    Haikyuu did make a huge impact on Japan's volleyball. Before Haikyuu manga was made, the number of clubs were declining but after the manga and anime came out, more and more clubs are formed.
    Even today's Japan's NT players read Haikyuu and inspired by it. Not just that, everytime there's a international tournament, they played Haikyuu opening songs when Japan scored or won. Until today, even in the Olympics. That's how huge Haikyuu impact on volleyball, locally in Japan and internationally.

I get, being a little bit critical going into a new show but if you don't pay attention to the interaction then they will never like the show. Like them saying that how hyper the characters are when talking about the sport as if they are going to die but that's how sports are to a sportsman and these are young kids very passionate about a sport they are young and excited. Personally when I heard Kageyama's little speech about why he wants to be a setter was when I truly fell in love with this show.

    "Is it possible for characters to die in this show?" AHAHAHAHAHA. Oh wow. I can't wait for the RIP comments.
    In all seriousness, win or lose, graduating in this show is more painful than deaths in other anime. It's just more realistic, close to home, and it's hard knowing that that character is OUT THERE and we can't have a match with them ever again. Or they're out there but the dreams of their youths are dashed prematurely. We've generally been desensitized about fictional apocalypses, wars, violence, and deaths because we know nothing about them aside from watching them on screen. But Haikyuu deals a lot with dreams, passions, failures, and persistence, knowing that no one will die if they lose a battle in the court...which is more universal.
    Edit: I'm typing this because I'm devastated. Japan male vball team just fell short of the chance to win a medal this Olympics. Coach Blaine is retiring, Kentaro is retiring, YUJI (!!!) is stepping away to recuperate, they lost one player to cancer. Just...the dream of winning with THIS team that they've been cultivating for almost a decade... now up in smokes. Then we have no idea if Captain Yuki will still be active for the next Olympics, or if Yuji will return to the national team by that time. Ran himself is dealing with injuries but is young enough to tough it out FOR NOW. This Olympics 2024 may be our last sight of the YuYuRan trio. Just... my god... they were bawling their eyes out in that loss, and I cried with them. Seeing Yuki's post-defeat interview saying how he felt inadequate as captain and ace of the team (even though he scored 32 pts!!!), then Ran crying the entire interview. Devastating.

    So here we go. Haikyu starts like an underdog story to capture people's interest, but is in fact super realistic regarding club activities and sports in general. 99,9% of the things are realistic, no super powers or finishing moves. They even joke about that sometimes. Of course they highlight some things, but it's for the sake of the narration. From a player pov like mine, every match is amazing. These first episodes are a little introduction, the hype will come soon.
    As someone else said, this manga/anime was so good that inspired A LOT of people, in Japan and worldwide. Mostly because this story is full of passion, without the usual toxic traits of sport stories.
    Some puns on the episodes: haikyuu is sorta slang for volleyball; Hinata means sunflower, related to sun; Tsuki in Tsukishima means moon, so they are expected to be rivals; also in Kageyama kage means shadow, yama means mountain, but his "darkness" goes well with karasu, crows, the name of the new school.
    Oh, the school year in Japan ends in march and starts in april, so when they say "you played against each other last year" they mean probably a couple months ago.
    Oh, this will happen sometimes in the future: the composer of the ost is the same as MHA, but the two shows aired at the same time, Haikyu a little earlier. So technically is MHA theme that's similar to haikyu, not the other way around.
    Some technical info: at pro level you play 5 sets to 25 points, fith the fifth at 15, here we'll have best-of-3 matches to 25. Oh well, most of the training matches will be at "whatever number of sets we want". Rules are simple, but the anime will spell them for you.

      Honestly, I cried more in Haikyuu more than Naruto, and I like Naruto (I felt nothing when a certain side character died in the war arc). The realistic devastation in Haikyuu is just so relatable. I've never been to war, and I only have 1 family member die (from cancer). Graduating, growing up, having encounters with wonderful people you'll never see again, running away from pressure, trying to find the spark that you once felt for a passion, failed dreams, the difficulty of persevering and trusting that you'll make it one day...I KNOW those moments more than fictional wars and violence.

    Stop being so negative and compare it to shows like AOT. A show doesn't have to have plot twists or wtf moments to be good. This definitely one of the goated shows out there. It's because of the story and the characters.
    Discard the mindset of like you are watching AOT or something. This negative mindset is what keeps you from diving deep into series like Haikyuu. Keep an open mind.

    • @the_kranthikajol
      @the_kranthikajol Před měsícem +5

      I'm a dieheart fan of AOT and it is my top 1, but I never watch a new anime with a negative mind and comparing to it. Each has its own perks of being awesome. And that's how it (Haikyu) became my top 2. But don't worry I'm sure they'll enjoy it. It will be a new experience. Because it is the only anime they are watching which is real, alongside vinland too but it is seinen and an old one. So the real one is HAIKYUU. As you can see me AOT and HAIKYU are total opposites and my type is definitely AOT... But Haikyuu proved me wrong. U can love respect and even put the show in top 1 2 3 5 or 10 if it has a strong solid storyline, breath taking moments perfect humour and inspiring rivalry with simple high school volley ball players... 😊🙌

      True. I love both AoT and Haikyuu. It's obvious they are really different shows, so going into it expecting AoT 2.0 is not the right mindset. I believe they will come to understand it the more they watch it, but still...

    Okay if i’m gonna be honest i understand how some people find haikyuu boring, but i have been watchigg by anime for 10 years and i recently like a year ago started volleyball i ended up watching haikyuu and i think when ur a volleyball player it makes the watch even better. Because i used to think people were dramatic crying and all that over matches or messing up a point until i joined a team. I’m 13 i’ve been in a development program and for the friend time joined my grade 7/8 team and was watching haikyuu at the same time. I was really hyped and everything i watched it i just really wanted to play vb, i understand the feeling of regret or frustration even if it’s like shanking a few balls or messing up a spike i was only on a team for a month but im glad i watched it after i got into vb because then you really can understand each perspective and its not necessarily the same for people who dont play/like vb or people who dont like sports at all. So like i said, i understand why people find this boring but Haikyuu is definitely one of my favourite anime’s out of all the anime i have watched so far
