Had no idea the water in Auckland/NZ was polluted! I thought it was the most pristine waters in the world. Live in Australia btw. One day I'll be sure to visit NZ.

Neither, before I wanted to swim in winter also but realized I couldn’t after rain! Oh wow, I hope I can visit Australia maybe next year! 🥰

I’ve spent most of my life on Aucklands harbors and waterways and I’ve also seen dozens of other major cities around the world. Aucklands harbor and the Hauraki gulf are the least polluted I’ve seen. There is a small problem in some areas with run off from farms and when it rains heavily then there are some warnings against swimming due to street storm water drains overflowing. Most people ignore these warnings.

Storm water floods into old sewerage drains and washes out into the foreshore after storms.

Very informative and balanced info, thanks. I've actually been to Auckland but was just a kid, only thing I remember is that everyone wore weird flip-flops 😇 have some family in Perth too. Also as a fellow Swede, the idea of being cold inside is a deal breaker 😬 our only problem is in the summer when it's too hot and no one has AC, but hey... mer klimatsmart med fötterna i en hink isvatten istället 😊

Thanks for the video. Very good. I agree with your pros and cons. Biggest problem to me there was the poor public transport. Getting anywhere without a car is a real pain. BTW, I live in Melbourne so am spoilt as it has trams etc.

Yes, New Zealand especially. It’s both difficult to get high quality things from Europe, but traveling here can only be done by car or flight. Even Australia is several hours away!

I've live in Auckland for 16 years and think you assessed it very well. I love the Harbour and all the amazing islands and the volcanos. Some south and some west suburbs are quite rough. The beach pollution issues I think isn't that bad as it is very easy to find a clean beach, I don't know anyone who has got sick swimming when it said it aas unsafe either. They actively monitor water quality whereas you could be swimming in a dirty beach overseas without even knowing. The streets are also very clean. Homeless people in the city are annoying.
