And when I see my native Ireland jumping on the bandwagon...brave new modern Ireland. heart breaking.

Yes, the renunciation of God, or renunciation of the Church accelerated through the sixties. It was a fascinating thing to witness and much could be said but above all, there was practically no resistance, no dynamic response. Everybody (or 90+%) lay and clergy lost faith.
I knew exactly nobody who was searching for God, or the meaning of life etc, look to the church or Christianity for the solution.
There are very very few "learned" men, reflective and zealous, discerning and courageous. Even rarer is the holy man, the saint, penetrative, incorruptible and wise. Like Zadoc the learned and scrupulous high priest on the one hand, and Nathan the prophet on the other.
The saints are the roots that carry nourishment from the silent world of dark damp earth to the tree swaying in sun, air and rain. It would seem that we the tree, are just leaning against something rather than standing on it's roots.

Dr Ashenden thank you for your outspokenness, positivity, and for pointing a way forward for us as Christians. I have for a long time recognised the growing power of Islam in our country together with the demise of Christianity, in fact Christianity is held in contempt with Christians being told to stop evangelising on our streets as they are upsetting people. Where are our Christian Church leaders - they are silent! This sends a strong message to me that they have given up! How depressing! You are right about God’s Spirit powerfully at work in the world, particularly in Iran where many mosques have closed. I have also listened to the witness of Muslim men and women who have had amazing dreams where Jesus came to them and they subsequently converted to Christianity even though their families rejected them for this. It reminds me of the prophecy from the prophet Joel “And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will will dream dreams, your young men will see visions”. I agree with you that we must pray. I believe God is almighty and He will work this out.

Truth is like a set of spanners for which only one, and one only, will fit the nut. All the rest look similar and look as though they might do the job, but ultimately are useless, because they are not an exact match.
The fallen world is the nut, and Jesus Christ is the spanner. He has loosened the nut of all humanity lost in Adam, and he individually loosens the nut of our own individual lives. Only he can loosen the grip of the essential darkness in our souls and free us for eternal life with him in heaven. All the other spanners are a waste of time picking up, unless, of course, you are going through each one in your search for truth in the hope of eventually finding Him!!
Our western, European society has picked up almost every other spanner and attempted to justify its trust in them, whilst, in the face of reason, laying down, even throwing away, the only one that they really need.

In 2 Chronicle's 14:11 when faced with an army of million Ethiopians, king Asa prays "Lord, there is no one beside Thee to help in the battle between the powerful and those who have no strength; so help us, O Lord our God, for we trust in Thee, and in Thy name have come against this multitude. O Lord, Thou art our God; let not man prevail against Thee." The rest is history. I must believe that, with the most faith one can muster and a simple, well-articulated prayer, miracles can happen. In the end, though, I don't know precisely where we are in the Biblical timeline. End times? Perhaps. If so, we as Christians may be subject to an ever-growing, unrelenting darkness until we're extricated. In the meantime, my chant is "Courage Christian ... Courage!" LOLOL

Yes, this is entirely true. But I think the characteristic of this encounter in the temple is that it is our Lords justified rage at the process of making worship less accessible ordinary person in Jerusalem, and making money rapaciously on the back of it. I think the circumstances of the violence were unique. He overturned the tables he didn’t damage the merchants.
I don’t think we can easily get from this moment of holy outrage to legitimisation of violence in other circumstances .
I don’t think it means it self-defence against Islam is not legitimate . For that, I think we have to go to Aquinas. But I’m not sure we get it from the gospel here.

However Jesus said he was bringing the sword, a surprising thing when first exposed to it. I am not at all advocating violence but for for clear thought of mind and very strong resolve which is lacking when it comes to IS Jesus also said my people perish for lack of knowledge. A perfect exemple here with too many deluded about IS, just assuming it's simply another faith not bothering to verify when a few hours of reading is enough to wake you, let alone doing a deep-dive.

You are so right in linking Marx, and Mohammed. Communism, and Islam are 2 of the 3 great fundamental, anti-Catholic forces extant in the World today. Our third gravest threat has largely been responsible for propagating both of these ideologies throughout the West, and helping them gain a foothold. Most people, and especially those on the Left, believe that Marx was an atheist. He wasn't. He believed in God full well, and hated him because of some early experiences in his own life where he didn't get what he wanted. As Catholics, we understand the meaning, and need for suffering. Christ said for us to take up our crosses and join him. Marx, because he was denied the object of his affection decided to wage war on God. His poetry reveals an underlying desire to storm Heaven and dethrone God. As this would never be possible, he undertook a plan, like Satan before him, to deprive souls of their Heavenly reward. He invented a quixotic ideology that was never meant to be functional, or beneficial, but instead was entirely hedonistic, and materialistic, therefore seductive, and alluring. It required nothing other than surrender to our most base impulses, and contained a poison seed at its core. It was meant to sever our connection to our soul, and the institution that existed to preserve that aspect of ourselves, the Catholic Church. Is it any wonder then how thoroughly saturated our culture is in sexual perversion, and every anti-Christian, anti-Family, anti-Natal inclination is elevated as a new sacrament? Our world is so sensual, and imbued with luxury, and self gratification to the point where it has been able to penetrate the clergy itself, suiting Marx's ultimate agenda. He will never gain his revenge on God, but he and his ilk, again like Satan before him, will settle for robbing souls of their Heavenly reward.

I cannot agree that we can just accept sharia law in any form. The informal courts that are already here should not be allowed. What to do about the worrying tread of Islam in the UK from a Christian perspective is a really tricky issue I am trying to work out personally. But I do know that Jesus told us to protect the weak and tell the truth and stand up against corruption (when he cleared the temple), which means the church should be apposing it with all their might. Islam is not true, in fact I think it might even be demonic if you study the quran, it is also a corruption in that they are presenting their allah as the same as our God which cannot be true based on my reading of the quran, what he commands and the behaviour of mohammed and a vast number or his most ardent followers in history all the way up to today. And it is our children who will suffer in the future, along with all other minority groups (study the current muslim dominated societies) and women if we don't do something robust about this now.

When faced with a people who's overarching desire is this violent, unquenchable Quest for Empire, what do you do? Evangelize them? Are you serious? That time came and went for our generation, only God can save them now. When they come for the children in the West, then what? Oh wait, there aren't many children in the West anymore, are there? Oh wait again, that makes the few there are more precious than ever. What wouldn't you do to protect them? There's your real answer. There isn't always time for evangelizing and we have a duty to protect our own vulnerable people. The Muslims who occupy the West have not assimilated by choice, and by virtue of their numbers and not so far flung allies, they are not a vulnerable population. Holy War is not sinful when it's waged under provocation. I have zero intention of becoming Dhimmi. I usually enjoy your videos but your idea of submitting to Sharia law all the while praying for muslims to experience a change of heart, en masse, does not sound like much of a plan to me.

However I do not believe there is no longer a hope of conservative culture returning, and I become very nervous when anyone resorts to primarily or wholly trust in prayer or hoping followers of a totalitarian religion whose gospel requires apostates to be slaughtered will convert. It just won't happen.
You don't need to be aggressive or promote violent conflict to say that you will not change your country, your law, or tolerate the barbaric norms of Islam. And if the seemingly ever-increasing numbers of young Muslims who demand England change her laws are by definition unable to live in a country that will not, they are the ones who will be forced to violence or other crimes, or leave. That is what must happen and we must make more of a stand then prayer. Apologies if I sound like I am diminishing the civilized and noble instinct of doing that, however. God bless us all

Great points about presenting Jesus to Muslims and letting them decide. I am reminded of JP II's common refrain when he was a priest. He is said to have counseled many people from all walks of life, but when talking about their problems he would never give them any preferred course of action. He would simply lay out all the facts and tell the person "You must decide. You can do this, or you can do that". This appears to have had a remarkable effect on the parishioners he was counseling, and once the matter was left in their hands, they invariably came to the right decision. (See George Weigel's Biography of JP II) His counsel had much more effect than it would have had Father Wojtyla told them what to do. We should have an active program to evangelize the Muslims in Britain. But just offer them the choice.

Anyway a few days ago I got a notification of a fresh comment response from someone saying 'As a priest in training I can assure you that that did not happen, the Quran was not read in church by a Muslim. A Muslim (the priminister) did read, but it was most definatley not from the Quran.
Also this man did not resign, he changed denomination. Please get your facts right'
I tried to respond to this by sending without comment the source links to several articles from the BBC, Telegraph, and Independent to show that my facts were right. But my responses just kept being removed.
I think the channel admin at Premier Unbelievable deleted my response. I don't get why they would now desire to suppress the fact that Dr Ashenden and others were incensed that a verse from the Quran flatly refuting Gospel claims had been recited in a church. Other than to pretend that there's no conflict or that there's no binary irreducible choice between the two faiths. That it it doesn't matter and is not important if faith is expressed through Islam or Christianity. Whatever floats your personal boat as it were.
